Work Text:

Martin Edwards, a young but skilled sniper prodigy under BigHit agency─ an agency known for its experienced employees and advanced technology.

At the young age of eighteen, Martin is a pretty known sniper there, not only for his precision, but also his ability to stay hidden, even with his tall height. What he was also known for though, is the young age he got scouted at. He was only fifteen when he got scouted.

His mom went to the bathroom, from what he remembered. He was just on his phone, scrolling away, as he leaned against the wall, right next to him being the opening to the bathrooms.

He looked up as he saw a shadow get closer to him, and in front of him was a man, who was taller than him at the time. They barely exchanged a couple words until said man handed him some business card.

Martin wasn't the type to keep business cards, would usually threw them away the moment he could, but this time? He seemed… interested? Especially when this card only had some address on it and a name─ Bighit agencies.

And who was Martin without his curiosity?

And so that's how he's now here, a known sniper under Bighit agencies.

But there was something the agencies didn't know─ Martin Edwards, The Prodigy, had a boyfriend. And that boyfriend was the son of a famous technology CEO.

Kim & Co., one of the biggest companies in Seoul. And their CEO had an 18 year old son, who he would protect with his whole life.

His name was Juhoon. Kim Juhoon. He was pretty, gorgeous even. Small nose, face and expressive eyes. His hair wasn't necessarily long, but there was a lot of it, with fluffy brown locks resting on his neck, which Martin's fingers would play with all day if he could

He was quiet, at first, but once you got to know him? He is one of the nicest guys you'd meet. Pretty face, nice, funny… what is there to not love about him?

He was also pretty athletic, liking football ever since he was a wee little lad, so there were just endless things for Martin to love.

─ "Martini!"

Martin turned around at the familiar voice, and he could see Juhoon walking towards him and Juhoon picked up his pace the moment the taller spotter him

Martin smiled as Juhoon stopped a few feet away from him,

─ "Jju!" Martin spoke, "Whats up?"

─ "I'm fine, " Juhoon replied, finding the Canadian's hand, "You got here early?"

He shook his head, "Nah, just now, Jju," Martin couldn't help but glance down at the other's lips, "You?"

─ "I got here not long ago," Juhkkn started, walking towards their class, "My dad drove me. You have maths right?"

─ "Yeah.."

They walked in silence, through the loud corridors. Their maths class was just a couple door down, so they easily got there. Juhoon immediately spotted Seonghyeon getting out of his seat, and soon saw Keonho walking up to him.

And of course, the pink blush on Keonho's cheeks jumping in his face.

Juhoon and Keonho were pretty close, and of course knee about his fat crush on Seonghyeon. Keonho always tried to leave hints and asked for advice from the older, and he thinks that barely now Seonghyeon started catching up on the hints and stopped being oblivious.

And honestly? Keonho was the oblivious one.

Keonho looked up as the professor greeted the couple, and he waved him over.

─ "Hyungs!" The puppy-like boy spoke, slinging his backpack over his shoulder, "You guys have math now?"

Both Martin and Juhoon nodded, and Juhoon let go of the other's hands, "Why do you think we're in the class-?"

─ "I don't know-! Maybe you guys were being kind and decided to pick us up…" keonho pouted, and Seonghyeon let out a small laugh,

─ "Stop pouting, Keonho-ya.. You have me," the boy patted Keonho on his shoulder, giving him a small smile which made Keonho's heart skip a beat.

─ "Y-yeah.. "

Martin tried to surlress his laugh at the younger's reaction, before speaking up himself, interrupting the two's moment.

─ "We still hanging out after school right? James got the day off from work."

─ "Duh" Juhoon spoke, glancing towards the others, waiting for confirmation

─ "I'm down," Keonho shrugged, and Seonghyeon just nodded, adding, "What time again?"

─ "Six. In front of that store two blocks down." Martin spoke, placing his things down on his table.

