His eyes shifted towards the brief shine of the reflection of metal, narrowing in its direction as he took a careful step forward, his fingers curled tightly onto his sword.
"Hiding won't do you much." Wifies spoke, eyes fixed at the edge of the wall, expecting the person to jump at any moment.
He slowed his pace, attempting to listen for any sudden noises, but he heard nothing aside from the grass swaying. Even so, he kept high alert.
"Parrot, where are you..." He mumbled, finally turning the corner and finding it was empty behind the wall.
Parrot was supposed to be helping him kill this guy, and the man was nowhere to be found. Wifies could only trust that he was figuring something out, maybe even knowing where who they chased had run off to.
The dim glow from the bulb above him didn't help in spotting any movement. Even as he walked away from it, his surroundings seemed to be too dark, and his muscles were already weak from battling for the entire day.
He had to admit it was crazy he only noticed it now. Wifies couldn't tell what time it was, not where he even was anymore.
"Wifies." The voice from behind him sounded out his name in syllables, a tone seeming low and dangerous.
Wifies recognized it immediately, swinging his sword with as much force as he could, ready to keep on fighting.
But instead of fabric, or even skin, he watched the cold metal sending green feathers to the floor.
Before Wifies could register it, a cry escaped from Parrot, who stumbled back, trying to hide his wings from him.
He hissed. "Ow, bro! It's me!" Parrot winced, slowly bringing out his injured wing to examine it.
Wifies felt his hands loosen, letting the sword fall onto the grass below. His breath hitched at the sight before him, eyes widening as he took a few steps toward him.
"Parrot, oh my god." His face twisted into deep concern. He could've sworn that voice wasn't Parrot's.
"It's fine." Parrot laughed a bit, trying not to worry the other.
But as he did so, his eyes gazed down toward the grass becoming stained in crimson, spreading more and more.
Wifies looked down after him, his concern only growing. "You're bleeding. A lot. I'm so sorry."
"It's okay, trust me. You didn't hit me that hard." Parrot shrugged. "I've been through worse. It'll heal."
Wifies hesitated, but forced himself to nod. Eyes still locked on the crimson liquid that seemed to still drop onto the ground.
He had done this.
It wasn't the first time he accidentally hurt Parrot, but this was the first time he had made him bleed to this extent.
"We have to get you bandaged up. That's a lot of blood." Wifies stuck out a hand for him, and Parrot shot him a soft smile as he took it.
"We still got that guy to look out for, y'know? I'll be fine."
Yet his clothes were stained of blood.
Yet no matter how much he tried to ignore it, Wifies smelled nothing but iron.
His eyes snapped toward a sound not so far away, narrowing at the smallest bit of movement he caught, not sure whether it was the wind or something else.
Wifies shook his head, and as he turned towards Parrot, his eyes widened in horror. The blood hadn't seemed to stop seeping from the wound, sliding towards Parrot's pants and soaking his clothes.
Not to mention, Parrot's faint grimace was a mixture of pain and confusion. Wifies simply couldn't stare at that any longer.
"Parrot, we have to get out. We'll kill him some other time."
This time, the man leaned against him didn't respond, only nodding as his eyes became more tired as they continued walking.
"Wifies..." He mumbled, looking dizzy and his body weakening in Wifies' grasp.
This wasn't supposed to be happening...?
He was fine a second ago, so why did this happen?
Suddenly, Parrot began to lose consciousness, almost collapsing, but it was only for a small moment.
Wifies gasped in worry. "Parrot." He called, the other not seeming to understand what he said. "Parrot!"
His hands were beginning to soak in blood, along with his sleeves, spreading and growing. It made him feel sick.
Why was there so much?
Blood. It was everywhere.
What was happening!?
"Parrot, hold on. Please." Wifies begged, kneeling down to pick Parrot up on his back.
The other fell onto his back, body going limp and Wifies didn't waste one second before darting somewhere.
Somewhere?
He didn't care.
He just had to get Parrot to safety.
"Hang on. Hang on, please." His voice became more quiet, slowly breaking into a sob.
