Chapter Text
A single person can cause catastrophe.
A single person can cause peace.
A single person… can change the world.
A young traveler slowly walked through a forest. The breeze was crisp, and fresh. The bright, winter sun shone mystically through frost, and ice. A light snow broke through the gaps of the tree tops, dusting the path. He took a deep, cold breath. He pulled a map out of a satchel sitting on his waist and huffed.
“...This way,” he said, pushing snow-covered branches out of his way as he stepped into the forest. He walked for a few minutes and found a large clearing. He peeked out of the branches, staring forward at his discovery. In the clearing, there sat an abandoned village, frozen in time-and in ice. His bright eyes widened at the sparkling structures. He walked out into the village, looking around in wonder. The place was empty, deserted a long time ago. He walked for some time, exploring the frozen village. Then, he came across a statue. An ice statue of a man. He looked to be some sort of warlord, or maybe a barbarian. The traveler tilted his head, squinting at the statue. He stepped closer, reaching out for the statue. His hand lightly tapped the statue’s face. The statue cracked, and the traveler flinched back. He stepped back, as the crack grew. The traveler filched, as the statue exploded. Or… not? The traveler looked up at where the statue was standing, which now held the place of a man-that looked exactly like the statue… maybe… it wasn't a statue at all!
The man was, in a word, intimidating. He wore a long cape, with fur at the top, near his shoulders. Leather bracers, and necklaces with different kinds of painted teeth on them.
“Who the hell are you?” The man said, glaring at the traveler.
“My name is Izuku Midoriya.” The traveler spoke, putting his hand on his sword, which rested on his back. The man glared. “And… you are?”
The man stared at the sword. “Katsuki Bakugo.”His crimson eyes snapped up to Izuku’s face, then flicked past him to the surrounding village. His expression shifted sharply as the reality of the frozen ruins finally registered. He looked around at the ice-locked buildings, then locked his gaze back onto Izuku. “What the hell happened here.”
“I’m… not sure. It was frozen when I got here.” Izuku stated, his nerves rising. Katsuki walked towards Izuku, still glaring. Izuku stepped back. Katsuki grabbed Izuku’s shoulder.
“What year is it?” He asked.
“Uhm…” Izuku was surprised by the question, and suddenly forgot. He looked down. “...I don’t remember?” Izuku smiled awkwardly. Katsuki made a face that said: ‘You’ve gotta be kidding me’. Izuku looked down again, more apologetically.
“What happened here?” Katsuki said more seriously.
“I don’t know, I swear!” Izuku was still looking down. Katsuki Tched, and let go of Izuku. He walked away, and Izuku followed. Katsuki looked around almost desperately, as if he was looking for something. Katsuki grew more desperate with each building he searched.
“... Where is it…?” Katsuki breathed sharply. That’s when Izuku noticed how much Katsuki was shivering. Of course he would be cold-he was frozen, after all. Izuku’s empathetic heart reached out, and Izuku took a step.
“May I ask what you're looking for?” Izuku asked. Maybe if they find it, Izuku can help Katsuki warm up after. Because Izuku knew how important it was by how he was looking.
Katsuki looked at him, and glared. He pondered whether or not he should tell him, but then caved. “It’s a necklace. A dangerous one.” Katsuki said.
“I looked around earlier, and I didn’t see anything like that…” Izuku said. Katsuki took a deep breath. Izuku once again noticed how much Katsuki was shivering. Izuku was about to offer to make a fire, but Katsuki looked bad. Izuku watched in horror as Katsuki began to shiver violently, his face draining of all color until his lips turned a faint, ghostly blue. His breathing slowed to shallow puffs in the freezing air, Katuski’s crimson, and now glassy eyes rolling back just before he dropped silently into the snow. Izuku almost immediately dropped to his knees, his hands flying to Katsuki’s chest. The man was terrifyingly still, his skin as cold as the glacier he had just broken out of. Shelter. Fire. Now. Izuku took off the cloak he wore previously, and put it on Katsuki. Then gently, he lifted Katsuki up and draped his arm over his shoulder. Izuku stomped forwards, huffing and puffing as the winter air burned into his skin. There was a nearby city. They had to get there. The buildings in the frozen village were, well… frozen. Izuku stomped slower. The light of the city was fading, being covered and distorted by swirling snow. Great. A storm. Izuku winced and kept going. Izuku was losing feeling in his arms and legs. He stumbled. He stomped slower, and slower, and slower. Izuku crashed to his knees, his legs failing him. Izuku breathed slowly and steadily. He dragged his legs forward, forcing himself to move. He staggered through the city gate, and into a nearby inn.
“Oh my!” A woman called from behind a counter. She shuffled over to Izuku, who was back on his knees. “Dear! DEAR!!” A man came stumbling into the room, and immediately helped to lift Katsuki. The woman led Izuku to a room with two beds, helping him walk.
“Thank you…” Izuku mumbled. That was all he could muster due to exhaustion.
“No problem, child.” The woman smiled.
The man set Katsuki down on a bed, and left. “Thanks, dear!!” The woman called, followed by a tired:
“Uh- huh”.
“Here. Take this.” The woman gave Izuku another cloak. “For when your friend wakes up.” She smiled. Before Izuku could thank her, she continued.“Sleep now, it’ll all be alright.” The woman smiled. Izuku smiled back, and the woman left. Izuku laid down on the extra bed, and fell asleep instantly.
