It's been years since the new ninjago city is in trouble. The old ninjas are still doing their jobs as usual, well not for the new ones… they were being layed off for a while now and since then they focused on other stuff. With Euphrasia helping the cloud kingdom and often went with Jordana. Wyldfyre is in the Feng Xian temple with Roby and her dragons. Frak well he's getting the hang of his new stuff to do with his father and Obscuria.
Now that's only left for Arin and Sora, the two were still very close than ever. With Sora living together with Arin and his parents in the monastery, she's also close with his mom. Not to mention her baking is improving (a little). “You're getting better at baking, Sora!” Jenny said as she and Sora were now in the kitchen baking some pastry puff, and Sora just grinning at the result. “Thankyou Mrs. Jenny” she put the pastry on the table, still hot and warm.
That's when Arin came into the kitchen with Barry behind him as the young adult ninja helping his father with groceries. “We're back!! Oh? You both make some puff pastry!!” He excitedly says and goes immediately to the table as Arin puts away the groceries and takes some of the pastry. Sora reminds him that it was still hot and fresh from the oven.
Too late for that, Arin yelped as his hand burned hot because of the pastry. “Akh?! Hot!! Too hot!” He shouts, juggling the pastry in his hands, still warm. Sora only giggles as she then takes a napkin and gives it to Arin, he immediately wraps it around his food so it wouldn't be that hot anymore. “Ouch, it still burns…. Thanks Sora!!” He thanked her and blew the steam to let the food cool off. When the food was already cool off, Arin then took a big bite out of it and munching it happily as his eyes went wide.
“This is very flakey and crispy! And the fillings too, it's very sweet!” He said with a big smile and gobbled it up in a second. Sora could only chuckle as she took the crumbs from Arin's face, “thanks! It was my 3rd time trying to bake that. It took me a very long time to do it just right!” She said as she takes some of it too and eats it, smiling at the success. To be the truth, Sora is really happy at her successful baking for him. She learned from his mother that the puff pastry was one of his favorite kinds.
“You're getting good at this Sora. Not to mention it's been a while isn't it since we have a mission going on?” He asked her as he watched his parents both go to the garden. Sora could only nod, come to think of it, they really haven't got any new mission for 3 months from now. Well she was quite disappointed but what can she and the others do? It's not like they were being abandoned or anything. They only rested for some times.
“With how the ninjas insisted we should take a break? Yeah it's been a while now…. But I'm not really that complaining either” she quietly said as both of them got quiet as they continued to eat their food. Arin's let out a laugh, “true. I mean they haven't been in work again after we took over for 7 years. And I heard Nya and Jay have a daughter now” Arin said as he remembered the last time he visited Jay and Nya, that both ninjas already had a baby daughter.
“Yeah no kidding, it feels like time running fast”
Sora then went to wash her hands and thought about the past. It's been really so long that they have come to this now, from the first time they meet Lloyd, to meeting new people and fighting crimes. To the thought of her and Arin arguing back at the tournament and making up about it and then they separated again, and now… well they both never mentioned their relationship now. Sure both were still dating and all, but well it's just complicated to describe for the next path.
That is until she felt a hand on her waist as Sora looked behind and saw Arin put his head on her shoulder. “still thinking about it again?” He asked with a small smile as he took her hand and kissed it. “We don't need to rush to describe what we had, you know? I'm comfortable with how it is now” he simply said which thankfully Sora let out a relieved sigh.
“I know. It's just been really long time and we still have a lot of times ahead to come”
That made Arin only chuckle and kiss her hand again, “well whatever it is. I know we can handle it”
Yeah, maybe he was right about that. Sora herself didn't need to worry about it, as long as they could find a way and handle it together. Like they always do.
