    The thing that Armin isn’t mentioning is: he’s leaving in two days.

    His bags are already packed, arranged neatly (two light blue suitcases, piled up on top of each other) by the door. It’s fucked up.

    Armin stretches walking in. The cat, Bean, comes to greet him, rubbing herself on his legs. Eren stares, pondering: the cat won’t miss me. But I will miss her.

    “Thank you for driving me home, Eren,” Armin says. “And for inviting me to your gig. I had so much fun.”

    “Of course,” Eren says reflexively.

    Armin yawns. “I’m changing then coming to bed. Join me?”

    Armin bats his eyes so tenderly, so alluringly, that it hurts Eren. Something breaks inside him at that very moment. “No,” he says, feeling mean.