__
"This makes absolutely no sense." Parrot muttered, shoulders slumping as he stared at the puzzle before him.
As a matter of fact, the entire room was one big puzzle. Parrot was simply having a hard time figuring out which one he was supposed to be solving first. He had already examined about five of them, and that had already taken a long while.
He placed a hand to his forehead in exhaustion. They had been captured over recklessly trying to kill someone they didn't even know the name of. But they obviously underestimated how good he was, getting themselves stuck in... Whatever this was.
"I should probably try and wake Wifies up again." Parrot sighed as he let his hand fall back down.
Before he did so, he took a moment to look at a few more, but he abruptly stopped at the quiet sobbing noises he heard from behind him.
His head snapped back, brows furrowing as he felt a pang of concern. "Wifies!" Parrot called.
Wifies still lay on the ground, except this time, he was turned on his side, legs curled slightly upward and tears rolling down the side of his face. Yet his eyes remained closed.
"Wifies, c'mon. Wake up." Parrot was at his side in a second.
He had tried several times to wake him up before, and only two had half succeeded, where Wifies simply passed out immediately after. He wasn't sure what they had made them consume, but it was obvious Wifies got it worse.
Parrot hadn't tried to wake him up after the previous attempts, hoping he would just have to wait it out. But that was no longer his plans.
He shook the man gently, but hard enough to wake him up. "Wake up, it's just a bad dream."
"Parrot..." The other sobbed out, and Parrot felt his heart break.
"Wifies. Hey, hey. Wake up." He continued to shake him, this time a bit rougher, and finally he blinked his eyes open.
Wifies look scared - no, terrified.
"What- where-..." His entire expression changed when he saw Parrot, sitting up straight as quick as he could. "Parrot!"
He turned onto his knees as Parrot, gently reaching for his wing, fingers shaking a bit. "Is it okay? Is it healed? A-Are you okay?"
"What? My wing?" Parrot opened it, showing it completely intact. "It's fine, Wifies. That was just a dream." He assured, still concerned at the scared expression of the other.
"So, I didn't hurt you?"
"No, of course not." Parrot smiled, although it slightly faded slightly at the realization of what the dream probably was. Parrot's hand subconsciously reached for Wifies' face, wiping away the tears on his cheek with his thumb.
Wifies smiled softly at the action, stretching his hands forward and embracing Parrot as the other leaned in for the already expected hug.
"Aw, look at you." Parrot snickered, but that expression only lasted a bit before he expressed his concern again.
"Bro." Wifies laughed, sniffling a bit as he still held Parrot.
They remained that way for a moment, Parrot rubbing his back in a comforting manner.
"What was it about? The dream?" He asked hesitantly as he carefully pulled back, eyes searching through Wifies'.
"Bro, I actually like, killed you. Oh my god." Wifies slid a hand down his face, and Parrot only smiled faintly.
"Aw. I wouldn't die so easily."
Well, they kind of got captured, so maybe. But Parrot wasn't going to tell Wifies that to the face.
"That's what I thought, and you wouldn't stop bleeding, bro." He said it in a joking manner, but it was obvious he was still a bit shaken up.
Parrot shook his head at what he said, a smile on his face.
It wasn't just rare, but Parrot had never seen Wifies cry, ever.
And to be the reason he cried, too?
Parrot had to admit it was sweet he cried for him, but he would never forget the worry he felt just seeing tears on his face.
"So." Wifies spoke up, wiping away a tear from his face. "Where are we?" He pushed himself up to stand.
Parrot followed right after, looking around listlessly at the various puzzles. "Oh, we're still stuck in this escape room."
"What do you mean 'still?'" Wifies turned to him, unsure by what he meant by that. He didn't recall being stuck anywhere in the first place.
Parrot tilted his head towards him, pressing his lips into a thin line. "Yeah, uhm. You've passed out a few times. You probably forgot what I told you." Parrot shrugged.
Wifies blinked in realization before exhaling. "We got captured didn't we?"
