Work Text:
It's unrealistic. In fact, Kanna thinks it's straight up stupid and illogical, that she chooses to not believe everything she's been told about. She's not some naive woman who can be fed with lies, you know. She's smart enough to figure it out when someone tries to hide the truth from her because they don't think Kanna can handle it. Excuse her, she definitely can handle it.
And nobody, she means, nobody ever escapes from her charm.
That should have included, Dr. Nijiku.
She's often depicted as someone who makes you question your sexuality and it doesn't just get applied to straight women, but she thinks, it's also applied for the gay men.
Of course, while she doesn't say it out loud (one can get awful backlash for it, trust her, she knows), she truly believes that's her actual power.
When she's admitted to the ER for the small accident at work (a huge camera has malfunctioned and dropped on her head, knocking her out), she wouldn't expect she would instantly be attracted by the doctor who's assigned for her. Kanna dislikes hospitals as much as every normal person would, but she finds herself wanting to linger longer when Dr. Nijiku is in close proximity.
He's young and he's attractive and he has this nonchalance while also this natural attentiveness that will increase her heartbeat rate if she's ever plugged into the machine.
"I would never expect myself to be in the charge of the Kanna Minami herself," Dr. Nijiku smiles at her. "I've heard only great things about you."
Kanna is so used to compliments and praises and yet, when it comes from this particular doctor, she can't help but blush.
"Your injury isn't severe, I've treated your head and I have prescribed some painkiller in case it's throbbing and triggering the headache, but you might need to take some time off to make sure it's healed properly." Dr. Nijiku scribbles something in his notepad, before he gives it to the nurse. The nurse nods, exiting the room. "It's surely a dangerous place to be at, with giant cameras and mics all over the place, hm?"
Kanna waves him off. "The work safety is usually top notch, but just like what they say, the unlucky days aren't marked in the calendar."
He expects the doctor to chuckle, but he only squints at her. "I would recommend your management to do a thorough checkup after the incident. You happened to be very lucky, Miss Minami, but the potential of reoccurring head injury isn't a joke. It's very serious and could be very damaging."
There's sternness in his voice, that makes him ten times more attractive and she kind of understands when she catches nurses gossip about him even if Kanna hasn't been in this hospital for long.
"I'll let my manager know," Kanna nods. "Thanks, Doc."
Dr. Nijiku's gaze lingers on her like he wants to say something but decides against it, and he merely gives her another smile.
"I wish you a speedy recovery, Miss Minami."
It's a shame that Dr. Nijiku's gay, she recalls the gossip.
Well, Kanna Minami is proud to say that she's very well-known to influence people to change their sexuality and she would be damned if she couldn't prove herself to do it to this one fine doctor.
Yuki stares at her incredulously. Her make-up artists slash best friend for fifteen years often acts more dramatic than her that Minami is surprised that it's not Yuki who's getting nominated for the Best Lead Actress for Drama in last season's television award show. Maybe because, she's too dramatic it makes her unbelievable, unlike Minami who's currently displaying the trophy in her living room.
She's been discharged hours ago, but she doesn't go home soon, and is opting to hang out around the hospital cafeteria with Yuki.
Her manager has phoned her, informing her that Minami's schedule has been cleared off for a week, following the incident and just as Dr. Nijiku suggested, there'll be an audit to the working environment per her management's request. That'll earn her enough time to rest and probably execute her plan.
"Don't tell me, you're crushing on your own doctor," Yuki whispers to her, looking around as if she's afraid someone could have heard them. Which soon follows with restrained shriek that defeats the whole purpose of whispering. "Oh my god! The doctor! Dr. Nijiku!?"
Kanna doesn't bother to tell to shut up since there's literally no one in the cafeteria but them, so she just shrugs. "He's hot, why not?"
Yuki gives her the look, again.
"You only meet him once," Yuki hisses. "If the tabloid ever gets ahold of this information—"
Kanna kicks her shin, causing Yuki to yelp, more in surprise, than in pain.
"They'll find out soon if you don't shut up, for god's sake, Yucchi."
Yuki grimaces, but she does lower her voice. "What are you gonna do, though? No offense, but he doesn't seem to be that interested in you, Kacchan."
Kanna has calculated that. There's perks of being famous actress and one of them is that she can do easily gain information by merely flashing smiles and indulges people who asks for her autographs. Some nurses have fallen into this trap, that in no time she already gets information about when does Dr. Nijiku's shift end and when will he come in tomorrow.
It's amazing how much things she could get, just because she's famous.
Dr. Nijiku is having a morning shift today, so he will get off, Kanna checks her watch, in fifteen minutes.
This is why she doesn't go as soon as she gets discharged, she wants to accidentally bumps into him at the parking lot and probably offers him a ride home.
The nurses did tell her that Dr. Nijiku usually takes buses, and isn't bringing his own vehicle.
"Isn't someone picking him up?" One of the nurses had said.
Her fellow colleague hums thoughtfully. "I think, only on certain day? I bumped into him on the bus a couple days ago. Taking his usual route."
And so it's established.
The gay allegation is just allegation until proven otherwise.
And Kanna is very determined to be the one who prove it wrong.
