Work Text:

Miorine was returning from her job to her house on Earth, exhausted from the sheer amount of work that has recently been on her shoulders to bear. Despite that, she was anticipating her return to her place. After all, she was expecting her wife – Suletta – to be there. She hasn’t seen her in a couple of long, painful days, and the only thing she wanted at the moment was to cuddle into Suletta’s arms.

After a couple of minutes of walking, lightened up by the sheer thought of meeting her wife again, she has finally arrived at her home. She couldn’t help as to smile when touching the door knob, as she knew that if her wife was awake, she would jump her down with excitement.

“I’m home!” she exclaimed as she was pushing the wooden door inwards. Not even a second passed until she could hear her footsteps coming from upstairs – they were hasty and full of elation. As the footsteps began growing louder and louder, she could see a figure coming down from the wooden stairs across her eyesight – it was her wife, Suletta.

Immediately after descending the stairs, the figure jumped at Miorine, embracing her tenderly. “Aah! I’m so glad you’re back!” said Suletta. Even though Miorine couldn’t see it, she felt that those words were spoken with a humongous grin on Suletta’s face – a testament to authenticity of her reaction. After saying those words, she tightened her arms’ grip around her and wiggled her head back and forth against her neck with closed eyes.

Miorine let go of her suitcase she has been carrying, allowing her to free her arms in order to give Suletta a hug back. That moment could probably last forever to both of them. Despite not being apart from each other for that long, both craved one another’s presence at all times during that absence. Smelling Suletta’s hair, Miorine felt entranced in the aroma she has not smelled in a long, long time.

After that long – but still not long enough – embrace, Suletta’s pulled her head in order to give her returning wife a welcome kiss. While still embracing one another, both of their heads have straightened, fixing a gaze between them. Before long, Suletta’s closed distance between them, letting their lips touch for just a fleeting moment, before pulling away.

“Are you tired?” asked Suletta after returning her head to the previous position.

“A little,” replied Miorine. “But I’m okay now.”

“I was wondering—” said Suletta with hesitation. “I was wondering if you’d want to go on a walk for a little bit.”

Miorine’s eyes brightened. Sure, she was tired, but how could she refuse when her wife asked her in such a sweet manner? “Alright, now?” she asked.

“Sure.” Suletta grinned.

After that, Suletta fully pulled away from Miorine’s embrace. She pulled out her hand in direction to Miorine’s, expecting her to join, which Miorine, obviously, did. The fingers of Suletta’s right hand, as well as Miorine’s left hand, interlocked together, something that still, after those 3 years, brought joy to Suletta. And so they headed outside. Their house was situated in the middle of nowhere. Wheat fields could be seen north and south, west and east. They decided to walk down together the path to the north, on the opposite side of the front door.

“Was work alright?” asked Suletta cheerfully, looking briefly at her spouse. Although ‘cheerfully’ might be redundant, as almost every question she would ask on their walk was asked in a cheerful way.

“Yes, it was okay,” replied Miorine, smiling briefly at Suletta.

Walking down the path, the scenery was divided almost equally between the sky and the fields, without a single soul in sight – something you would expect from your usual Earthian countryside. Every once in a while, they made sure to rub one another’s hand with theirs, sparkling a small giggle from both every time. They kept talking their minds off, conversations mostly consisting of Mercurian native questions fueled by curiosity about Miorine’s business trip.

Suddenly, Suletta asked a question to Miorine. “Do you think I should visit Mercury sometime soon?” she asked. Their pace slowed down a little.

“Do you want to?” asked the wife. “If you want to, of course you should,” she added.

“Yes, but... would you be okay with that?” replied Suletta. Miorine slowed down even more, now walking mere centimeters per step. As Suletta looked back to see what had happened, she could see her wife was filled with visible agitation, turning her smile upside down into a frown. Noticing that, Suletta was very quick to say with concern. “A-Are you mad at me? I- I didn’t mean it I won’t go if you don’t want me to—”

“Are you out of your mind?” interrupted Miorine in a frustrated tone. “I’m just upset you think that I wouldn’t be okay with that,” she added.

“I— didn’t mean—” said Suletta.

“Relax. I know you don’t control it,” she interrupted again. “Well, I will allow you to go under one circumstance.”

“What is it?” asked Suletta, clearly worried about what was about to follow the question.

“You are going to take me with you,” said Miorine, “After all, I have never been to Mercury. Don’t you think your wife should see your home planet?”

Upon hearing that, Suletta brightened up immediately. “Of course! I always wanted to go there with you,” she jumped.

“Plus, it’s not like I would you to go alone, maybe you would find a new bride there~” said Miorine in a clearly ironic voice, so ironic that even Suletta could understand the sarcasm behind it. Even if she didn’t notice, Miorine giggling soon after saying those words would’ve given it away either way.

The pair picked up the pace again and strayed off the path, into the adjacent fields, wheat reaching to Suletta’s knees and Miorine’s thighs. “Hey, it’s not like I would not!” said Suletta brightly with a giggle and rolling eyes, still holding Miorine’s hand.

“Hmm… No, I don’t think you would,” replied the white haired woman, allowing the bit to go for a bit longer.

