Summary
Ten years after Cas' confession and death, Dean has worked through grief and lots of mental and physical health issues to settle in Sioux Falls after renovating Bobby's house into a home. On the exact anniversary of that night in the dungeon, Castiel crash-lands in the trees behind Dean's house, initially unconscious and low on grace. With the help and support of their friends and family, the two figure out how to readjust to a type of peace they'd assumed they would never get to have together, and the ghosts of Dean's now-redundant grief.
They fight to get out of their own way, insecurities and hang-ups finally resolved so they can let themselves be happy as grumpy old men together in the home that Dean built around Cas' memory.In between domestic squabbles, Cas' martyr complex, and the lack of distractions when there's no end of the world, the two most dramatic men in the multiverse finally learn how to sit down and talk.