The tower hummer, stretching before slinging his backpack over his right shoulder, placing his other hand in his front pocket, "We'll get going," He turned towards Keonho, "We have chemistry."

─ "With?" Juhoon asked, and Martin followed

─ "Mr. Song." Seonghyeon replied, dramatically in pain as he let out a low

─ "Myeah, sorry for you bro," Martin spoke with a scoff, and the two just rolled their eyes.

The maths professor stood up, shooing Seonghyeon and Keonho out of the classroom.

Eventually, the students gatherer and the professor started teaching. It was over all quiet, the only sounds being Mrs. Park's voice, the marker against the board and the students' quiet whispers around them.

Juhoon turned and spotted Martin leaning his cheek against his hand which was propped up on the table. He smiled as he opened his mouth,

─ "How's the job?"

─ "Hm?" Martin's eyebrows furrowed, confused

─ "You told me some time ago that you got a job, but never told me what it was," Juhoon cleared up, leaning in, "When are you going to tell me what it is? It's not like you're a secret agent or something," he laughed quietly

─ "Hah.. Yeah.." Martin laughed, awkwardly "Well.. Not exactly an agent.." He thought

─ "So? How's it been?"

Martin straightened, trying to come up with something rather than just 'good'. He knew Juhoon hated those answers and always asked to elaborate.

─ "It was.. Fine," He began, and Juhoon wanted to interject, annoyed, before he continued, "A new guy came in the other day."

─ "And how is he?"

─ "He's okay.. A newbie, of course, but he does have experience." Martin shrugged, and Juhoon just nodded, focusing back on the lesson.

The teacher continued, something about some new theorem and how to use it, dropping observations about talking students. Eventually, the ball rang, and the teacher cut herself off from teaching, giving a small smile to her students.

─ "Dismissed," She spoke up, as the teens started getting up from their seats, "Dont forget about the assignment due on Friday!"

─ "Assignment-? How do math assignments even work?!" Martin whined, grabbing his backpack from the ground.

─ "Yeah, i don't know," Juhoon sighed, already walking out of his seat, waiting for Martin to follow, "Mrs. Park is confusing."

Martin groaned, following Juhoon as they walked kit. The hallways were current calm as break just started and students were still coming out of their classrooms. Juhoon walked up to his locker, putting his books inside as Martin got a notification. He took out his phone from his pocket, reading the message.

─ "Who is it?" Juhoon turned, looking up at the Canadian

─ "Just my boss, nothing important," Martin spoke, too quickly, still reading the message.

─ "What'd he say?"

─ "Nothing much, just.." Martin trailed off, closing his phone, "I can't come to the hangout tonight."

Juhoon's lips turned into a pout, brows narrowing as he spoke up, "Why not-?! Can't you tell him you're busy tonight and you can't make it?" He pushed his locker closed, holding the book for their next class.

─ "It's doesn't work like that, Jju-" The other sighed, "He's pretty strict and doesn't rely let me skills, only when I'm extremely sick and he realized the day before-"

─ "Can't you do something? It's the only day James isn't working!"

─ "Can't we meet next week?" Martin bargained, looking down at his boyfriend either a sigh

─ "Keonho had a doctor's appointment next week, you know that." Juhoon spoke, sternly, crossing his arms over his chest

Martin just sighed, his shoulders slouching as he closed his own locker, putting his backpack on his shoulders. He was disappointed, but his boss's messages ran through his head.

"Cancel all your plans tonight."

"You have a new hit."

"Be here at 19:15 and text me back when you can."

The only other thing his boss has sent was a link with the target's current position, though he didn't bother opening it. He focused back on Juhoon, smiling at the older boy, and he gave a weak, upset smile back. Martin could feel the disappointment on Juhoon's face, and his smile faltered at the edges.

─ "Hey," He spoke up, "If I'm free tomorrow, how about I take you out? That sushi place you love." He bent slightly, his hands finding Juhoon's hips as he spoke

Juhoon thought for a couple moments, placing his palms on Martin's chest before letting out a reluctant sigh, "Fine. But on my if you pay."

