Work Text:

"Shit." Trevor winced, less at the pain and more at how that little whisper had immediately gotten the attention of the one in their party who had supernatural hearing.

"Trevor?" Alucard asked, honed in and turned in his direction. "What is it?"

"Nothing," Trevor said, trying to smile, "I'm fine."

Narrowing his eyes, Alucard disappeared and re-appeared right next to Trevor in a flash of red light.

"Fuck-!"

"Try again."

"I-"

"And do not lie. You have blood on your teeth."

Ah. That would give it away then, wouldn't it? Still. Trevor bared his teeth in a taunting smile, maybe to make a point, maybe to piss Alucard off more. "It's not a problem. Feel like I could take on a hundred more of these fish-monsters."

A disbelieving hum left Alucard. Trevor was about ready to turn away and locate Sypha when the world spun around him. He flailed, arms smacking into a solid chest rather than thin air. Embarrassingly, he found himself holding onto Alucard's stupid coat while his vision and sense of balance readjusted. The golden gaze he found himself looking into was pinched--worried maybe--but two blinks later it was smoothed into a teasing tilt.

"Well, this is unexpected. The great Belmont brought low by a simple carry?"

"Shut it," Trevor grumbled.

His stomach was still turning over, worryingly, and his head throbbed. Maybe he'd gotten hit harder than he'd thought. Because of that, when Alucard started walking, Trevor still cradled in his arms, he didn't protest, just tightened his grip and focused on the golden embroidery beneath his fingers. Of course Alucard had to be the one to break it again.

"It isn't often I get to do this." Since he was basically speaking to himself, Trevor didn't respond. "It's awfully romantic, don't you think?"

Trevor felt his nose wrinkle as he looked up, noting the grin on Alucard's face, letting the barest hint of fang peak through.

"A vampire carrying off a Belmont like a maiden?"

Trevor opened his mouth to protest, but a higher-pitched giggle beat him to it. "What a thought," Sypha said, popping up before them, thankfully unharmed. "You are so strange, Alucard."

Sputtering, Alucard stopped in his tracks. "Me?" he protested.

Trevor coughed out a long laugh. Romantic or not, annoying or not, he was glad he had these two to travel with.
