Sirius has been in love with his best friend Remus since the day they first met. Ok well maybe not in love with him exactly. Back when they first met he didn't know and understand what love was, but he definitely had feelings for him. Ever since that first day he was just drawn to him. Sirius never fully understood until a year ago when he realized that he was in love with Remus. He has been hopeless pinning for Remus for a year. Sirius is afraid to admit his feelings, because he doesn't want to lose Remus as a friend. He is also afraid that if he doesn't admit his feelings for Remus that he might miss his chance, and lose Remus to someone else. Sirius decides to ask his other best friend James for advice. James knows Remus as well as he does and Sirius is hoping that he can help think of the perfect way for Sirius to confess his feelings for Remus.
Later that day after Remus goes to meet with his study group Sirius corners James in the common room. “Prongs I need your help.” He says.
“What is it Padfoot?” James asks.
“I need help figuring out how to tell Remus that I am in love with him.” Sirius says.
“Why don't you just tell him?” James asks.
“I want to make it special. Remus deserves to have it be special when I tell him.” Sirius says.
James smiles. “Ok, I will help you come up with the perfect way to tell Moony you love him. I will even help you figure out what to say.” He says.
“I have what I want to say covered. I just want to make it special.” Sirius says.
“Ok, I will help you plan the perfect romantic gesture to tell Remus how you feel.” James says.
“Nothing too extravagant. You know Moony hates being the center of attention.” Sirius says.
“I know what to do. Come on, I won Lily's heart, didn't I?” James says.
“Yeah, but did you win her heart, or did you just wear her down to the point she finally just said yes.” Sirius says.
“Does it matter which one it is? The point is I know how to do romantic things.” James says.
“Ok, I guess you are right, but I have the right to veto any suggestions you make.” Sirius says.
“Deal. Now let's go start brainstorming ideas for you to woo Moony.” James says, pulling Sirius along to head up to their dorm.
Later on Sirius and James are sitting in the dorm room brainstorming ideas. Both of them are making a list of ideas that they will then discuss with the other one.
“What if you use that firework spell we used before to spell out Remus I love you during breakfast?” James asks.
“That isn't a bad idea, but you know Remus will hate it. He doesn't like everyone watching him.” Sirius replies.
“Ok, how about you sing to him during breakfast? You can sing all about your feelings for him.” James says.
“I don't know. I don't want to do a big spectacle in public. You know Remus hates being the center of attention.” Sirius says.
“Come on Padfoot. I even thought up some lyrics. Oh Moony you're so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind. Hey Moony! Hey Moony! He will be like this is so romantic Sirius.” James says.
“If I sing that to Remus in front of everyone he will hate it and he will say Sirius you’re so weird. So next idea.” Sirius says.
“You asked me for help, but you are turning down all my ideas. I am back to you just need to tell him.” James says.
“How do I do it though? I don't want to just confess my feelings to him. I want to make it special when I confess. I just need something simple.” Sirius says.
“Ok, fine if you don't like any of my ideas let me see your list. Let me see what ideas you came up with.” James says, holding out his hand for Sirius' paper.
“I only came up with one idea.” Sirius admits.
“Well tell me what it is.” James says.
Sirius takes a deep breath. “Ok I was thinking about taking Remus up to the astronomy tower, and having a little picnic for us. I figured we could eat by starlight. Then I would confess to him how I feel. That way it is somewhere private and the view is beautiful.” He says.
“That sounds like a good idea. Not as extravagant as what I would do, but I think it suits Moony.” James says.
Sirius smiles. “I don't think anyone could ever be as extravagant as you Prongs. Now I just have to finish preparing the plan and figure out how to get Moony to agree to meet me up in the astronomy tower after curfew.” He says.
“Good. Now that we are done with that I am going back to the common room to see if Lily is back from her study group yet.” James says as he walks out the door.
Now that Sirius has come up with his idea of how to tell Remus how he feels he has to finish making the plans. He decides to take up some blankets they can use. One to sit on and one they can wrap around them if they get cold. Sirius also plans on having some of Remus' favorite foods. He decides to get some butterbeer for them to drink, chocolate cake, and some strawberries. Sirius really hopes that Remus likes everything. Sirius also has something else up his sleeve. Now that he has everything else planned all that is left is for him to invite Remus. He decides to write a note to Remus to invite him.
Moony
I have something I want to show you. Can you meet me in the astronomy tower tonight after your prefect rounds?
Padfoot
After he finishes writing the note he tucks it into the pocket of his robe. He plans on slipping the note to Remus' during dinner. Sirius decided to head down to the common room to see who all is down there. When he gets downstairs he sees that Remus is back from his study group and is sitting on the couch reading. He was going to wait until dinner to give Remus the note, but Sirius decides to do it now since Remus is in the common room and not busy.
Sirius flops on the couch beside Remus and climbs into his lap blocking his view of his book.
“I am so glad you are back, Moony. I have missed you.” Sirius says.
Remus chuckles and puts his book down before ruffling Sirius' hair. “I missed you too Padfoot. You act like a dog so much sometimes.” Remus says
“I can't help it if I am happy to see you all the time. I have something for you.” Sirius says. He reaches into his robe pocket and pulls out the note and hands it to Remus.
“What is this?” Remus asks.
“Read it.” Sirius replies.
Remus opens the note and reads it. “What do you want to show me?” He asks.
“It is a surprise. So will you meet me?” Sirius says, giving Remus puppy dog eyes.
Remus smiles and says, “Of course I will meet you. You don't need to give me puppy dog eyes to get me to say yes.”