Katsuki’s eyes snapped open. He shot upright, looking around. He noticed Izuku, and for some reason, he felt calmer. He walked over, and noticed that Izuku was shivering. He looked down at Izuku, and noticed he was wearing Izuku’s cloak. He took it off, and looked at it. He held it in his scarred and hardened hands, realizing what happened. The howling of the wind outside made Katsuki glance back at Izuku. He stared for a bit, then put the cloak over Izuku. Katsuki walked back to his bed, and stared at Izuku until he fell asleep.
Izuku’s eyes strained open.. He sat up slowly, and rubbed his eyes. He instinctively looked to the side to see if Katsuki was ok. Izuku was startled to see Katsuki standing directly next to him.
“WAAHH!!” Izuku cried, flopping in the opposite direction. He grabbed his chest. “You almost gave me a heart attack!!” (Just pretend heart attacks exist in this time)
Katsuki stood still, and kept staring. “Congratulations.” He said.
“... What?” Izuku replied.
“You are now my prisoner.” Katsuki stated, glaring in a random direction. Izuku followed Katsuki’s gaze, confused. Katsuki looked back at Izuku. “You and I are gonna find my necklace. You’re not allowed to leave until we do.” Katsuki explained. Izuku blinked. “Let’s go.” Katsuki started walking away.
“W-WAIT!” Izuku called, getting out of bed. Izuku stopped, and turned to see his cloak on the bed. “Did he…” Izuku said under his breath. He smiled in Katsuki’s direction, and grabbed the cloak. He slid his boots on, which were (THANK GOODNESSS!!!) completely dry. He caught up with Katsuki, who was going out the door to the outside. “Ah! THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!” Izuku yelled to the woman. She smiled and waved. “AT LEAST WEAR THIS!!” Izuku held out the extra cloak. (He put it on) When the door closed, Katsuki stopped in his tracks. “Is something wrong?” Izuku asked.
“W… What year is it?” Katsuki said. Izuku looked at the completely basic city scape, then back at Katsuki.
He looked down. “Oh… I think it’s… 1480?” Izuku said, thinking. “Yeah, that sounds right. Izuku looked at Katsuki. “Uh… yes?” Izuku said. Katsuki looked at Izuku like he had just thrown a “pumpkin spice latte" at an elf and screeched, IT’S STILL NOT CHIRSTMASSSS!!!! (IT’S NOT CHRISTMAS YET, GUYS!!)
“I’ve been frozen…” Katsuki started. Izuku felt nervousness rise up in him. “FOR FOUR HUNDRED YEARS?!” Quite a few heads turned to Izuku and Katsuki. Izuku grabbed Katsuki’s arm.
“Be quiet!” Izuku whisper-shouted.
“...But we’re outside.” Katsuki said, utterly confused. Izuku sighed.
“People will think you’re insane!” Izuku said.
“...” Katsuki looked around, then back at Izuku. “I’m a berserker?" Katsuki said, still confused. His voice was flat, as if he had just answered all of Izuku’s questions. Izuku sighed again.
“Midoriya?” Izuku turned to see a familiar face.
“Todoroki!” Izuku smiled, a little relieved to be free of the previous conversation. He walked over to Shoto.
“I didn’t know you were still here. I thought you left yesterday. To see those ruins, right?” Shoto said, smiling a little.
“There was more than ruins…” Izuku mumbled.
“What?” Shoto tilted his head.
“Nothing.” Izuku replied. Meanwhile, behind Izuku Katsuki was practically on fire with rage. He put his hand on Izuku’s shoulder, and glared at Shoto. Shoto looked at Katsuki, his face twisting into a glare as well. Izuku stood between them, his eyes shifting back and forth.
“Midoriya… who is this?” Shoto asked, his eyes locked with Katsuki’s.
Izuku was about to answer, but he was cut off by Katsuki. “Katsuki Bakugo.” Katsuki glared harder. “Who the hell are you?” Izuku slowly closed his mouth.
“Shoto Todoroki.” Shoto said coldly. (Because apparently it wasn’t already cold enough) The tension was so thick, you probably couldn’t cut it with a knife. You’d need a chainsaw.
“Uhm, guys…” And apparently, Izuku had one. The two boys looked at Izuku, their faces changing instantly. Shoto smiled, and Katsuki looked much calmer. “Calm down…?” Izuku realized he didn’t need to say that mid sentence. “Well, you know each other's names, so I also don’t need to introduce anyone…” Izuku stood awkwardly as he realized he had nothing to say.
“How are you too Midoriya?” Shoto said, as the boys snapped back into the intense and completely unnecessary glaring sequence.
Katsuki pulled Izuku close to him, his arms wrapped around his shoulders. “He’s my prisoner.” Katsuki said, grinning at Shoto.
“Prisoner?!” Shoto looked at Izuku, who was too stunned to speak.
“Now if you’ll excuse us, we have stuff to do. Bye, bye!” Katsuki smiled, and walked away. Lifting Izuku up. Shoto started to follow, determined to save Izuku. Katsuki started running. “SEE YA, STUPID HALF N’ HALF WEIRDO!!” Katsuki yelled as he left Shoto in his dust.
“MIDORIYA!!! DON’T WORRY!! I’LL SAVE YOU~~!!!!!!!!!” Shoto called. Izuku covered his face in embarrassment. “He’s crying!” Shoto said, not loud enough for Izuku to hear.
“What have I gotten myself into?” Izuku asked himself. Katsuki grinned.
“Into an epic adventure!!" Katsuki laughed, still evil grinning.
