The sky over the ruins of Upstate New York cracked with a terrifying, apocalyptic tension. The smoke from Thanos’s warships hung low and suffocating, trapping the scent of burnt vibranium and blood against the scorched earth. On one side stood the Mad Titan, his double-bladed sword planted in the earth, surrounded by thousands of Outriders, Chitauri, and the Black Order. On the other side stood the unified front: the Avengers, the Wakandan forces, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the sorcerers, and the gods. Hundreds of heroes, bruised and bleeding, stood shoulder-to-shoulder, ready to give everything for the final stand. But then, a blinding flash of golden light sliced through the dust right in the dead space between the two armies. The battlefield went dead silent. Weapon barrels lowered slightly. Captain America tightened the strap on his shattered vibranium shield. Iron Man’s arc reactor whirred as his nanotech adjusted.
When the light faded, a lone figure stood in the rubble. He was small, his shoulders hunched, breathing heavily. The sleek, dark nanotech of the Iron Spider suit was covered in deep scores and alien blood.Peter Parker.Instantly, a collective shockwave of anger and betrayal rippled through the Avengers' ranks. Months ago, a string of heavily corrupted footage, forged satellite data, and whispers from cosmic defectors had pointed to a horrific conclusion: the kid from Queens had flipped. They believed he had survived the initial snap by striking a deal, providing Thanos with vital intelligence on Earth’s defences. They had confronted him, refused to listen to his desperate pleas, and ruthlessly cast him out, branding him a traitor.Seeing him arrive now, standing on the wrong side of the lines, the heroes let out a chorus of bitter, hateful jeers. Everyone had something cruel to throw at him."Look who finally decided to show his face," Star-Lord spat, a harsh, mocking laugh cutting through his comms as he raised his quad-blasters.
"What's the matter, Parker? Did Thanos's dental plan run out? You brought the whole damn circus right to our doorstep!""I knew we never should have trusted a street-level punk," Rhodey growled, his War Machine weapons systems whirring as they locked onto the teenager's chest. "You sold out your own species to a tyrant. You think you're getting mercy today? You're a target just like the rest of them.""Save the dramatic entry, kid," Clint Barton barked, his face twisted into a mask of pure, poisonous fury as he notched an explosive arrow. "You're a disease. You put a target on every single family on this planet just to save your own pathetic skin. You're a parasite.""A snake remains a snake, no matter how small," Nebula muttered coldly, drawing her batons with a sharp, lethal click.
"He sat at the Titan's table. He deserves to die with him.""You disgraced the shield, kid," Captain America said, his voice dropping into a cold, military baritone that carried no warmth. "We gave you a chance to be better. Instead, you chose to crawl back to the monster who tore our world apart.""I should have left you in the dust of Titan," Iron Man hissed, his voice mechanical and terrifying over his suit's external speakers. "I built that suit for a hero, Parker. Not for a turncoat begging for Thanos's scraps.""You dare stand before the gods of Asgard after dealing with the slaughterer of my people?" Thor roared, his eyes crackling with dangerous blue lightning as he gripped Stormbreaker. "Your treachery ends today, mortal.""How tragically predictable," Loki sneered from the shadows, his green cape fluttering as he flipped his daggers.
"A mortal child given a taste of a god's world, only to sell his soul to the highest bidder. Pathetic.""You brought shame to the path of the Sorcerer Supreme," Doctor Strange added coldly, his mystic Mandalas flaring with an aggressive, burning orange light. "You chose the wrong side of history, Peter.""You are no warrior of Earth," Black Panther boomed, the Wakandan forces behind him shifting their spears forward in perfect, deadly unison. "You are an enemy to the throne and an enemy to our world.""Yeah, we're gonna tear those metal legs right off your back, kid!" Rocket yelled, charging his heavy blaster with a vicious click."The boy has chosen the path of the dishonourable," Drax grunted, slamming his twin knives together.
