    Summary

Before, Mary Bennet was the type of woman to always look at things from the outside, disconnected from the feeling of them, because she knew that she was not the type of woman who would experience them.

So, when Mary read about love… about intimacy, she thought of it the same as she thought about everything else. She did not think about the experiencing, or imagining herself, she focused on the logistics of the act itself.

Now, the future Mary Hayward was experiencing the effects of imagination all at once. All those years she spent not imagining were catching up to her, as though 20 years of nothing were all of the sudden turning into something.

Had Tom been intimate with other women? Would he find Mary lacking? Was he even attracted to Mary in that way? These were all questions that begged for answers, but she was too afraid to ask any of them. And more than that, it would be blasphemous to ask them at all.
