Arc 1: The blood of Winter

Summary:

When Eddard Stark was beheaded, his blood tore open the Throne of Heroes, awakening all six Stark children as living Demi-Servants to history’s greatest legends. Overnight, the wolves of Winterfell shed mortal limits to become living gods.

Westeros sees no game menus—only the terrifying reality of an ancient dynasty claiming its blood-debt. From Sansa executing court vipers with golden portals to Arya cleaving the Mountain in half with Ice, feudal logic collapses into pure dread.

Told through the eyes of the terrified realm, the Kings of Winter have returned—and mercy is dead.

Note: written for my own amusement there are many mistakes I didn't bother correcting. if you feel strongly about them send me a message I will add you as a Beta for the story.

Chapter 1: Prologue: The Awakening of the First Men (POV: Omniscient / The Subterranean Roots)

Chapter Text

The executioner’s blade was supposed to end the war before it even began.

Joffrey Baratheon stood upon the marble steps of the Great Sept of Baelor, his golden curls gleaming in the sweltering King’s Landing sun, his lips curled in a nasty, wet smirk. The crowd of forty thousand smallfolk roared like starving dogs, baying for traitor’s blood. Down in the front row, nine-year-old Arya was being tackled into the dirt by the Night’s Watch recruiter, while high on the scaffold, eleven-year-old Sansa screamed until her throat tore raw.

Ned Stark knelt in the filth. His leg was broken, his honor was butchered, and his confession had been a lie bought to keep his daughters breathing.

He didn't look at the King. He looked up at the pale sky. In his final, dying breath, the Lord of Winterfell didn't pray to the Seven, nor did he plead for southron mercy. With every drop of eight-thousand-year-old King of Winter blood burning in his veins, his soul screamed out to the cold heart trees of the North:

Save my children. Avenge my blood.

The great two-handed broadsword Ice swung down.

SHING-CRACK.

Steel severed spine, muscle, and flesh. The head of Eddard Stark rolled into the red dirt.

The crowd erupted into deafening cheers. Queen Cersei smiled a cold, victorious smile. Joffrey clapped his hands like a toddler with a fresh toy.

They thought the Stark dynasty was broken.

They didn't know that Valyrian steel was forged in dragonflame and blood magic. They didn't know that Ned Stark’s royal First Men blood, soaking directly into the ancient leyline fault line beneath the Great Sept, was the exact metaphysical catalyst the dying planet had been starving for.

And they certainly didn't feel the universe snap.

Far beneath the soil, deep within the molten marrow of the world, something ancient and terrified opened its eyes.

The world was dying.

Beyond the Wall, the true enemy was already marching. The Great Other—the cosmic embodiment of frozen silence and absolute death—was waking from its eight-thousand-year sleep. The magical reserves of Westeros were completely drained. Dragons were dead. The Citadel had poisoned the higher mysteries. The knights of the realm were greedy cowards, and the Night’s Watch was a joke made of gutter thieves. If left to mortal men, humanity would be wiped clean from the earth in less than three years.

The world’s collective survival instinct—the ancient Counter Force—screamed for a miracle.

It looked to its own degraded soil and found nothing.

So it reached outside of time.

Beyond the mortal realm, past the endless branching corridors of human history, sits the eternal vault of apex legends: The Throne of Heroes.

A royal bloodline martyr. An ancestral blade. A dying patriarch’s absolute sacrifice. The conditions were met. The golden gates of the Throne were forcefully wrenched open.

There was no ambient magic to summon independent Heroic Spirits into physical bodies; they would have starved to death in days. The planet had only one terrifying option: The Vessel Graft.

The Saint Graphs—the parameters, skills, and legendary Noble Phantasms of history’s greatest champions—were hammered directly into the souls of Eddard Stark's six living children.

Normally, the raw, cosmic weight of a Heroic Spirit would incinerate a mortal child's mind in seconds. A nine-year-old merged with a Berserker would have her brain melted into boiling mush. A toddler fused with a Lancer would be ripped apart by beast-fury.

But the Starks were skinchangers.

The moment the alien power descended from the stars, the children's soul-bonds kicked in. The six direwolf pups—born in the snow on the exact day their father's doom had been sealed—acted as metaphysical lightning rods. The direwolves absorbed the raw madness and the conceptual corruption, grounding it into their growing, monstrous frames.

The wolves took the beast-wrath. The children kept their human minds.

And through the subterranean roots of the weirwood trees stretching from the Frostfangs to the Isle of Faces, the six children were stitched together into a single, unbreakable party network: The Winter Communion.

The next dawn, six children woke up. And feudal Westeros was about to learn what happened when you pushed sheep so far they turned into living gods.

In the Red Keep’s maiden tower, Sansa Stark sat up on her featherbed.

