Chapter 1: Survivors Side

Chapter Text

It didn’t usually rain like this in the Spectre’s Realm.

It rained, yes, but in light drizzles, with the occasional heavier downpour. Never anything extreme, always something tempered, and light, and not quite enough.

But this? It was pouring.

The Survivors had scrambled indoors when the first raindrops began hitting fast and hard, tucking themselves away into the main cabin they all shared. Well, nearly all of the Survivors did.

Two Time had run out into the downpour, charging for their garden. They had scrambled to cover their delicate plants from the harsh rain, enthusiastically ignoring the shouts for them to come back inside. In the end, Chance had to drag them inside after being roped into helping them cover a few more plants.

Set the scene. Rabbit-Moth and Avian, pressed together for warmth, in a loud cabin full of voices and life. The little Avian had promptly been wrapped in a blanket and shoved in front of the fireplace, due to how violent their shivering was.

“Times, why’d you have to go and do that? The plants would’ve been alright, it’s just a lil’ rain.” Chance protested for the millionth time, curled up at Two Time’s side with his own blanket. He had gotten drenched dragging his friend back inside, and thus was put on Two Time duty.

A job fit only for the most daring, as Two Time was very slippery when they wanted to be. It was next to impossible to keep them pinned down, even if it was for their own good.

“As I have already told you, some of my plants cannot survive extreme downpours like this. They’re fragile. I couldn’t leave them to suffer like that.” Two Time huffed, curling deeper into their blanket as they shot a glare at Chance, who merely raised their hands defensively.

“Hey, I’m just sayin’! You could get sick!” They defended, and Two Time rolled their eyes, smile strained.

“And my plants could have died, and then we would have all starved. If I am to fall ill, it is merely another test from the Spawn, one I will pass as I have before.” They attempted to reason, but sighed as Chance merely frowned at them.

“Well, I still think you should take better care of yourself.” Chance retorted, crossing their arms defiantly.

“My well-being matters not, for the Spawn will protect me-”

“Times….” Chance cut off, and the two sighed. Their argument could continue endlessly, going in circles and circles until one of them stormed off, or they could let it rest for now. There was nothing more to be done regardless.

And so the two settled back down in front of the fire, and the scene changes, shifting to the kitchen, where three individuals worked side-by-side.

“7n7, could you pass me the- Thank you.” Elliot smiled as the container of salt was passed to him by the Demon Hybrid, who was working intently away.

“Elliot, could I borrow the sugar by chance?” Guest 1337 called, receiving a bag of sugar in return, before adding an amount to his bowl of dry ingredients.

The three were cooking and baking, preparing for dinner which was to come about shortly. 007n7 was making his lasagna, something that Jane Doe was silently salivating over in her corner of the cabin, while Elliot assisted. Guest 1337 was baking something he refused to elaborate on, simply smiling when asked by the other two.

“Seven, I wanted to thank you for earlier today.” Guest spoke as he sidled up to the other’s side, reaching past him for a few eggs to crack open into his mixture. 7n7 hummed, smiling up at Guest.

“What for?” He asked curiously, and Guest gave a sheepish laugh.

“For that save, earlier. You really saved my skin back there, with that parry.” The Soldier explained, a light blush of embarrassment lighting up on 7n7’s face.

“Oh, that- That was nothing, I promise! I couldn’t just let you die, after all, I’d be a terrible teammate if I did that.” 7n7 tried to brush it off, before a third voice spoke up.

“Oh, take the credit, Seven. You helped out, and did a good job.” Elliot said sternly, putting down his tools to step over and poke 7n7 in the forehead. The Demon Hybrid blushed harder, beginning to stammer once more.

Another shift. The scene changes once more, to the upstairs side of the cabin. Surrounding the pool table, Noob was hosting a small game of Jenga, surrounded by Veeronica, Shedletsky, and Taph, each taking a turn at poking out a block of wood.

