Chapter Text
It was a sunny morning with you walking to your new college still being a bum. 'I'm hoping to God that I don't get bullied here either.' Let's hope you make a good first impression on your first day. Being bullied at your high school was no joke. It left a deep scar on your mental health. You loathed that place it was hell on earth back then with those kinds of shitty teachers.
You woke up at least two hours early wondering what to wear, deciding on a black jumper and some baggy pants. You've never been much of an outgoing kind of person always keeping to yourself and your one friend throughout the entirety of your highschool years, just for them to get sent back to Africa due to their poor grades and strict parents. You put your hand up, placing it on your chest as a sign of respect eyelids teary and threatening to spill for the fallen solider going through who knows what now.
With them out of your social life, you were now friendless. A worrisome mother you've always had peeking into every crevice of your life to watch and controll your life, trying her hardest to insert herself into your daily life and wanting to set up dinner dates for me to make more friends 'annoying, really,' you pondered.
Being an anti-social person can be hard, especially trying to get to know someone you're interested in or have something in common. But she never really believed in those things, pushing all reasonable diagnoses away and calling it a 'phase'.
You head out of the house for the last time before making your way to the busses, ready to depart as you keep yourself occupied with your phone.
Realising that you've already made it to the college gates, you check what you have for class in your morning lessons."Thank God for these dorms" it was really a one-way ticket out of that overbearing household. An amazing mum she 'was' as in past tense, all those motherly traits started to disappear in your pubescent years, replaced with anger and envy.
"I always hated that place" You didn't realize it, but all those thoughts that were blooming in your head and blocking your line of sight made you crash into someone's back with full force leaving you in a daze, dropping one of your books onto the floor.
Great, what an awesome start you groaned. "Shi- sorry about that," you frantically apologized to the somewhat cheerful man standing in front of you. "No worries, It was an accident" he chuckled acknowledging your frightened face "haha, this college sure knows how to make people lose their sense of direction" he laughed awkwardly, trying to start a conversation before crouching down to pick up your book.
"Yeh ig.." You smiled, wanting to end the interaction to get to your next class, you never really got any where with small talk, not quite a memorable person. He flipped the book reading the title 'the study of Science "Science ? Oh, I've got it right now, actually" He smiled, handing you back the book."I was going to go with William, I mean my friend William since you don't know him but he has another class and... sorry, did I say too much?" He sighed, giving an awkward glance to the side as you stared at him.
"Oh, no, I mean, it's fine! It's just that I don't really get a chance to speak to new people... might be a bit rusty, " you laughed."I guess I'm what you would call a recluse... Not that I don't have friends!" You frantically tried to change what you meant, trying not to sound like a top tier bum 💯
He laughed at your mismatched explanation, trying to divert what you meant. "No, it's quite fine," he laughed, still trying to catch his breath. "Want to walk to class.. I mean, since we're going the same way!" He shouted, mimicking your previous tone chuckling along with him."Sure, I don't mind. "
Jackpot, a new friend! And one that doesn't blatantly patronize how you look and feel. You continue to talk to him about your hobbies and lifestyle choices before shortly introducing yourself "by the way my names Mark grayson" he reaches out his sruched up hand in a fist before you do the same, fist bumping eachother. " My name is Y/n, Y/n L/n."
You start to lower your voice before entering the class and sitting in one of the front corners of the room, what you don't realize is that Mark was also behind you following were you go like a baby chicken as he sat down beside you catching you off guard.
"Oh! Right.. I forgot you also took this class. " he chuckled a bit before taking his notebook out."You don't seem happy about that. " You harshly shake your hands left and right, trying to come up with another explanation "no it's alright, I get it. Wanting to just be by yourself is nice! I'll move if you feel uncomfortable. " You don't know if you were hit with Cupid's arrow, but you felt a soft warmth resonating in your heart.
"No, I don't mind," you smiled, tugging the hood of your jummper down, feeling the heat swarm your face and the back of your neck. "Fuck.." You muttered, for the first day of college, things aren't going as you expected.
