Summary
The McMillin boys join the 18th Regiment of the 1st Infantry division in November of 1943, 8 months before D-Day. They quickly befriend Anthony Iero and Raymond Torres, two soldiers in the same Squad and, coincidentally, their bunk-mates. In such close quarters and with not a lot to do outside of training, the boys spend their time elsewhere, James consistently writing home to their mother and keeping a series of small journals documenting his experience.