“I really don’t see the appeal of this game, if I’m being honest.” The massive Avian, Shedletsky, wondered out loud, leaning backwards and resting his arms behind his head casually.

“It’s more fun when you, um, get-get, uh, get going, more. I used to, um, used to make challenges, if someone, um, knocked over the, uh, tower.” Noob explained hesitantly, smiling slightly at Shedletsky perking up at the mention of “challenges”.

“S0UNDS L1K3 4 BL4S7 N00B!” [Sounds like a blast Noob!] Veeronica enthused, her screen displaying a wide, happy smile as she carefully pulled another block from the tower. It was starting to look precarious, enough to peak even Shedletsky’s interest.

“[Maybe we could do some? Do you have any ideas, Noob?]” Taph signed at Noob, who hummed contemplatively.

“Maybe…. Whoever loses, has to, um…. Drink a cup of rain water!” They grinned brightly as the idea came to them, the small group oo-ing and aa-ing appropriately.

The air grew tense with competition as the four began to lock in on the game, excited to see who would be the unlucky loser.

It was Taph’s turn, and slowly, they pulled another block from the tower. It was looking incredibly unsteady, and the group held their breath as it wobbled ominously.

Shaking, shaking, before finding its balance.

And then the lightning struck, and the group screeched in surprise. In their shock, someone hit the table, and the Jenga tower fell to the ground in a tragic heap, causing the group to let out sounds of frustration.

“4W M4N…. S0 WH0 G37S 70 DR1NK 7H3 W473R?” [Aw man…. So who gets to drink the water?] Veeronica questioned, completely forgetting the fact that she could not drink anything, and the group froze, looking around at each other frantically.

Somebody had to take the fall, but no one had seen the arm that had knocked the tower over. Accusations flew through the air as the situation turned into an all-out verbal brawl.

The scene changes as this question buzzes in the air, turning to find Jane Doe, curled up in an arm chair by the fireplace. She was keeping an eye on Chance and Two Time, having tuned their little argument out as she wrote furiously in a collection of paper too loose leafed to be a proper notebook.

There was little to be said of Jane Doe, as she was writing more observations and tactics against the Killers of the Realm. Her current subject was the habits and tactics of the infamous 1x1x1x1, from how he used his Mass Infection, to how easily a Survivor could fake him out during a direct fight.

She was content there, a blanket draped over her lap and fire roaring in her ears, voices filling the air and presence strong. Even the thunder did not disturb her serenity.

And finally, in their own corner of the cabin, resting peacefully on the stairs, were the last of the Survivors. Dusekkar and Builderman sat together, quiet and at rest, merely watching the ongoing events.

Builderman in particular had an eye on a certain magenta-haired woman, his gaze turning longing and wistful as he watched her. A gentle tap on the cheek, and he turned his attention to his lover, to Dusekkar.

“What ails you so, my beloved?” The Mage asked softly, not wanting to be overheard by the others. Builderman sighed softly, turning his gaze away once more.

“It’s nothin’, Duse…. Just Jane. I just hope she’ll come around, eventually.” He explained in a low mutter, his eyes finding the woman once more. She shifted in her spot on the armchair, trying to get more comfortable.

“Let your heart be at peace, for one day her anger will crease. All in due time, will things become sublime.” Dusekkar soothed, wrapping an arm around the smaller, who curled into his side tightly.

“I sure hope so…. We’ll get out of here, and I’ll get John all fixed up, and things will get better. It’s gotta.” Builderman sounded far more confident than he felt, curled up in his lover’s embrace, one of his favorite places to rest.

“We must cling to that hope, for it is all that allows us to cope.” Dusekkar hummed, his own gaze turning distant as he thought back to everyone they had left behind in the process of being trapped in this Realm.

The other Admins, their lovers, would they still be alright without them? Would Robloxia still be intact when they returned?

They could only hope.

Until then, the rain would continue to pour.
