Summary
After the Boxing Day fight, Ilya's place doesn't almost crash and Shane doesn't propose. Instead, he turns to self harm to cope with the self hatred feels as a result of the Metro's hostility, Ilya's inability to communicate, and his belief that he's the reason for everything wrong in their relationship and the team dynamic.
What starts as a self proclaimed unhealthy coping mechanism comes to a head when Ilya finds out and realizes just how much he underestimated the degree to Shane was struggling and the impact hiding had on him.
Will they find their way back to each other or will Shane let his depression eat him alive, leaving everything he ever loved, including hockey, to the past.

I really want to explore a story where Shane struggles deeply with his mental health. I find it hard to imagine that everything didn't take more of a toll on him. It's dark but there is light at the end of the tunnel. This is pretty heavy so if self harm or eating disorders are triggering for you pls don't read!
