Robin and Lissa - Alternate Supports for Fire Emblem Awakening

Summary:

Summary

Ahh... Fire Emblem Awakening...
The supports in this game make me so happy to review sometimes, even so many years since my last playthrough! Some characters are so goofy, others so sweet... so many unforgettable interactions and some genuinely fun writing.

But... what if... they were a little longer? What if we took those good story beats, some creative liberties, the characters, and fleshed them out into, say, 10 (or so) interactions? It works great for Persona, so why not Awakening?

I find so many of the female cast of Awakening just delightful: Lissa is sunny and happy, Lucina struggles with a dark past, Tiki with the prospect a long and lonely life... They make for delightful love stories.

So, without further ado, please enjoy my own fan-written support between:

Robin and Lissa

Notes about This Story

Gosh I LOVE Lissa. She is such a sweet girl. A few things I wish they did in the game that I did here:
- She gets a post-timeskip look.
- She gets a bit of a post-timeskip glow up.
When I write these, I usually have a story write itself... a beginning, a middle, and an end, but with Lissa? She's so present in Robin's life from the beginning that I imagine there were SO many possible stories I could have told... instead of a thread or a rope, it was like a buffet of wonderful potential interactions to pick from... so many chances to fall in love.

I gave a lot of thought to how I wrote Robin here. Normally, he's somewhat daft with knowing he's in love, but here, I think he's extra shy because of who Lissa is: she's been sweet and kind to him from the very start, she's very important to Chrom, and so he sort of sees her as a sister in the first act, so falling in love with her is a major shift in perspective... Furthermore, he sees a lot of Emmeryn in her, when she's not being crazy, and the Robin I write had a major crush on her... but never considered himself "worthy" of her.

Anyways, I loved writing this, and there are SO many cute scenes with these two I could have written... as Robin learns to loosen up and have some fun, her comforting him after the whole Validar incident, her nursing him after an injury, him supporting her with her princess duties, the two being lovable dorks messing around, and so many memories with Chrom, as well.

S support or not, I think Lissa is somebody that Robin considers close as family in every timeline... and can you blame him? I know my life would be happier with a Lissa in it!

General Notes and Apologies
- I have not read *every* support convo for every single character in the game with every other. I have played a LOT of this game, I did do some homework and reading before writing this, but if you find any lore inconsistencies in a character's story, sorry!
- Not 100% perfect English! I'm a native speaker, but I don't have anybody to help review these. Apologies if the occasional spelling, punctuation, or grammar error breaks the immersion for you!
- I do take some liberties (duh, it's fan fiction, haha!) with some of these; drawing on other games, lore from other games, and other Awakening Fan Fiction I've written. If you think "Chrom would never say that!" Or "Robin would never!" That's fine, amigo/a! I'm just sharing this with any who might enjoy them.
- Robin has some minor changes to his abilities to make it more lore-consistent:
- He can use magic without tomes
- He has very potent dark magic skills that he doesn't like to use often, but still has. (Taught by his mother.)
- Since Grima was created with divine dragon blood, Robin has divine dragon magic, albeit corrupt magic. That means that he can use his fell blood-empowered magic for feats of sorcery and magic that others might not be able to do. (Similar to Gotoh, or the Rainbow Sage.)

Chapter 1: Robin-Lissa 1

Chapter Text

(The Road to Ylisstol)
Robin: So. You're... uh... Chrom's sister?
Lissa: Uh-huh! And you don't remember anything? Like, do you have a little sister?
Robin: Mmm... Nope. No idea. Kinda hurts my head to think about it...
Lissa: Oh! I'm sorry! Uh... Then... Let's talk about something else!
Robin: Ok... Is that dress comfortable?
Lissa: What, this old thing? It's my favorite! Why do you ask?
Robin: I don't think I could handle having a cage hang from my hips.
Lissa: Oh, you get used to it! Ylissean fashion is weird, what *can* I say... But your coat is kinda weird too, now that I get a look at it... Got those... freaky eyes on the sleeves.
Robin: Oh, this old thing? I've worn it for as long as I can remember.
Lissa: Har har. *Very* funny.
Robin: Heheh...
Chrom: Heh. He's a natural. He'll fit right in with us.
Lissa: With *you*, you big weirdo. He's got that... *Chrom*-ish humor to him.
Chrom: ...Chrom-ish?
Lissa: Yeah! How you're so... I dunno... Serious, but silly at the same time!
Chrom: Hmm...
Lissa: Oh, lighten up, you! I'm just playing.
Chrom: No no, you've sent me on a spiritual journey to understand my humor... perhaps it aaalll started when I was... a lad...
Lissa: Chrom, whatever you're going to say...
Chrom: Yes... it... It must have been my father...
Robin: Your father? What about your father?
Lissa: Oh great, here he goes...
Chrom: You see... he was a stern man... loved to turn to the bottle in times of stress. Wasn't much of a talker... more of a man of action, you see...
Robin: Go on...
Chrom: Well I'm not just gonna stand here... we'll never get to Ylisstol if I don't... *go on*...
Lissa: *Groan!!*

Chrom: Heheh... So... Once I approached my father... And I said... "Father... I just don't get humor. The court jester doesn't make me smile... I saw the village idiot fall into the pig stye, and I didn't even smile."
Robin: I see...
Chrom: My father throws the bottle he was drinking onto the floor, and he says, "What kinda Price are you, eh?!"
Robin: !
Chrom: "Well... If you don't understand *humor*, you'll never be much of a prince at all! I suppose it falls to me to set you straight... If don't understand humor, I'll have to..."
Lissa: ...Don't you dare...
Chrom: "...PUN-ish you."
Lissa: CHROM!
Robin: Heheheh! Nice.
Lissa: You big dork! Did you know that one time...
___
Lissa: And then he broke right through the castle wall! With just his sword!! Left a giant hole!
Robin: Goodness, I wish I was that strong... *Smashing* performance, Chrom.
Lissa: Ugh... Must you?
Chrom: Thank you, Robin. Powerful swings... it used to be... *gap* in my training... But no longer.
Robin: But you've *broken past* your limits, haven't you?
Chrom: Indeed I have.
Lissa: Having fun, you two?
Chrom: ...Maybe.
Robin: Heheh...
Lissa: So Chrom, are you gonna offer Robin a job with the Shepherds?
Chrom: I'd certainly like to. He'd fill the *hole* in our roster.
Lissa: And the *hole* in your brain!
Chrom: ...Rude. Just because we don't go around putting frogs in people's britches doesn't mean we don't appreciate humor, does it, Robin?
Robin: Absolut... did you say frogs?
Lissa: Heheheh... Who would... ever do that? Heheh...
Robin: Hmm...
Chrom: Anyways, I'd be happy to offer him a job.
Lissa: Oooh! That would be so cool! You're like... a sword mage, or something! We've got mages, and we've got swordsmen, but now we've got a sword mage!
Robin: Yes... at the expense of me not being as good with a sword OR a tome as they are, probably...
Lissa: Oh, cheer up! When we get there, I'll show you around. You'll fit right in, trust me. They're all as weird and charming as you.
Robin: I look forward to it! ...Wait, what did you call me?