"He will bleed like the rest of the Titan's filth."Only Natasha Romanoff and Wanda Maximoff stood perfectly frozen, a sickening wave of doubt and horror washing over them. They heard the cruel, biting words of the team, and they saw the way Peter’s shoulders slumped under the weight of the verbal assault. Deep down, they had always felt something was wrong with the evidence—Peter was just a kid, a good kid—and the overwhelming guilt of their own silence began to suffocate them.Peter didn't look back at them. He couldn't. If he looked at Tony Stark's face, or let himself listen to the burning hatred in the voices of the people he used to call family, he would break entirely. He didn't try to explain. He didn't cry out that he had spent the last several months undercover, bleeding in the dark, surviving on the fringes of the galaxy just to find a way to stop this. He knew they hated him. He knew they wouldn't believe a word he said.Instead, Peter locked his eyes on the six glowing Infinity Stones resting in the metal housing of the Nano Gauntlet in the dirt. With a desperate, explosive burst of agility, Peter ignited the thrusters on his battered Iron Spider suit and lunged forward.
Tony didn't hesitate. The nanotech on his right arm reshaped into a heavy repulsor cannon. A blinding beam of energy slammed directly into Peter's ribs mid-air, blasting the teenager sideways into a concrete partition. Peter crashed hard, coughing violently, the wind knocked completely out of his lungs."Stay down, Parker!" Tony yelled, his voice cracking with a terrifying mixture of betrayal and fury. He rocketed forward, his boosters tearing up the dirt, fully intending to pin the boy to the ground before he could hand the stones to Thanos. But Peter rolled through the dust, his mechanical spider-legs deploying from his back to push him up. He didn't fight back. He didn't fire a single web at Tony. He just ran harder, dodging a massive, sweeping swing from Captain America's shattered vibranium shield. Steve Rogers' face was etched with a cold, militaristic grimness; he lunged to tackle Peter, but the kid slid beneath his boots, his eyes streaming with tears inside his mask.
"Thor! Stop him!" Carol Danvers shouted as she flew intercept, firing a photon blast that detonated the ground inches from Peter's feet.A thunderous roar split the sky. Thor descended like a meteor, Stormbreaker raised high. The sky turned pitch black as a massive bolt of lightning arced off his axe, striking Peter directly in the chest. The cosmic electricity short-circuited the Iron Spider suit, sending Peter skidding wildly across the ash on his back, his body convulsing from the shock.Through the static of his failing HUD, Peter saw Thanos moving toward the gauntlet.No. Please, no, Peter thought.Ignoring the agonizing heat of the lightning burns, Peter forced his trembling legs to move. He threw himself forward, a raw, desperate scream tearing from his throat. He leaped toward the gauntlet, but he didn't try to put the massive, oversized glove on. Instead, his own nanotech suit flared, the fingers of his right glove shifting and expanding. With a brutal yank, Peter ripped all six Infinity Stones right out of the gauntlet’s housing. The stones instantly bonded with his own nanotech glove. The battlefield fell utterly, shockingly silent. The reaction was agonizingly slow.
A violent, blinding grid of multi-coloured light—Power, Mind, Soul, Reality, Space, Time—surged straight up Peter's arm. The nanotech of his suit didn't just recede; it melted, screaming away from his skin as the raw cosmic energy began to eat his flesh. Peter fell to his knees, his jaw locked in a silent, world-ending scream. The veins in his neck bulged, turning a terrible, glowing violet.Tony Stark froze mid-air, his repulsors instantly dying. Thor's axe lowered an inch.Peter brought his charred, nanotech-encased fingers together.SNAP.The white shockwave tore through the ruins, gentle against the heroes but lethal to the horde. Across the field, the Chitauri vanished into smoke. The Outriders turned to ash mid-stride. Thanos stumbled back, looking at his fading hands, before dissolving into the wind. The heavy cosmic energy left Peter's suit sputtering. Deprived of the strength keeping him upright, his fifteen-year-old body collapsed sideways into the dirt.