─ "I didn't expect anything else to happen." Martin laughed, leaning down to capture Juhoon's lips in a kiss

Juhoon smiled into the action, hooking his arms around the taller's neck, slightly lifting himself up on the tips of his toes to do so. His smile only widened as they pulled away, and he couldn't hell but playfully smack the name of his neck as he he spoke,

─ "You're lucky I love you." Juhoon teased, and Martin rolled his eyes

─ "C'mon, Jju, chemistry." Martin tapped his side, letting go of his waist as Juhoon let out a groan.

Martin could predict the rest of the day, just finished classes, do as much as you can of that assignment dude on Friday, and do his job and whatever else he has to do today. That's all.

He stepped foot inside the building at 7pm sharp, the building that was described as a casual office building. He wondered why he couldn't just say that he worked here? He considered it before realizing he had absolutely no knowledge in corporate jobs, and while would accept some 18 year old? Plus, he was still in school and he was sure Juhoon knew he wasn't capable of sitting in a chair, hours a day

─ "Mr. Bahng is waiting for you," A passing employee walked by─ Louis, another young sniper from France, but he was still in training.

Martin laughed as Louis gave him a quick Pat on the shoulder. Him and the Line were close, often hanging out at lunch or in their free time.

─ "You got training?" Martin stopped, turning towards the French.

─ "Yeah, why?" Louis nodded, turning his head.

─ "Wanna hang out afterwards? After I'm done." Martin finishes, and Louis nodded, "I don't see why not," Louis agreed, shrugging, before they continued their way; Louis to the training grounds and Martin to his boss's office.

It was a lie honestly, Martin enjoyed his boss's work and actually found him a nice guy, but he was demanding when it came to absences.

He presses the elevator button, leaning against the wall beside as he pulled out his phone. He opened his messages all, seeing whatever notification he got. The corners of his lips tugged up as he saw messages from his Juhoon,

My Jju <3

Heyy, I just left

Photo attached

Thats a lie, im still getting ready

Love you <3, good luck

Martin smiled at the text, walking in the elevator, as he pushed the button for the last floor, heartung the message─ A picture with Juhoon in the mirror, a grey sweater and some light jorts on, as well as some dark DC's on paired with white socks. He couldn't hell but glance at his plump lips, the ones he loved, which were puckered, before noticing the hand on his head as he looked into the camers

His thoughts got disturbed by the sound of the elevator, singing to announce it's arrival. He walked towards the door, knocking on the wood before hearing a gruff "Come in" from the other side

Bang Chan was sitting at his desk, a file in his hand. He tossed it on the other side of the desk a couple moments after

─ "You have information here, like usual," The man said, leaning back into his chair as he picked on some skin around his

Martin nodded, taking and opening the file. The only rhing he found was info about the main target─ Some famous CEO. Reading the name, a bulb lit up in his head─ Juhoon's dad. His beloved's dad was the one who he had to kill.

Or was he?

─ "Something happen?" Chan asked, looking up at the taller as he spoke

─ "No it's just..? " Martin paused, "I know him."

─ "He's famous, I would've been concerned if you didn't." Chan retorted

Martin nodded, sliding the file back to his boss. "Be in the back in five. Changbin will drive you there. You already have all your heart in the trunk." Chan spoke, turning back to his documents on the table, "Any questions?"

─ "Eta?" Martin turned

─ "Not long, about an hour and thirty. It takes you more to get there than the job itself." Chan glanced at Martin, watching the younger nod to himself, finally leaving the room

A guilt fell upon Martin as he walked downstairs ─ What do you wanna he'll have to kill his boyfriend's dad?! He was so nice too! Why wouldn't Change pick another CEO?

Changbin smiled as he looked up at Martin. Changbin was older, but he was significantly shorter than Martin, but hey, the muscles made up for the lost height.

