Summary
Ten years ago, Sergeant Jack Abbott knew exactly what to expect when he called Rescue 2-1: a helicopter, a Dutch Shepherd, and Captain Trinity “Necromancer” Reeves, who had a habit of bringing soldiers home when nobody else thought they would make it.
Then Afghanistan ended for Jack, and somewhere between rehabilitation, medical school, and the lives they built apart, they stopped calling.
Now an emergency physician in Pittsburgh, Jack is in the middle of the PittFest mass casualty incident when a familiar voice cuts through the chaos outside his trauma bay.
Rescue 2-1 isn’t supposed to be in Pittsburgh. And he certainly isn’t supposed to recognize the woman standing beside its newest Dutch Shepherd.
But Trinity is here, and Jack is about to discover that some things are harder to leave behind than a battlefield.
