No. No, no. No no no no no no. No! No he can’t- no.
Wemmbu’s tail curled tightly around his leg and his wings faltered for a moment. He shot down, maced the Null closest to the body to Jaden. He grabbed his trident and one of his earrings and took off.
He could hear Spoke laughing. “Ha! Kill Wemmbu! Kill. Wemmbu!”
He had to get out. He had to leave, or it’d be for nothing. Jaden would died for-
He flew high. Higher than was necessary. Just so he could feel weightless. Weightless felt good. Weightless felt like nothing.
Wemmbu wouldn’t mind feeling like nothing right now.
But he can’t, because Egg’s still alive. If Egg dies- no. Egg can’t die, he can’t, because then he would be entirely alone.
He might’ve lost Minute.
He lost Jaden.
Fuck it, he lost Rejoice.
He lost Mane.
He can’t lose Egg.
He let his wings snap out to glide north. Towards the compass. Hopefully towards Egg. His fist clenched around the earring. A blue aquamarine gem. The gold clasp dug into his palm, nearly drawing blood, but he didn’t care. He remembered when Jaden got it.
“Yo, look at this!” Jaden exclaimed happily. Wemmbu paused his walking to look at what on earth had gotten Jaden so excited. “Mystery, look! It’s so freaking pretty, I love these things.”
The siren was pointing at a pair of earrings that a vendor was selling for a couple diamonds. A pair of aquamarine gemstone earrings with gold clasps.
“...earrings?” Wemmbu muttered confusedly.
“Yeah! They look cool, don’t they? I love jewelry like this. We gotta keep moving though, sadly.” Jaden’s tail flicked and he continued on his way. Wemmbu hesitated at the vendor and tossed them a few diamonds and grabbed the earrings, stuffing them into his nearly full inventory.
“You can use this build for your civ.” Wemmbu gestured wide with his arms to Jaden and the siren lit up.
“Wait, really? Oh, yeah, that’s such a good idea. Great thinking Myst.” His tail flicked happily.
“Woah, woah, hold on, no. This is my place! You can’t just-” Lobster interrupted and Wemmbu flicked his tail, annoyed.
“Okay, fine. I’ll fight you for it. You win, you keep it, I win, Jaden gets it.” Wemmbu proposed and Lobster hesitated before nodding. “Cool.” Wemmbu lunged at the man and the fight commenced.

<TheLobsterMan left the game>
Wemmbu hesitated. Oh. Shit. That wasn’t supposed to happen. He flew back up to Jaden.
“Dude. Did I read that right?” Jaden tilted his head, sounding nervous. His tail curled around his leg.
“…you can have your empire. Just don’t ever go past the Great Sea. Or you know what will happen.” Wemmbu turned to leave, tail flicking decisively, but he hesitated. “…and have this. I was gonna give it to you anyways.”
He dug in a pocket and threw what was inside at Jaden. The siren caught it swiftly, then examined it. The earrings. “You-“
“Don’t mention it.” Wemmbu muttered. “Literally. Don’t.” He then took off, flying away and leaving Jaden staring at the earrings in his hand.
“You’re coming with us.” Ace stepped forward. Then it started raining. “What the-“

“Yo! Jaden?!” Wemmbu grinned and got into the fight along with the pirate. Many other pirates came to help and Wemmbu fought that battle with a smile on his lips.
After the fight, he asked why Jaden would help them, after all, Law was after them.
“Well. The Law doesn’t cover the Great Sea, so. Should be safe out there.” Jaden’s eyes crinkled in a smile and Wemmbu nodded back.
They all filed into boats to get to Jaden’s pirate civilization, and as they did, Wemmbu noticed something.
“…you’re wearing the earrings.” He muttered to Jaden as he set down a boat for him and Egg.
“Yeah. I told you I liked em. Course I’m gonna wear them, Myst- Wemmbu.” Jaden’s tail flicked playfully.
“Ha ha ha hilarious.” Wemmbu deadpanned and got in the boat with Egg.
He saw the new biome. A mushroom sort of one. Kind of like the Abandoned Civ where Rejoice was. Saw Egg below and glided down to meet him. Wemmbu stumbled as he landed.
“Yo, dude, I owe Jaden a huge favor. All the people from that civ do, he helped us get out. Wait- where’s Jaden?” Egg tilted his head at Wemmbu, whose wings curled around himself and he stared at Egg for a second.
He opened his fist to stare at the earring. It was slightly purple tinted now. A bit of his blood must’ve dried on it.
“…we’ve gotta keep moving.” Wemmbu mumbled and pushed ahead of Egg, who stopped him by grabbing his upper arm.
“Wemmbu.” The seraphim said firmly. “Where is he?”
“He’s banned.” Wemmbu snapped, turning to glare at Egg as he wrenched his arm out of the seraphim’s grip. “He- he’s gone. Minute might be too. He’s probably just captured but- he might be gone too.”
“Oh… Wem…” Egg said sadly, tail curling up and wings tucking close to his eye. “I- come here.”
Wemmbu didn’t have a second to protest as he was pulled into Egg’s arms in a tight hug. His breath stuttered for a second before he melted into the embrace. Tears streamed down his cheek fur, and he let out a broken sob.
“He’s gone, Egg, he-“ Wemmbu choked out, his tail intertwining tightly with Egg’s. Egg just held him, a steady, warm hold around him, keeping him grounded.
“…yeah. But it’s gonna be okay, Wem. It’ll be okay. We’ll be okay.” Egg said softly. Not many people were soft, of all things, with Wemmbu. “…okay.” Wemmbu mumbled. “We’ll be okay.” He pulled away from the hug and looked at the earring again. He quickly put it onto his left ear and wiped at his cheeks, eyes, and nose. “We gotta keep moving. Just- so it wasn’t for nothing.”
“Yeah. Let’s get moving.” Egg nodded and they continued following the compass
Just keep going. Just keep fighting. Don’t make it for nothing. Make it worth it.
