"Excuse me," he said.
He was on his feet before Jeongyo could permit him.
He stumbled outside, staggered, and the bathroom door banged against the wall as he reached the bowl and the sickness rose through him. Pi O knelt on the cold tile, one hand braced on the porcelain, and gave in to it, heaving. When there was nothing left, he stayed there, forehead against his arm, listening to his own breath rasp in and out.
'It's not real', he told himself. 'There's nobody here. There's no one in the doorway. You are just tired.'
He had no idea why he'd thought of a doorway. The fear he let in while playing made no sense. He was supposed to imagine being chased, getting shot at, drowning, or his mom threatening to end her life. But these days, there had been nothing but a black canvas in his mind, a black shadow looming in the corner of his eyes, making him want to cover, with an irrational fear of people getting hurt if he failed to practice. Failed to win.
