Trophy wandered around the hotel, camera in hand. He was looking for other objects to take pictures of, considering most of the photos on his camera were already of Knife.
He walked toward the kitchen, peeking behind the door to see if there was anyone he could use as a subject for his photos.
Inside was OJ with Paper, the two cooking breakfast—as usual—for the contestants who lived in the hotel.
Trophy quickly raised his camera, taking a picture before hiding back behind the door.
Over the past few months, Trophy had been distancing himself from most of the people in the hotel. Well... besides Knife, at least.
He just didn't really feel like talking to everyone else anymore, which was also why he was being so secretive about taking pictures of them.
Trophy looked down at the picture he'd just taken.
It wasn't perfect, but he liked it.
OJ had a genuine smile on his face while Paper was focused on whatever they were cooking.
Trophy scrolled through the other pictures he'd taken earlier.
Clover smiling softly as butterflies fluttered around her.
Pickle and Bomb celebrating after beating a boss on their video game.
Even a few random pictures of the hotel.
He'd been trying to get more pictures of everyone lately, but it was harder than he expected.
Trophy continued staring at the camera until a familiar voice interrupted him.
"You taking pictures again?"
Trophy immediately looked up.
"It's called photography, dumbass."
Knife glanced at the camera in Trophy's hands.
"Damn. What happened to all that 'still-life photography' crap you were always going on about?"
"Fuck off. I'm trying to take pictures of other people for once."
Knife smirked.
"And?"
"And what?"
"You've been standing here for like five minutes."
Trophy's eye twitched.
"Just mind your own business and go bother someone else."
"And miss a chance to annoy you?"
Knife shrugged.
"No thanks, goldie."
"I told you not to fucking call me that."
Knife only laughed.
Trophy sighed, gripping his camera a little tighter.
He hesitated before looking back at Knife.
"...Can I take pictures of you, then?"
Knife paused.
"Huh?"
"You heard me."
Knife stared at him for a second before a smirk slowly formed.
"Well, why didn't you just ask?"
"Because you're annoying."
"Yeah, yeah. Where do you want me?"
Trophy rolled his eyes.
"Just follow me."
"Alright, photographer."
"Shut up."
(◍•ᴗ•◍)
The two eventually ended up outside, on the side of the hotel.
Trophy looked around for a good spot before pointing toward one of the brick walls.
"Okay... go over there."
Knife walked over.
"Now what?"
"Pose."
Knife raised an eyebrow.
"That's it?"
"Yes."
"Alright."
Knife leaned his back against the brick wall, putting one leg against it while keeping the other on the ground. He crossed his arms and tilted his head slightly.
Trophy raised his camera.
"...Okay."
*Click.*
Trophy looked at the picture.
He paused.
"...Huh."
Knife looked over.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"That sounded like something."
"Just stay there."
Knife smirked.
"Bossy."
"Shut up."
*Click.*
Trophy took another picture.
Then another.
Knife changed his pose each time, sometimes leaning against the wall, sometimes sitting down, sometimes looking away from the camera.
At one point, Knife deliberately made a stupid face.
Trophy lowered his camera.
"Don't."
"What?"
"Whatever the hell that was."
Knife grinned.
"You said you wanted different pictures."
"I want good pictures."
"Oh. My bad."
Knife went back to posing normally.
Trophy raised his camera again.
*Click.*
"Better?"
"...Yeah."
Knife chuckled.
"You're welcome."
Trophy rolled his eyes.
They moved around the hotel after that, Trophy taking pictures of Knife in different places.
The stairs.
The hallway.
The garden.
Even the front entrance.
Some of the pictures were serious.
Some were stupid because Knife refused to stop messing around.
And somehow, Trophy kept finding more pictures he liked.
Knife was just... easy to photograph.
He didn't know why.
Maybe it was because Knife actually listened whenever Trophy told him where to stand.
Or maybe it was because Knife always seemed to do something that caught Trophy's attention.
Either way, they ended up spending most of the morning taking pictures.
By the time Trophy finally stopped, it was already noon.
They'd completely missed breakfast.
Neither of them seemed to care.
Trophy sat down outside, scrolling through the pictures on his camera.
Knife sat beside him, looking over.
"So?"
"So what?"
"How'd I do?"
Trophy glanced at him.
"Not terrible."
Knife scoffed.
"Not terrible?"
"Don't get an ego."
Knife smirked.
"Not trying to steal yours."
Trophy's eye twitched.
"As if you could."
"There it is."
"Shut the fuck up."
Knife laughed as Trophy went back to scrolling through the pictures.
He stopped at one of them.
Knife was sitting against the wall, looking away from the camera.
It wasn't anything particularly interesting.
But Trophy liked it.
Knife noticed him staring at it.
"That one?"
Trophy nodded.
"Yeah."
Knife leaned closer to look.
"Huh."
He paused.
"Actually looks pretty good."
Trophy smirked slightly.
"See? I know what I'm doing."
"Don't let that go to your head."
"You're the one who asked me to take them."
"Yeah, because I wanted to see if you were actually any good."
"And?"
Knife shrugged.
"You're alright."
Trophy scoffed.
"Wow. Thanks."
"Don't get emotional on me."
"Fuck off."
Knife laughed.
The two stayed there for a while, going through the pictures and arguing over which ones were good and which ones weren't.
Neither of them really noticed how long they'd been sitting there.
ꉂꉂ(ᵔᗜᵔ◍)
The next few weeks went by.
And somehow, Knife kept volunteering to be photographed.
Sometimes he'd walk past Trophy while he had his camera out.
"What's the point of carrying that thing around if you aren't gonna use it?"
Trophy would look up.
"I don't need to take a picture every five seconds."
"Sounds like an excuse."
"Go away."
"Take one first."
Trophy would sigh before raising his camera.
*Click.*
Other times, Knife would just sit somewhere and wait until Trophy noticed him.
Trophy eventually caught onto it.
"You know you can just ask, right?"
Knife looked at him.
"Ask what?"
"If you want me to take a picture of you."
Knife smirked.
"Thought you liked figuring it out yourself."
"You're fucking annoying."
"Yet you still took the picture."
Trophy looked down at the camera.
"...Shut up."
Knife laughed.
It became a normal thing between them.
Trophy would take pictures.
Knife would make fun of him for it.
Trophy would tell him to shut up.
And then he'd take another picture anyway.
After a while, Trophy started realizing just how many pictures of Knife he had again.
Pictures of Knife playing games with Pickle.
Knife talking to someone in the hallway.
Knife sitting on the couch.
Knife laughing.
Knife doing absolutely nothing.
Trophy stared at the screen.
"...Why the hell do I have so many pictures of him?"
He scrolled to the next one.
Knife.
Another.
Still Knife.
Trophy sighed.
"Seriously..."
He could've deleted them.
He didn't.
Instead, he just kept scrolling.
"Whatever."
He stared at another picture for a few seconds before quietly mumbling,
"...He's just easy to photograph."
And that was all there was to it.
At least, that's what Trophy told himself.
