Work Text:
Exam season. Belle trudged her way through Amber Hall. Even Billy stood there despondent, only just managing to play games on his phone. The volume wasn't even cranked up like usual. She skipped dinner. Even the thought of eating was too much effort. At least there were snacks in her room. That would be enough to satisfy her stomach enough so she could fall asleep.
She quietly opened the door to her room and slipped in. Immediately she noticed a cool night breeze wash over her. It was refreshing for a moment, before realize that should not be happening. Belle flicked the lights on. There was someone in her bed, eating her snacks.
"Hey," Remielle said. As if it were normal for a wanted criminal to sneak into a poor woman's dorm room and eat her snacks.
This was bad. Belle was happy to see Remielle. She always was. Especially because something about that angel stirred a fire deep inside of Belle. But not in her dorm room.
Remielle glanced at the area of Belle's dorm room dedicated to her. Wanted posters decorated her walls. There were even a few feathers on display, or scattered about the room. There was a particularly large one on Belle's pillow. She liked the way it smelled. No, that wasn't weird. None of it was weird.
"I didn't realize you had a shrine dedicated to me," Remielle said.
"That's... not a shrine," Belle said. Her voice wasn't very convincing. It sounded more like a question, as if it could have been anything other than a shrine.
Remielle didn't seemed convinced. She also didn't seem to be in any hurry to stop eating her snacks.
"You should be thanking me, actually. Ive been taking down your wanted posters." Belle set her bag down on the floor and made her way to the bed.
"My hero," Remielle cooed. "And accomplice." She winked.
Secretly, or maybe not so secretly, Belle was entirely weak to this kind of teasing.
Finally Remielle decided to get up from Belle's bed. Though deep down maybe she wouldn't have minded her staying so much. She brushed her bangs out of her eyes and looked down at Belle with a gentle smile. That same smile she always greeted Belle with.
Belle didn't slink away from Remielle, but she didn't fall into her embrace as she usually did. Her body and mind both felt like they had been stretched then compressed like dough.
"Is now a bad time?" Remielle asked. Her eyes glanced away from Belle.
"No. No, there's never a bad time to see you. Today's just been a lot."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Remielle sat herself back down on the bed, throwing one leg over the other. In any other moment it would have been sexy. Today it had been knocked down to extremely cute. And attractive. "Is it exam season?" Her voice dropped to a whisper, as if saying the words too loud would bring back the mountains of paper and the smell of dread in the air.
Belle could only nod. It was still hard to find the energy to move. She just stood there, slightly wobbling. Her eyes strained to focus on Remielle's beautiful form. If it were any other day and that beautiful angel had made a surprise visit to her bed, well, things would have probably gone a lot different.
"Am I interrupting your studies?" Remielle asked. Her voice barely above a whisper, yet still with that unmistakable whine she used when she wanted attention.
"Not at all." A smile danced on Belle's lips.
"Good. I wanted to see you tonight."
Belle could feel her heart beat against her chest. Of course Remielle wanted to see her. It felt like she always wanted that. Belle would be lying if she didn't always want that too. The shrine on the wall made from wanted posters proved that enough. So did sleeping with a stray feather. Maybe Belle wanted a bit more than just seeing her.
Remielle motioned for Belle to join her on the bed. She obeyed. She could never deny a request to get close to Remielle. The gentle heat from her body already washed over her as Remielle scooted closer.
It was obvious that Remielle wanted a bit more conversation out of this meeting, but Belle had nothing left to give. Her head was basically empty, long since evacuated onto her exam paper. The only thought that swam through her mind was about how beautiful Remielle was. But that thought was always present. A bead of sweat trickled down Belle's cheek. Despite the open window and the cool night breeze, it sure felt hot.
Remielle giggled, half covering her mouth with the back of her hand.
"You look so serious," she said.
Belle sighed. "I think I'm just really tired." She gave a weak smile. No energy left to really express how happy she was to see Remielle. She twirled her thumbs in her lap.
Remielle noticed that, and smiled. "You do look tired."
There was something in her eyes. A familiar sparkle that Belle noticed when Remielle was planning something. She swallowed hard.
Wordlessly Remielle rose from her spot on the bed. She moved slowly to the window she had slipped in from and closed it. She glanced over at Belle, as if making sure that she was following every little movement, then sauntered over to the light switch. She flicked it off.
Belle had only grown more nervous, the feelings in her stomach fighting valiantly against the threat of sleep taking over at any moment.
The only light left in the room was what little filtered in from the streetlights beyond the window.
Remielle made her way back to bed.
"We don't have to talk. Really, I just want to spend time with you, Belle," she said. The extra emphasis placed on her name made Belle feel a certain way.
"I want to spend time with you, too," Belle said. Her eyes were closing on their own.
Belle could hear Remielle moving. She laid back, resting her head on Belle's pillow, with one leg resting on the other and her arms outstretched. She gestured for Belle to join.
It was an invitation that she certainly couldn't refuse. Belle rolled over and collapsed onto the bed with Remielle's arm caught beneath her. It was good enough.
But it wasn't good enough for Remielle. She teased Belle closer and closer, until her head was pressed softly against her chest. Belle's face beamed red, but she made no attempt to move. Remielle's arms closed tighter around her.
"Is this okay?" Remielle asked, her voice hardly a whisper.
"Of course it is." Belle took the chance to nuzzle closer. Remielle was just too soft, and Belle couldn't help herself.
Remielle giggled. The softness in her voice spread throughout Belle, filtering through everywhere it could, and settling in her stomach. Belle needed more, but sleep began to take hold.
"We should go on a date after your exams are over. My treat." Remielle sighed, squeezing Belle close. Her wings folded over and embraced her, wrapping the both of them together. "I just can't help but want to spoil you."
There was no response. She must have fallen asleep. Remielle could feel her own eyelids grow heavy. Every breath brought in more of Belle's scent. She closed her wings tighter. She didn't want Belle to ever leave her.
"If I could, I would keep you like this forever, wrapped in my embrace," Remielle whispered. Belle didn't stir.
Remielle smiled softly as her eyes fluttered shut.