Unfortunately, she can't find Dr. Nijiku anywhere.
Not in the parking lot, not in the front desk, nowhere. She asks around but nobody is willing to tell her things until she gets to the security guard, whose daughter happens to be her fans, and he informs her that Dr. Nijiku had just exited the building five minutes ago.
"I don't see him, so Dr. Nijiku must have walked to the bus stop over there, just around the corner of the street."
Kanna doesn't waste her time. She's telling Yuki to bring her car there, so that they can accidentally pass the doctor.
And true to the security guard's words, there's a familiar figure sitting on the bench, busying himself with the phone in his hand. Yuki slows down her car, so it stops right in front of the bus stop.
The man looks up at their arrival.
"Dr. Nijiku?" Kanna rolls down the window, pretending like she's not expecting to see the doctor in the bus stop. "You're taking the bus?"
If Dr. Nijiku is surprised to see her, he definitely doesn't show it.
"Ah, well," he turns his head to the street once before returning his attention back to her. "Aren't you discharged hours ago?"
"I was having my lunch at the cafeteria," she grins. "And as you have suggested, I just had a long conversation with manager about the the safety of the movie set."
The doctor returns the gesture. "I hope it'll go well."
"It is, thanks to you," Kanna looks back, before she gets her head out of the window. "How about we're driving you home, Doctor? Just a small token of gratitude for treating me and showing me the importance of having the safest working environment."
This time, Dr. Nijiku looks genuinely surprised by the offer. Kanna tries her best to not act all smug and mighty over this new development, but she's definitely ready to unlock the passenger door, when Dr. Nijiku's gaze drifts from her and her car to something from the direction where the bus is supposed to come.
Except, it isn't a car.
It's a bike.
Kanna doesn't have time to see what kind of bike that seemingly fascinates the doctor, but she does get to see how Dr. Nijiku's expression transforms rather animatedly at the arrival of the bike that stops in front of her car.
A man in the leather jacket turns off the ignition and pulls off his full-face helmet, revealing equally attractive face, with spikey blond hair and black earrings adorn his ears. Kanna can see something peeking out from his lapel and his jacket, and only then she realizes that the man is covered in tattoos.
"Holy fucking shit, you're really Kanna Minami," the man takes a glance at her and quickly jumps off of his bike.
Kanna considers of staying inside her car, but she decides to get out to asses the situation.
While the man is shamelessly ogling her, Kanna can see how he gravitates to Dr. Nijiku, telling her that he's actually here for him.
"See, I'm not lying," Dr. Nijiku grins, it looks completely different from any other time he ever gives Kanna the smile. It's carefree and almost boyish, dare she also says, it seems to be private and more reserved, especially for this man. "Have a little faith in me."
The man laughs, but he naturally slides his arm around the doctor's waist while completely has his attention on Kanna.
What's happening, now?
"Never doubts you for one second, Doc," he offers his free hand to Kanna. "I'm a huge fans, Miss Minami. Your performance in the House for Two really amazes me. Very award-worthy if I may say."
Dr. Nijiku looks at him, with something akin to adoration, as he backs him up. "Enjin has religiously follows your works. We both agree that you are snubbed from last year's award. Detective Koyabashi is a very phenomenal role."
"Yeah, I've been telling him that and he doesn't believe me!" The man, Enjin literally vibrates with excitement. "Can't believe, Zanka gets to treat you and I get to see you too!"
That earns him an elbow on the ribs.
Kanna is still standing there, like an idiot, doesn't know what to make of the situation.
"It's classified information and I shouldn't tell anyone about my patient like that," Dr. Nijiku looks apologetic enough. "But my boyfriend is also a huge fans of yours, so I hope you can forgive me for sharing this small information with him."
Boyfriend, she repeats the word in her head. Fucking boyfriend.
This hot biker guy is the boyfriend of the hot doctor guy.
The hot doctor guy is having a hot biker guy as his boyfriend.
The gossip isn't just gossip.
Nijiku.
Except, Dr. Nijiku isn't just repellent to her charm, Dr. Nijiku is completely immune to her attempt of seduction because he's already taken and the one who takes him is this buff, smoldering guy to which Kanna can't compete with.
"That's alright," Kanna forces a smile. Being an actress for half of her life, it's not hard to pretend that she's completely fine with the turn of the event.
She tries to not think about the whole I-Told-You-So that will surely come from Yuki later.
She's gonna be super insufferable about this.
"So," Enjin clears his throat. "I know, this may be stupid request, and you are absolutely allowed to say no, but can we get a picture? I'm not in any social media, but it'll be nice to have it framed at our home."
Oh God, they're not just gays, they're also that old married couple kind of gays, too.
He expects Dr. Nijiku to act differently, but he seems like he's looking forward to everything his boyfriend has just said, too.
Before Kanna can make her decision, the option is completely taken away from her hand in the form of Yuki exiting the car and answering on her behalf.
"Sure thing! Let me take the picture," she jogs a little as Enjin happily hands her his phone. "You two look really cute, by the way. Don't you agree, Kacchan?"
Kanna goes to stand in the middle of the men, putting on her best actress smile.
"Absolutely the cutest."
Kanna will never go back to this hospital, ever again.
