Work Text:

1) Santa Claus

"Okay, a ride, but nothing more."

"Everyone loves the sleigh."

Wonder

That was the only word to describe the look on Jack's face at that moment, as he stood there momentarily open-mouthed.

North felt pleased; he couldn't help the pang of pride he felt seeing Jack climb into the sleigh and laugh—it had been a long time since anyone had admired his old sleigh.

Jack's laughter, combined with his youthful face, reminded him of the children they were sworn to protect; something deep inside him urged him to shield the young spirit.

It was probably just his stomach.

Whether or not he pulled off a few unnecessary stunts—well, there’s no one who could prove it.

2) Tooth

"You mean—you mean i had a life? Before... did i have a home? A family?"

Oh, if that didn't just break her heart.

"You really forgot?"

She had never seen a case like this; now, so many things about Jack made sense.

It wasn't until later—after they had defeated Pitch and she was able to speak with Baby Tooth (did she have a name now?)—that she understood how, or rather why, Jack was a Guardian.

Jack had regained his memories.

it was me! I had a family! And a sister! And I saved her!

Those were the words Jack spoke, according to Baby Tooth, after seeing his memories.

And after fighting Pitch, having his staff broken, being thrown off a cliff, and knocked unconscious...

She would have a long talk with Jack, but for now, she had a job to do: looking after Jack's memories.

Along with those of all the other children.

3) Bunny

"Jack Frost."

"Did he just say...?"

"Jack Frost."

"He said it again; he said—you said..."

"Jack Frost."

"That's right! It's me! That's my name! You said my name."

Jack was in shock—completely stunned. A child was saying his name—and looking right at him!

"Can you hear me?" A nod.

"Can you see me?" Another nod.

"He can see me!"

"He can see me!"

Unbeknownst to Jack, Bunny shuddered where he sat in the sleigh; he had felt not only the last light regaining hope, but something else, too—as if another light had been ignited.

It wasn't until he realized that the last light (Jamie—his name is Jamie) could see Jack that he understood.

Jack had found hope again.

And he could feel it—he could feel it just as if Jack were any other child.

As if Jack weren't 300 years old and hadn't known of their existence all along.

(Perhaps that was precisely why they didn't die; perhaps, when Jamie stopped believing—even if only for a moment—they didn't vanish because Jack still believed in them.)

+1

"Play in the snow? Who do you think I am? I'm busy!" Bunny complained.

"Oh, come on, Bunny! You need to relax and play. Didn't you say you wanted to spend time with the kids?"

"That sounds fun!" said Tooth, fluttering over the lake.

It was late winter—the snow hadn't quite melted yet, but the chill remained.

"It's freezing out here! I'm not about to freeze my nose off," growled Bunny. He was just about to dig a tunnel when a snowball hit him right in the face.

Everyone held their breath, waiting for an angry shout, but instead, a burst of laughter erupted from the Easter Bunny.

Blue sparkles faded from his face as he started chasing Jamie and his friends; suddenly, everyone was playing along.

It was a fun-filled day; North was on his knees catching his breath, while Tooth chatted with Sophie, showing her her feathers.

Sandy appeared in front of Jack.

"Hey, Sandy. Did you have fun?"

"(*﹏*;)"

"Is it too cold? You're right—it's time for everyone to head home."

"◕✿✷✷✧♡"

"Me too, buddy. Me too."
