Chapter Text

"Dhani!" George exclaims from his home office, "How do I open Google again?"

"Open a window!" Dhani yells back, then realises he'd rather not risk being taken literally again, "...Nevermind, I'm on it!"

He enters the home office, George naturally scooting aside to give him space to work. Dhani pulls up a separate chair, sitting next to his father as he opens Google.

"So... what do you want to look up?" Dhani scopes, eyes wandering to the bookmarks.

Said bookmarks consisted of various gardening forums, youtube, bobdylan.com, Formula 1, and different forums on Hinduism. What else could it be?

"Have you heard of this... Facebook?" George asks.

Dhani slowly nods, squinting.

"I want to get on it." George states. "Can you help me?"

Dhani nods, already typing in the URL. Once there, he helps set up the account.

"Want me to use a recent photo, or do I pick one off Google?" Dhani asks.

"Google has images of me?" George squints.

"It has images of everyone." Dhani states, searching up 'George Harrison'.

George raises his eyebrows, looking over all the old images of himself that were suddenly higher in quality.

"How about a more recent one?" George comments, "After all, I'm not the Quiet Beatle anymore."

Dhani nods, correcting his search to "George Harrison now."

"That one." George states, hinting his head at the monitor's general direction. 

"Which one?" Dhani sighs. 

George takes the mouse, selecting an image that was indeed recent - a recent colourisation of him as a Beatle. 

"Dad, that image is older than I am." Dhani snarks.

"You have to admit, I was pretty damn cute." George grins, "Younger than you, already working on Sgt. Pepper."

Dhani rolls his eyes but let's out an amused chuckle anyway.

"...I'll just get the latest photo of you in the garden." Dhani states, pulling up the latest phone back up on the PC.

He pulls up a recent photo of George posing with a freshly earthed carrot he grew, the tip of which has been bitten by snails.

"No, not that one." George protests, "I look dead grotty. Like I'm the freshly earthed one."

Dhani snickers, flipping to the next one. It was with the same carrot, but the pose and lighting is slightly different. 

"That one." George demands, "Now that's better."

Dhani stifles an 'it looks the same...' as he goes to upload the photo. 

"Can't you put the whole photo?" George asks, watching Dhani try to crop the photo.

"No, why?" Dhani asks back, hyperfocused.

"Make sure you show the whole carrot." George advises. "Snails don't bite bad carrots. Cut the end, the rest is Heaven."

Dhani nods, making an attempt.

Once done, with the carrot only showing the greens, Dhani scoots aside to let George make his first ever post.

Dhani stifles a chuckle, nodding.

"Alright, hit enter." He says as he does, George's first ever textpost being released to the world wide web.

"Now what?" George asks.

"You find your friends and send them friend requests." Dhani explains, demonstrating by sending a request to himself off George's account, followed by Olivia.

Next comes the first reply, that being Ringo's.

"Well... I'll leave you to it. Holler of you need any help." Dhani smiles, escaping the situation.

George nods, sending Ringo a friend request and slowly typing out his reply.

Dhani himself just returns to his own work, being a boring industrial design nerd who'd probably have a very detailed opinion about the post-soviet blocks here in Eastern Europe, parentheses closed. About an hour into the zone, he decides to check Facebook again.

Dhani scoffs a laugh, looking at the image of his father embracing said maple tree and smiling harder than he did at Dhani's own graduation. He sends a like and looks at the replies.

They do know these are public posts, right? thinks Dhani to himself, sending a reply.

Dhani shakes his head, yet can't stifle a smile. He simply switches tabs back to his ongoing work.

Meanwhile, George is still in his study, replying to his new friends' posts.

He then gets tagged in something, clicking on the notification.

He then spends the rest of the day going through Ravi Shankar's page, replying to every post with "BEAUTIFUL!!! 🙏" or "HARE KRISHNA!!! 🙏" before deciding to call it a day and returning to his usual routine.
