Chapter Text
Waking up after a long night of polishing your large gun collection is arduous, and you know that your shift is going to be long. You get up and stretch, putting on your button up and black pants that are required for your job. Of course, you can’t forget your stainless steel desert eagle, keeping it discreetly in your waistband. It’s been hard keeping your guns hidden after you moved from Texas to Brazil, but it's not like you could leave all of your babies behind, and you need to stay strapped at all times.
Slipping on your boots and stepping outside, you start your walk to the cafe you’re employed at. On your way, you see an obviously drunk man harassing a clown from the circus that recently popped up. You’re no rat, but this is unacceptable.
”Now folks, what's the matter here?” Stepping in front of the clown, you can immediately tell you’re intimidating the man, with your 6’5 height and muscular stature. “I think it’s best if you go, it's not like this poor fellow has done any wrong.”
”We-well, they’re all devils! And I hope they take you like they’ve been doing with all the others in this god forsaken town.” He storms off, and you chuckle as he runs faster when he notices you’re still watching him.
“Some folks can just be real assholes, even in a place like this. Though, I woulda thought that I’d escaped all’at Christian propaganda when I left my hometown.” Grabbing his hand and pulling him up, you realize that he’s even taller than you, an impressive feat. You pull out a handkerchief from your pocket, pressing it into his hands.
“That man hit you pretty hard, so take this, just in case you’re bleeding. I’d help you further, but I’ll be in a heap of trouble with my boss if I’m late. Take care now!” Your boot heels click on the brick as you walk onward, arriving at the front only two minutes before your shift starts.
Stepping into the building, you snatch your apron, giving your boss a nod as you clock in. After accidentally scaring your coworker Carol off due to your stature, shifts have been long and hard. You still can’t help but love it, so you roll back your shoulders and get to work.
A few of the customers get on your nerves, especially when one person asks for a cappuccino with only foam, and another attempts to pay what he said was ‘a protection talisman’ which on closer inspection is in fact a broken happy meal toy from the 80’s.
Your eye is already twitching slightly when an older gentleman tries to ‘warn’ you of the danger of the circus, then immediately transitions to raving about how aliens are taking over the world. Thankfully he leaves quickly, and by then the day is slowing down.
“Tsk, I’m sick of ripping those flyers off my window, don’t let anyone hand them out here. And please go pick those flyers on the tables and toss em.” He turns to you as he talks, but leaves into the back, muttering about ‘needing to file taxes’.
When your hands are full of flyers, you aren’t sure what to do with them, considering how well made they were. You might try to bring them back to the circus if enough of them pile up over the time they’re here. As you ponder, the door jingles open, and you stash the flyers behind the counter, now firm in your plan.
”Welcome, sir.” Greeting the man in a blue suit, trying your best to not look like murder is a common plan on your to-do list. “What can I get for you?”
”Ah, just a hot coffee would be nice.” You nod in acknowledgement, wearily making a fresh cup.
”Here’s your coffee.” As you place the cup in front of him, you hope he’ll leave soon, as your shift ends soon.
“Thanks. It’s cold outside. What’s with those flyers? I saw you putting them behind the counter.”
“Ah, just some folks leaving them around, my boss just doesn't want them in the cafe.”
“How rude to do that in a place of business, right?”
“It’s really no bother, when I stack enough of them up I’ll find someone who works at the circus to hand them back. Don’t want to waste em’ with how good quality they are.” As you speak, his hand snakes away from where it was rising to his pocket, and you awkwardly stand there for a moment before realizing that he will not be continuing talking, and you walk to behind the counter. He leaves soon after, going up to the counter to pay.
“Say, I’ll be leaving town soon, but the circus was excellent to see. You should check it out sometime.” You fake a laugh, nodding to try and entice him into leaving faster. As the man leaves, your boss comes back up the front, rushing around to collect all his things.
”I’m leaving now ____, so lock up,please? Sorry, I’ll pay you overtime, but I've got an appointment I can’t be late to.”
“Sure thing, boss. It’s really no worries.” Now all that’s left is to clean up, and then I’ll be home with my babies. And who knows, if you’re lucky dinner can be….. extra special. As you’re fantasizing, the bell jingles, and a click rings through the building and the lights turn off. Your hand twitches to the gun, anticipation running through your veins.
