    Hudson pulled at a piece of parchment and flattened it against the wooden surface of the table. It was old, and mostly blank save for a single sentence written in elegant, looping cursive.

    The sentence cut off abruptly, its final words blurred out by a magical smudge that wouldn't disappear.

    "Without what?" Callum leaned over Hudson’s shoulder.

    "It’s called an enchanted script," Hudson murmured. "It expects a specific action to undo the spell, so until we perform that action, the text stays hidden."
