“What is #Superbat?”

Summary:

Hal Jordan doesn’t shy away from a bet, not when he has a chance to win $25,000, and besides, it’s not like it was his money! (He had only contributed ~$500) Thanks Ollie!

All he had to do was make Big Blue and Spooky admit their feelings for each other.

It couldn’t be THAT hard, could it?

Notes:

Hal is a little shit and gets an idea whilst in bed with his fiancé. That’s it really.

More coming soon gang, I’ve written most of chapter two and started chapter three

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Hal Jordan’s Idea

Chapter Text

It was late at night, maybe early morning, Hal didn’t know, nor did he really care. He’d been drifting in and out of a light sleep for what felt like hours, maybe it had only been a few minutes, he didn’t know, but one thing he did know, was that if he moved an inch, the sleeping speedster beside him would wake.

He loved Barry, don’t get him wrong, but by gods did the man have a lot of energy.

Well duh Hal, he’s The Flash, of course he has lots of energy!

That’s not what he meant.

Those who met Hal and Barry would always assume Hal was the more talkative one, and yes, they were right.

For the most part.

Hal liked gossip, not small talk.

Barry? He didn’t know how to shut up.

He loved hearing the man talk, of course he did! But currently he had a more pressing matter on his mind.

One about his fellow League members.

Two members in specific.

Good old Boy Scout and Spooky.

He was in a bit of a pickle.

You see, He, Ollie, Dinah, and a few others had started a betting pool.

Note to self: Don’t make bets with millionaires billionaires.

Hal was competitive, and he was determined to win the current $25,000 that sat in the betting pool.

All he had to do was get big blue and bats to admit their feelings for each other.

Seems easy, right?

Well, turns out that both the ‘Last Son of Krypton’ and the ‘World’s Greatest Detective’ were as dense as a bright wall covered in lead.

So, he was left with a dilemma.

How to get them to admit their feelings?

Hal drowned out Batman’s words as the meeting continued, it was worse than watching paint dry.

Scratch that, it was like watching paint dry, only for someone to spray it with water causing it to grow diluted and fluid all over again.

Hal grew restless as the meeting droned on, he thought back to the bet, it always lingered near the forefront of his mind.

He glanced over at Superman, who sat at the table, looking completely entranced by whatever safety protocols the bat was going over.

It was disgusting how in love he was.

The meeting was boring.

Until…

“The League should have a way to interact with the public, rather than relying on second hand information from other sources in case of emergencies.”

Batman’s words pulled Hal from his thoughts.

Hal sat up straight and listened.

Batman continued, formal, as usual.

“I am working on an untraceable phone line for civilians to call in-“

“Like an anonymous tip line?” Chimed the Kryptonian

“Yes Superman, precisely that.”

Like oxygen to an open flame, Hal interrupted the bat’s response and said with a flippant wave of his hand and an eye roll.

“Sounds boring.”

Batman sighed and set the tablet he was holding down onto the table as he turned to look at the space soldier, likely already dreading the mere idea of the man speaking.

“I suppose you have another idea, Lantern?”

“Yeah, I do, since you asked so nicely.” Hal drawled on with a grin.

Batman rolled his eyes.

“Social media pages. Connect with the people, or whatever”

“No.” Was the immediate, and expected response.

What wasn’t expected was Diana, Wonder Woman, agreeing with Harold Jordan of all people.

“I agree with Green Lantern, this way we can seem less like emotionless heroes and more like real people who want to help.”

He clapped his hands together once and shot finger guns and a mischievous wink over at Diana as he spoke.

“Bingo, Diana gets it! Who’s with me?”

He glanced over at Barry, his beloved, and raised a brow expectantly — ever since they’d gotten engaged Hal thought Barry should agree to the things he said more often — and waited for him to give a response or any kind of reaction.

Barry merely sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before grumbling reluctantly.

“I’m only agreeing because I think it could work.”

“Haha! Yes! That’s three votes, Spooky“ Hal whooped with a smug grin and dumb fist pump in the air.

“You need more than three for a majority vote.” The bat grunted as he crossed his arms in disapproval.

So.

The Justice League now had Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram accounts.

Nothing too flashy, just one post on Facebook and Instagram discussing the usage of these accounts and how they will not be used for anything other than emergencies and announcements.

Batman was the one who issued the overly formal posts.

Now it was time for Hal Jordan to execute his long awaited plan to get his hands on that sweet pile of cash.
