Summary
The agreement they’d eventually come to was that David would use his mind-reading abilities to find someone suicidal for her. A guilt-free victim for her first time, or as guilt-free as murdering someone could be, anyway. If they already wanted to die, it was basically like having their permission, right? It wasn’t nearly as bad as killing someone who desperately wanted to live.
“He’s the one,” David told her, both of them watching the boy. “New in town, lonely, and he’s looking to disappear, to lose himself. Give him what he wants, Star. Put him out of his misery.”
Star doesn't want to kill anyone, but Michael doesn't really want to live. Unfortunately, that doesn't make what David wants her to do any easier.