The crying was gone. The weeping, frightened little bird who had begged Joffrey for her father's life had vanished into ash. In her dreams, she had stood atop a golden ziggurat beneath a burning sky, where a king with crimson eyes and golden hair had laughed at her tears and shoved the keys to mankind's primordial vault into her hands.

Floating before her eyes, glowing in blood-red First Men runes that no one else in the castle could see, was a floating slate:

Sansa looked out her window toward the yard where Joffrey was shooting arrows at squires. A faint, golden ripple—no larger than a copper penny—sparkled in the air beside her fingertips. She closed her hand, extinguishing the golden light, her lips curving into a smile that would have made Tywin Lannister’s heart stop.

Enjoy your little crown, boy, she thought, her voice ringing with the pride of an ancient emperor. Every stone in this castle belongs to me.

At Riverrun, Robb Stark gripped the hilt of his plain castle-forged longsword.

His mother thought he was grieving. His lords thought he was a green boy out of his depth against the legendary Jaime Lannister. They had no idea that in his sleep, a woman with golden hair and silver-and-blue plate had driven the heavy weight of an unbending, merciless crown into his soul.

Robb swung his practice blade in the empty pavilion. The iron didn't just whistle—it tore through the air with a pressurized shockwave of invisible, howling wind that blew the heavy oak war-maps completely off the table.

Beside him, Grey Wind let out a low, bone-chilling roar that silenced every warhorse in the Riverlands camp. Robb didn't need to guess where Jaime Lannister was marching. His eyes tracked the leylines of the terrain like a hawk hunting mice.

"The Whispering Wood," Robb whispered, his blue Tully eyes freezing into glacial slate. "None of them walk out alive."

Seven hundred leagues to the north, at Castle Black, Jon Snow held his burned hands over the forge fires.

The corpse of Othor was still smoking in the courtyard. The old rangers were whispering that the bastard boy had fought like a demon to save the Lord Commander. They didn't know that when Jon closed his eyes, he stood upon an endless tundra of twilight and rusted steel, watching a white-haired man in a tattered red cloak loose storms of tracked blades into the dark.

Jon reached into the scrap pile, pulling out a bent, discarded iron arrow.

He didn't need an anvil. He pulsed his prana.

With a soft, rhythmic hum like an ancient engine waking up, a bright blue circuit flared across the metal. The iron straightened instantly. The stress fractures sealed. The crude point honed itself into an edge so terrifyingly sharp it sliced through the falling snowflakes before they could touch the metal.

Ghost stepped out of the shadow of the Wall, his red eyes burning, taller and broader than a mountain pony. Jon looked up at the seven-hundred-foot wall of ice.

"Let them come," the bastard muttered, his voice cold as the grave. "I'll shoot them out of the sky."

On the Kingsroad, beneath an overturned hay-cart, Arya Stark gripped the hilt of Ice.

The greatsword was six feet long. It weighed more than she did. Yet as her small, bruised fingers curled around the dark, rippling Valyrian steel, the massive blade rose from the straw as weightlessly as a feather.

She had no words from her partner. Heracles didn't speak. He only gave her his rage. He gave her skin that mundane iron could not pierce, and bones that hit with the kinetic force of a battering ram.

Arya poked her head out from the straw, her grey eyes locking onto the Lannister outriders laughing by the road. Her fingers tightened around the ancestral greatsword. She bared her teeth in a feral, childish grin.

"Joffrey. Cersei. Ilyn Payne. The Mountain," she whispered.

She wasn't running anymore. She was hunting.

In Winterfell, eight-year-old Bran Stark lay in his bed, listening to the hot springs humming inside the granite walls.

His legs didn't work, but he didn't care. In his mind, he was running through a field of infinite, blooming purple flowers with an incubus magus who laughed at the petty boundaries of mortal bodies.

Bran reached out with his mind. Instantly, his consciousness shot through the stone, through the soil, connecting to the subterranean weirwood root network. He saw Robb preparing his cavalry in the south; he saw Sansa quietly measuring the necks of the Gold Cloaks; he saw Jon nocking arrows at the Wall.

And in the courtyard below, four-year-old Rickon dropped to all fours beside Shaggydog, his teeth bared, holding a fire-hardened ash spear that hummed with ancient First Men runes of slaughter—the savage spirit of Ulster’s hound waking inside a toddler’s fists.

Bran smiled a gentle, terrifying smile.

"The wolves are awake," the boy whispered to the quiet room. "And winter is finally here."

The lords of Westeros still thought they were playing a game of thrones.

They thought this was a war of gold, marriages, and backroom betrayals. They thought the North was just another province to be pillaged, and the Starks were just another broken family to be swept into the dustbin of history.

They had no idea that the rules of reality had just been rewritten.

The board was overturned. The players were armed with the power of gods. And when the North came to collect its debt, they weren't going to ask for a crown.

They were coming to burn the board to cinders.