The nanotech rolled back from his face, leaving his mask behind, revealing the bruised, bleeding, and pale face of a child. His chest rose and fell in shallow, agonizingly slow hitches as he passed out cold. For a long, agonizing moment, nobody moved. The massive circle of heroes, gods, and soldiers closed in, staring in absolute, paralyzed shock. Then, a sharp click cut through the quiet.Star-Lord stepped forward from the edge of the circle, his quad-blasters drawn and leveled directly at Peter’s motionless body. His face was twisted into a mask of pure, defensive panic. "Don't touch him," Quill snapped, his voice trembling as he looked around at the gathering heroes. "Are you guys blind? Look at what just happened!"Tony Stark didn't look up from Peter's side, his own armor retracting in a frantic, trembling rush. "Lower the guns, Quill," Tony said, his voice dangerously low, a terrifying edge cutting through his confusion."No! Think about it!" Quill yelled, his eyes darting frantically between the Avengers and the kid. "He was working for Thanos! We know he was. He didn't come back here to save us. He ripped the stones into his own suit because he wanted that power for himself! He was probably trying to snap us out of existence, but he couldn't handle the cosmic feedback. He messed up his own weapon and accidentally nuked his own team!""He’s faking it," Quill spat, his jaw tight as he stepped even closer, refusing to lower his weapons. "Look at him. He’s using the kid routine because he knows he’s trapped. He stole the stones, he tried to wipe us out, and now that his suit is fried, he wants us to feel sorry for him. Don't fall for the tears.""Save the performance, kid," Clint barked, his finger tightening on the bowstring, his eyes hard and unyielding. "You think a few cuts make up for what you did? You sold us out to a monster.
Now your boss is dust and you're begging? You're a coward.""He's a security threat, plain and simple," Rhodey added, his armor whirring as his shoulder cannons tracked Peter's slight, trembling movements. "We need to restrain him. Now."The cruel, biting words sliced through the air, completely deaf to the fact that the fifteen-year-old child in front of them was actively bleeding out from the injuries they had caused. At the front of the inner circle, Natasha Romanoff and Wanda Maximoff stood perfectly frozen, the sheer, suffocating weight of their grief completely breaking them. Tears streamed freely down Natasha's dirt-streaked face. She had prided herself on being a spy who could spot a lie, but she had let the fake evidence blind her. She had just stood there and watched Thor blast him."Quill, Clint, shut up," Natasha whispered, her voice cracking as she stepped past them, ignoring the weapons. "Look at him. He didn't miss. If he wanted us dead, the stones wouldn't have spared a single one of us.
He targeted the army. Just the army."Beside her, Wanda’s knees buckled completely. She dropped into the ash, her hands pressed tightly over her mouth to stifle a raw, agonizing sob. Her chaos magic flickered weakly around her fingers like dying embers. She had looked into Peter's mind weeks ago and seen nothing but blinding fear and confusion, yet she had let the team's collective anger sway her. She had stayed silent. The guilt tore through her chest like a physical blade as she stared at his still, small form, knowing they had hunted him right up until the final second.Every single magic user, every Wakandan soldier, every Avenger stood in that vast, grieving ring. The wind blew the ash across Peter's still, fragile body.Suddenly, a weak, ragged gasp cut through the voices.Peter’s body convulsed slightly as he sat up. The agonizing pain from the cosmic feedback—and the brutal injuries from the Avengers' attack—surged through him all at once. He coughed, a dark splash of blood staining the ash beneath him. With a desperate, trembling effort, he forced his left elbow under his torso and slowly pushed himself up into a seated position. His battered suit let out a weak, electronic hiss, and the shattered nanotech of his mask slowly receded, rolling back into the collar of his suit to reveal his face. The entire allied army seemed to draw a collective, suffocating breath.Peter's face was completely unrecognizable. Dark purple, swollen bruises ringed his eyes and jaw where the concussive force of their attacks had battered him. Deep, jagged cuts lined his cheeks and forehead, sluggishly dripping fresh blood down his chin and staining his torn collar.