─ "Martin," Changbin spoke, giving the younger a firm handshake, "How's school?"

─ "'s fine," He smiled, getting into the back seat, as Changbin hopped into the driver's

Changbin was one of Martin's closest employees, experienced in hand to hand combat and strength, but when he was free, he drove the snipers to their Vantage points.

─ "Anything new at school? Grades? Teachers? Girlfriend?" Changbin teased

─ "Changbin-nim.." Martin rolled his eyes, but a smile appeared on his lips, "'s okay, I got a math assignment on Friday."

─ "Math assignment? Like, solving problems right?" Changbin started the car, already driving to the location

─ "No, surprisingly. I have to write about some theorems." Martin rolled his eyes, and Changbin narrowed his eyebrows in confusion

─ "okay, yeah, I don't know how that works"

Martin laughed at Changbin's reaction, and he nodded in agreement. The ride was quiet, and they soon arrived at the Vantage point─ a tall building, about 12 floors. One thing he noticed that it was closed to Juhoon'd apartment, which he visited a thousand times now.

He pulled the mask over his face, and quickly got out of the car, opening the trunk and taking his equipment. At the same time, Juhoon wrote a quick "I just left" text, which Martin didn't notice, too busy to head to the rooftop.

─ "Martin." Martin could hear Changbin speak up from his comms, "He's out in 5. Be ready by then."

─ "All set up. Tell me when." Martin spoke, looking through the scope for any sight of the CEO.

Martin paused, looking around the entrance, focused on meeting the dot with the target's head.

─ "He's out, get ready for my signal," The man on the comms spoke

─ "What-? I don't see Mr. Kim though-" Martin spoke, confused, instead spotting Juhoon walking down the stairs, the blonde highlights in his hair unmistakably him

─ "It's not the CEO you have to shoot, Martin, its his son! "

Martin's blood ran cold. His whole body stiffening at the words that came out of Bang Chan's mouth.

His son?

Kim Juhoon?

His beloved boyfriend?

His hands started to shake, the aim icon faltering, making Chan narrow his eyes as he looked into the camera.

A million thoughts ran through his head, finger shivering on the trigger as his heartbeat accelerating.

─ "Edwards, what the fuck are you doing?! " Chan's tone turned annoyed, sitting straighter in his seat

Martin's breath quickened.

─ "Edwards, take the shot!"

He gulped.

─ "What are you waiting for?!"

His eyes started to water

─ "EDWARDS TAKE THE SHOT! "

A small tear fell from his eyes, "I'm so sorry, my love.." He muttered. Unnoticed by his boss

─ "Edwards, shoot the target right now!"

Bang.

Martin's breath hitched as the bullet hit Juhoon's head, blood spilling out of his beloved's as people around rushed to the boy, shouting worried. He let go of the gun, falling to his knees as more tears threatened to fall. His face fell into his hands, sobbing quietly, praying that his boyfriend magically survived the shot and that his mic was muted.

Specifically that hit dear Juhoon survived.

Chan sighed into the comms, slightly mad but not disappointed, "Good job, Edwards."

Martin kept quiet, but he recognized his boss's tone─ expecting an answer. He didn't care anymore. His boyfriend was dead and he couldn't do anything about it.

─ "Martin." Chan spoke up, to no answer, "Martin, do you copy?"

The Canadian took a shaky breath, eyes red and puffy as he tried to mask his hitchy voice, "Y-Yes sir."

Chan nodded, and Martin could feel it. His eye narrowed as he heard Martin's quiet sobs and sniffles, figuring that the younger forgot to close his mic. Though he didn't comment, not wanting to jump into conclusions.

─ "Get back to the corp, Edwards. Stop wasting time."

Martin didn't answer, muttering quiet apologies as he watched the crowd and ambulance get to the scene.

That was the day Martin died.

Unfortunately, not physically.