“I tota— wah!” started Suletta before cutting off in order to let out a scream. She tripped over a small stone due to inattention, which caused her to collapse on wheat before Miorine, who, not long after, has stumbled over her bride and was met with similar fate. Fortunately, Miorine’s quick reflexes allowed her to support herself by her arms. That being said, Suletta, unfortunately, was not able to do the same and fell, flat, to her face.

Quickly, Suletta turned around in order to notice that her head was right below Miorine’s, in between of her arms. Realizing this, Suletta reddened around her cheeks. It was an incredibly embarrassing coincidence. However, to the red hair’s surprise, Miorine did not immediately get up from that position, and instead, she only, with a blush on her face, lowered the distance between them, making their chests touch. Their heads being now only mere inches of each other caused her to blush even more, which was very visible due to her extremely pale skin. From that point onward, Suletta and Miorine only gazed into one another’s eyes for a couple, very long feeling, seconds, until Miorine started touch the cheeks of her wife with her hands, causing both of them to blush even more, which at that point was a very impressive achievement.

Before either of them knew it, their lips started to slightly open and magnetize to one another with each moment. And suddenly, their lips conjoined. They started softly kissing, with slow, tender movements full of care and desire. Their lips danced around with each other, and neither of them wanted to pull apart. They were embracing the other party’s lips with theirs. Suletta’s lips were soft and wet, while Miorine’s were slightly dry, due to work. This did not discourage Suletta, though, and soon enough Miorine’s lips became wet as well.

After some time of making out, which was only interrupted by the need to gasp for air, Miorine pulled apart her lips, to sight of Suletta’s desperately gasping for air. Quickly grabbing air, Miorine returned to Suletta’s lips in order to give her a couple of smooches, before letting go completely and rolling over to Suletta’s left side. Lying right beside each other, they looked at one another’s flustered faces, and soon after both of them began to giggle, hastily turning into uncontrollable laughter.

Miorine turned to her side, in order to face Suletta – an action which Suletta quickly mimicked. “Do you still think you would?” Miorine asked with a smirk on her face, in relation to their previous conversation.

“You know I wouldn’t,” whispered Suletta quietly, which followed in the pair smiling at each other. However, after a couple of seconds of doing so, Suletta realized something. “Your suit! I’m so sorry—”

“It’s fine. Besides, it was already dirty.” interrupted Miorine. “And, you know, I can live with a dirty suit if that’s what I get in return,” to which Suletta raised her hands to hide her face in embarrassment.

The two spoke to one another in that position for quite some time. The two noticed that the sun was soon to set. Upon noticing that, Suletta exclaimed while pointing in the direction of the sun. “Look!” after saying which she sat towards the west. Following that, Miorine followed suit. “It’s so pretty,” Suletta added.

Sitting beside each other, Miorine was taking awe in the beautiful, orange sun on the horizon. The gentle wind breeze coming from the sun’s direction made the hair of the two stream like silk. Without Miorine noticing, Suletta’s sight instead turned to her, causing Suletta’s eyes to sparkle gently in awe. Without much hesitation, Suletta gently slid her left hand into Miorine’s right, making their hands touch benevolently. Only Suletta’s slight hand movements, stroking Miorine’s skin back and forth made Miorine realize that her other half hasn’t been staring at the sun the whole time like her, but at her. She then turned her head slightly to see her significant other’s simper greeting her – to which she could only react with the same, and a small giggle, of course.

After that short but intimate exchange, both of them looked at the sun setting, being able to see it now just barely over the horizon. Miorine’s head lowered and landed on Suletta’s left shoulder like as if it was a cushion. In response, Suletta cackled quietly, and removed her hand from Miorine’s in order to hug her wife with it and massage slightly her upper arm up and down.

And so they gazed upon the setting sun in its final moments in this position for some time, before the sun completely vanished under the horizon. “I’m sleepy,” Miorine said with audible exhaustion in her voice after a few moments.

“Do you want to go home?” asked Suletta.

“Mhm,” nodded Miorine.

“Okay,” replied Suletta, before Miorine took her hand off of Suletta’s shoulder and stood up in place, supporting herself on said shoulder. Suletta followed, and Miorine made sure to lend her partner a hand.

They quickly got rid of remaining dirt on their clothes and returned to the path they have strayed from in the first place, but, this time, returning from whence they came. Not long after, they interlocked their hands and fingers yet again. They walked the path silently, but not awkwardly, until they reached their house in the south. By the time they arrived, the sky turned almost completely dark. Arriving at the door, Suletta opened the door with her free hand and took her other hand from Miorine’s. The door being open, Miorine stepped inside, and Suletta followed behind her and closed the door. Not even a second has passed for Miorine to go to the living room and sit down, after all, she was tired. Suletta followed to the living room, seeing the scene of her wife suggesting with her hand to sit down right beside her, on her right side, and so she did.

Suletta then lied down, her legs surrounding Miorine, almost as if they could communicate telepathically about what position they should lie in. Following that, Miorine also lied down, resting her head on Suletta’s chest and placing her arms underneath Suletta. Suletta placed her hand on Miorine’s head and started stroking it gently. “I love you,” whispered Suletta.

“I love you, too,” murmured Miorine half asleep.

Before Suletta knew it, Miorine has already fallen asleep on her chest. She must’ve been exhausted.