A horrific, branching pattern of electrical burns from Thor’s lightning webbed across his neck, the skin raw and blistering. But it was his eyes that broke the remaining silence. They were wide with a raw, defensive terror, overflowing with hot, heavy tears that cut clean tracks through the soot and blood on his pale face.He looked at Star-Lord’s guns. He looked at Clint's arrow. Then he looked up at Tony.Peter instinctively flinched away, dragging his broken body backward a few inches in the dirt, his uninjured hand weakly coming up to shield his face. He expected another repulsor blast. He expected them to finish what they started."P-Please," Peter choked out, his voice incredibly small, cracking with a child's desperate, suffocating panic. Fresh tears spilled over his swollen eyelids. "Don't... don't hit me again. I didn't... I didn't help him. I promise I didn't..."The realization hit the crowd like a physical blow. The accusations of Quill and Clint hung in the air, suddenly sounding incredibly hollow and monstrous against the desperate cries of a bleeding child.Wanda didn’t wait for an answer from the bickering heroes. The sheer disgust twisting her stomach overrode every ounce of restraint she had left. Her crimson eyes flared, blindingly bright, as she snapped both of her hands outward.A massive, violent shockwave of pure chaos magic erupted from her palms, tearing through the ash-choked air. The deep red energy didn't hit them like a weapon—it hit their minds. Every single person in the massive circle—the Avengers, the Guardians, the sorcerers, the gods, and the entire Wakandan army—stiffened instantly. Their eyes went completely blank, trapped in a vice grip of telepathic power as Wanda forcibly dragged Peter’s memories out and slammed them into the minds of the entire battlefield.Suddenly, they weren't standing in the ruins of the compound anymore. They were experiencing everything Peter had lived through over the last agonizing months. The illusion ripped into their minds.First came the raw, suffocating isolation. They felt the crushing weight of the day they had branded him a traitor and thrown him out.
They felt Peter’s fifteen-year-old heart shattering into a million pieces as Tony Stark turned his back on him. They felt the cold, desperate terror of a child homeless, penniless, and completely alone, hunted by the very people he had looked up to as gods. The scene shifted violently. The crowd gasped collectively as they were forced to feel the physical agony of Peter's undercover mission on a harsh, barren alien world. They saw him bleeding in the dark, his suit torn to shreds, coughing up black dust in the underbelly of a Chitauri scrap freighter. They felt the phantom burning of a jagged blade slicing into his ribs from a skirmish with Thanos's scouts—a wound he had to stitch himself, in silence, weeping from the sheer pain and hunger, whispering Tony’s name into the empty vacuum of space. They saw him tracking the Infinity Stones. They watched through his eyes as he discovered the coordinates of Thanos's impending ambush on Earth. He hadn't leaked data to help the Titan—he had hacked the Black Order's frequencies at the cost of nearly being tortured to death, just to find out where the army was going so he could get there first to protect them.
"Please," Peter’s memory-self whispered in the dark, shivering violently on a freezing asteroid. "Please let them survive. Please let Tony be okay."The final memory hit them like a physical blow. They felt the sheer, agonizing betrayal of jumping through the golden portal today, expecting to finally help his family, only to be met with Tony's brutal repulsor blast, the mocking insults from his allies, and the blinding, white-hot agony of Thor’s lightning tearing through his lungs. They felt the terrifying realization that the people he loved were actively trying to murder him. And yet, through all of that pain and hatred, they felt his singular, unchanging thought as he lunged for the stones: Save them. Save them anyway. With a sharp, concussive snap, Wanda severed the connection. The entire battlefield stumbled backward, gasping for air as if they had just been dragged out of deep water. The telepathic link broke, leaving hundreds of seasoned warriors trembling in the dirt. The silence that followed was horrifying.Star-Lord dropped to his knees, his hands shaking so violently he couldn't even look at the weapons he had just pointed at the kid. The arrogance was completely drained from his face, replaced by a sick, hollow guilt.Clint Barton stared at his bow as if it were a poisonous viper, slowly unnotching the arrow. His jaw trembled, the memory of his own cruel words ringing in his ears, making him feel physically nauseous. He had called a kid a coward—a kid who had suffered more in a few months to save the world than Clint had in years. Rhodey’s War Machine armor powered down completely, the heavy targeting systems clicking shut.
He looked at his hands, disgusted by the security threat protocol he had just tried to enforce on a dying child.Tony Stark was completely broken. He didn't just weep; he collapsed beside Peter, his hands hovering over the boy's blistered, bleeding shoulders. The memories of Peter's loneliness, his hunger, and his desperate prayers for Tony’s safety tore through the billionaire's soul."Pete..." Tony choked out, a raw, strangled sob escaping his throat as he finally wrapped his arms gently around the trembling, terrified teenager, pulling him close. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry, kiddo... I've got you. I swear to God, I've got you."Peter, still shaking from the residual pain of the snap, weakly buried his bruised face into Tony’s shoulder, his tears soaking into the fabric as the realization slowly dawned on the silent, grieving army that they had almost destroyed their own savior.