You flick on the lights, and spin around with a grin, hoping for a fight. “Oh! Why sir, its you from earlier.” You see it’s the performer from earlier, though his mask is cracked, and blood is pooling around the area. He holds out a paper rose, and you feel touched. “Thank you, darlin’. I love it! Oh, you got injured again. Well, come sit down over here, I’ll help you out.” He sits on the chair you gestured to, and you grab a first aid kit from behind the counter.
You clean up the wound, staunching the blood flow and trying your best to not stain the mask with red. “Did you get attacked again? Why if it happens this frequently I might have to start being your bodyguard.” You laugh at your own joke, disposing of the cloths when you find that the blood flow has stopped.
“Say, you don't talk, is it part of an act?” You start wiping down tables as you talk with him, wanting to make sure you can leave soon. He looks around, leaning to you.
”I can’t be seen talking.” You’re shocked at how deep his voice is, though you try to not let it show.
”Ah, so it is part of the act!”
”Yes, my lord. I’m the Pierrot, nice to properly meet you!”
“Good to meet you too. I’m ____, darlin’. But a Pierrot? You don’t look like any I’ve seen.”
“Indeed, you are right my lord! We were required to… modernize my attire. But my role remains unchanged.”
“I like your attire, though. Even if some crazies have been needlessing harassing you.”
“I suppose we may appear a touch… uncanny. That tents to unsettle people.”
“Still no excuse. Are the ones handing out flyers on the street similar to you?”
“We all perform, due to our small cast. Though I must say, I am the only Pierrot, my lord. the others are Jesters, Fools, and…. Harlequins.” He rolls his eyes at the last part, and you stifle a chuckle. You can guess who isn’t the most liked by Pierrot.
“Thats good to know, but are you the only one who remains silent?”
”No, that's exclusive to myself. Though I’ll make an exception for the two of us.”
”That’s sweet of you, doll. Your secret is safe with me.”
”I brought you another thing, as a token of appreciation.” He holds out a red ticket, eyes wide. You take it carefully, to not rip it.
“Thank you. I’ve been debating on whether to go, but you’ve sealed the deal for me. Will your show be on tomorrow?”
”Thank you, my lord! It will, and I’d be glad to see you there.”
”Now I’m sorry ta’ kick you out like this, but I Ned to close up now. Will you be alright on your own?”
”I completely understand. I’ll be excited to see you tomorrow, my lord.”
You hold the door open for him, holding the rose in your hand tight. Yeah, you’re really hungry, and you know just what will satisfy it. First, you must prepare.
At home you change into a more discreet outfit, grabbing a pistol with a silencer. After all, you don’t want the pigs to find you. The door clicks behind you, and a grin splits your face. You know exactly who you want.
You stalk around seedy bars, looking for your target. After around an hour, you find him. You stalk him through alleys, watching him stumble unaware of what’s to come. You lift the gun, aiming at the back of his head. The gun goes off, wrist taking the brunt of the recoil.
The man who attacked Pierrot falls, blood pooling around him. You lick your lips, already fantasising of the meals you’ll make. You heft him around your shoulders, holding your kill like a downed deer. It’s a quick walk to your home, dropping him on the counter.
You grab your butcher knife, cutting limbs off at the joints. You stash the legs, torso, and one of the arms in the fridge, keeping the rest out. You cut off the fingers and toss them aside, the small amount of meat making them unappetizing. Now that you can afford to be picky with your cuts of meat, you’re happy to spoil yourself.
You peel cuts on the arm from the bone, cutting until only bone remains. You leave the bones to dry in a bowl, the bone broth you can make will be lovely. Heating a pan you add butter and your cuts of meat, searing them quickly. You pull out the corpse's eyes, popping them on a plate. Taking the thin slices you dip them in the fluid, savoring the flavor. The meat melts in your mouth, the saltiness of the eyes tasting delicious.
You clean up, wiping away the blood and throwing the rest of the head in a bag with the fingers. You tie it tight, throwing it in the trash bin. You finish getting ready for bed, checking on your guns one last time before you sleep. You place the flower and ticket from your dresser to your bedside table, smiling at them as you drift off.
“Ah my lord, you are even more beautiful in your sleep. You aren’t a monster like me but you killed that man all the same! You barely know me, but I know everything about you. Or, I will. Yet already I know how you stalk in the night, how you eat with such grace. I knew from the moment I saw you today, something inside me… ignited. And now, there is nowhere left to run. I needed to see you with my own eyes, to make sure you were real. And you are! You must mine, you will be mine.”
