Hooray. They’d won. Law had been eviscerated off the face of the server. Yippee. Great day for Wemmbu, honestly. Excellent day, really. Except for the fact that Lettuce had escaped, but that was okay. They could track him down easily.
The most annoying thing currently was Flame, who’d decided to attack Jaden. For some reason. So obviously Wemmbu couldn’t let that slide.
“Yo, Flame, why are you mad at Jaden?” Wemmbu asked as he brought his mace down on Flame who dodged easily.
“Bro, you don’t- why do you care? Just let me kill him.” Flame muttered and swiped at Wemmbu with his sword. The colorati easily dodged and flew up a little, then shot down, mace above his head. Flame blocked the hit with his shield.
“No, bro, I’m not letting you kill him!” Wemmbu’s tail lashed and he swiped his sword at Flame’s, causing them to clash. “Why do you even-“
He was cut off as Flame pushed him back and placed a cart and lit a flint and steel. Wemmbu quickly remembered a few things. One, he was out of rockets. Two, he was out of totems. Long story short, this is gonna hurt. A lot.
The cart exploded, blasting Wemmbu back violently. His back slammed into a crumbling piece of the terrain and his head soon followed. Stars erupted back his eyes and searing pain sparked as well. He fell into a small crater, body slumping limply.
Ow.
Wemmbu blinked a little, trying to clear the black spots from his eyes. It didn’t work. If anything, it made them return with more intensity. Ringing began in his ears, picking up as he tried and failed to clear his head.
He groaned in pain, curling in on himself as best he could. It hurt more, which made him suspect his ribs were broken. Very likely, honestly. Lovely.
The world was blurring around him. Colors faded together and the shapes swirled into a kaleidoscope of pain. Sweet void, his brain wasn’t making sense right now, was it? Not a bit.
A hand waved in front of his face and he blinked at it slowly. It left and returned with a health pot, which nudged at his lips. He whined and shied away from it, but whined again as the pain flared brighter. It nudged more insistently and he parted his lips reluctantly.
Sweet cherry-like flavor flooded his tongue and he swallowed the overly sweet liquid. With it came a slow looseness in his body. The pain faded down and his head cleared a little. Not fully, but a little.
“Wemmbu?”
He blinked at the face in front of him. Egg. That was nice. He liked Egg. He reached a little for the seraphim, whose eye crinkled in a smile and held the purple furred colorati’s hand and squeezed it reassuringly. “Yeah, it’s me bro. You’re good.”
Wemmbu tried to move closer to Egg, but whined as the dulled pain flared again. “I- it’s fine. Don’t move. You’re good. I got- one second…”
Another potion pressed to Wemmbu’s lip and he opened his mouth. The same sweet cherry flavor washed over his tongue and he swallowed with a shudder.
A good bit of warmth came over his body, and his head felt… light. Kind of fuzzy, but in a pleasant way. Like sinking into a cloud of cotton candy.
“Is that better?” Egg asked and Wemmbu nodded. Better. “Good. Um… I’m just gonna talk a little if that’s okay.”
Wemmbu nodded again and Egg’s hand stroked his head. He purred a little. “Cool. Once this is all over, we can go somewhere new. Make a house, fish, fun stuff. Just kind of live. That’d be nice, yeah?”
Wemmbu hummed. That would be nice. Just chilling with Egg somewhere remote. Very nice.
Something cold and wet pressed against his head and he winced. It stung. He tried to move away from it, but Egg’s hold stopped him.
“It’s okay. It’s just Minute, he doesn’t bite. Right, Minute?” Egg said and an affirmative hum answered. “See? He’s cool. I bet you feel really, like, fuzzy right now from the health potions, right?”
Wemmbu nodded a little and the cold returned. It stung, but it wasn’t that bad.
“Yeah, that and- never mind. In a minute you can rest. Then we can go. I think I’d want to make a cool library. That would be fun. I could fill it with all the books I’ve made from our travels. Which, there’s a lot by the way. A lot. We’ve done a lot of cool things.”
The cold retreated, but reappeared on his arms. It stung again, but he tried not to wince. The stinging mixed with the fuzziness in his brain made it feel like it was melting into a mosh pit of weirdness.
This is probably what it feels like to be high. Maybe. He wouldn’t know. Don’t do drugs kids, it's bad and makes your brain turn into cotton candy and melted cheese.
“And because my eye sees all, there’d be a cool eye mosaic type design on the floor to show that. You could have- I don’t know what type of house you’d want. You have the vibe of someone who’d live in a cave. But like, a cool cave. You know?”
The cold moved to his side and paused as he whimpered and whined. Ow. That part still hurt a lot.
“…I think his ribs are broken.” Someone whispered above him. It was probably Minute. Minute was nice.
“I-“ Egg stuttered. “Yeah. Okay. I can probably- hm.” He went quiet and Wemmbu’s ears twitched. He could hear the ringing in them without Egg talking. He didn’t like the ringing.
A pressure appeared on his side and he groaned in pain. “I know, I know, just- hang on a second.”
Warmth spread from the pressure, seeping into his bones. Maybe literally, he couldn’t tell. It felt good. But also a little bad, because he could feel his insides moving around and that was unpleasant.
After a moment, the pressure left and his chest felt better. He could breathe better. That was nice.
“There.” Egg said with satisfaction. “Feel better?”
Wemmbu nodded and the other voice muttered something. “How did you…?”
“Seraphim, Minute. I'm a seraphim.”
Wemmbu curled up again, eyes squeezed shut. “...m’ tired.”
Egg patted his head lightly. “I know. You can rest now, if you want.” Wemmbu nodded, then let his eyes slip shut. He was quite tired. Sleep would be nice.
Very nice.
