Summary
The first time he’d seen the other player, or rather, taken note of him, was while watching an illegal stream of the 2016 Euros game on his phone when he was supposed to be doing his homework.
At the time of him noticing, the man had been adorned in a red and white checkered kit, sweaty and – and crying as his team lost, being comforted by the likes of Pepe and Ronaldo. The whole team seemed inconsolable to have lost after coming so far in the Euros, but all young Sergio could focus on was Croatia’s number 10. Luka Modrić looked absolutely devastated. He looked gutted to have let the victory slip away after such a game; his eyebrows had been downturned, his eyes glassy and with a hand on his throat he looked to be suppressing a sob trying to leave it. To Sergio’s eyes and sympathetic heart, the man was beautiful.
