But, true to his word, Will can see the gears turning. His face retreats quickly just as Hannibal snaps his jaws upwards, seeking soft flesh, burning to rip a hole in Will the way Will is ripping holes in him. Teeth clamp on nothing but empty air and Hannibal pants, desperate, a caged animal.
“Saturn devouring his son,” Will says quietly, his breaths coming steady and slow. He shakes the hair out of his eyes and resettles to sit on the bed near Hannibal’s hip. He rests one hand on the bare skin of Hannibal’s chest, feeling the panicked rising and falling. “You would consume your own creation.”