“I know, but they work so well don't they?” Sirius replies.
Remus chuckles lightly as he grabs his book again. “Yes they do Padfoot. Now can I go back to reading my book?” He says.
“I guess. Will you play with my hair if I let you read?” Sirius says.
“Yes, I will play with your hair. As long as you let me read my book.” Remus says.
Sirius smiles and moves off of Remus' lap and lays across the couch with his head in Remus' lap. Remus goes back to reading his book while slowly running his fingers through Sirius' hair. Sirius closes his eyes as he enjoys the feeling of Remus' fingers running through his hair.
Later that evening after Remus leaves for his prefect patrol Sirius uses the invisibility cloak and the Marauders Map to sneak to the astronomy tower. Once he gets there he sets up the blanket and the picnic. He casts a warming charm to keep it warm enough for Remus since Remus gets cold easily and it is chilly out. Then he sits down and waits for Remus to show up.
It is a little while later when Sirius hears footsteps coming up the stairs to the astronomy tower. He stands up and smiles when he sees Remus come into view.
“Hi, Moony.” Sirius says.
“Hi, Padfoot.” Remus walks closer. “What did you want to show me?” He asks.
“I wanted to look at some constellations with you. I already cast a warming charm to make it warmer up here for us. This is the best time of year to see Sirius in the night sky. It is almost a new moon so I thought tonight would be the perfect time to look at the stars.” Sirius says.
Remus steps up beside Sirius and looks at the sky with him. “You wanted to show me the star you are named after. I have seen it a million times before Padfoot.” Remus says.
“I know. That wasn't what I wanted to show you.” Sirius says.
“Ok, then what did you want to show me?” Remus asks.
Sirius says flagrate and uses his wand to spell out S+R with a heart around it in the sky. Remus gives Sirius a confused look. “I have something I want to tell you.” Sirius says.
“What is it?” Remus asks.
Sirius takes a deep breath. “I like you Moony.” He says.
“I like you too Padfoot.” Remus replies.
Sirius shakes his head. “I'm not finished.” He takes another deep breath. “I really like you. I have feelings of more than friendship for you, and I have for a while now. I understand if you don't feel the same way, but I couldn't keep it in any longer. You are one of the most important people to me. I love spending time with you. I love when you run your fingers through my hair, and how you comfort me when I have a nightmare. Just being close to you makes me feel happy, and it helps me breathe easier. Anytime you are hurt after a full moon I am always so worried. I can't stand seeing you in pain or hurting. I know you think that you aren't worthy of love, and that is just not right. You are so worthy of love. You are one of the most kind and caring people I know. You deserve to be loved and to feel special. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am in love with you.” Sirius says.
A couple minutes pass and Sirius is worried that he messed up by telling Remus how he felt. He is about to ask Remus if he can forget what he just said when he notices the tears in Remus' eyes. “Don't cry Moony.” Sirius says.
Remus takes a deep breath and says, “They aren't sad tears. I love you too Padfoot. I have for a while now, but I was too afraid to tell you. I never thought anyone would love me.”
Sirius brushes the tears from Remus' eyes. “I love you so much, Moony.” He says. Sirius slides his hand to the back of Remus' neck and pulls him into a kiss.
When they break the kiss Remus says, “I love you too, Padfoot.” Then he pulls Sirius into another kiss.
They kiss for a few minutes before Sirius breaks the kiss. “I brought us some snacks.” He says.
Sirius guides Remus over to the blanket and they sit down. Then Sirius pulls out chocolate cake, strawberries, and butterbeer. They eat the food sitting close.
As they are eating Remus notices that Sirius has a little chocolate frosting by his lip. “You have a little something there.” Remus says pointing to the spot before using his thumb to wipe the frosting off and then he licks the frosting off his thumb. Sirius leans over and kisses Remus.
“Does this mean we are boyfriends now?” Sirius asks.
“Of course that is what it means.” Remus says.
“Good, because I can't wait to tell everyone that you are mine.” Sirius says, leaning over to kiss Remus again.
“I can't wait either.” Remus says.
They finish eating and then lay down on the blanket to watch the stars for a bit. Sirius shifts close to Remus and lays his head against his shoulder. They cuddle for a bit and watch the stars.
After a bit Remus yawns. Sirius says, “We should probably head back to the dorm. It is getting late.”
Remus wraps his arms around Sirius pulling him closer. “I wish we could stay here all night.” He says.
“I do too, but if we fall asleep here you are going to be so sore tomorrow.” Sirius says.
“Yeah, I know.” Remus says. He moves to sit up.
They clean everything up and then Sirius pulls out the map to check and make sure the coast is clear. Then he pulls out the cloak. They both get under the cloak and make their way back to Gryffindor tower. When they get back to the common room they don't see anyone around so they slip the cloak off before heading upstairs to their dorm. They make sure to be quiet as they enter their dorm in case James and Peter are asleep. Once inside their room they go into the bathroom to change into their pjs and brush their teeth for bed.
When they are done getting ready for bed they go back into their room. Sirius is about to lay down on his bed when Remus motions him over.
“Do you want to share my bed tonight?” Remus asks.
“I would love that.” Sirius replies.
They both lay down and Remus covers them both up before pulling Sirius close. He kisses Sirius and says, “Good night Padfoot. I love you.”
“Good night Moony. I love you too.” Sirius replies.
They fall asleep cuddling with each other. Neither one of them is worried about spelling the curtains closed, because they know neither James or Peter will bat an eye to them being in the same bed. Both of them are happy to be close to the one they love, and to finally be able to say that they are boyfriends.
