Chapter Text
Pentagram City, 1955
It was early in the morning. Maybe 7 a.m. The red sun was shining through the curtains as it hit your face and you woke up from your sleep. You stretched your arms and sat up and bed, and noticed something was missing.
It was your boyfriend, Vox. He'd usually be on the other side of the bed, but he wasn't here for some strange reason. It wasn't like he left for work either. He was off today.
But maybe he was downstairs.
You got out of the bed and stood up fully, making your way towards the door to head downstairs. Your hair was in a mess from sleep last night, and your pajamas were a bit wrinkled. It's not like you cared though. Your main focus was wondering where Vox was.
Sure enough, when you started walking down the stairs, the smell of fresh bacon and eggs hit your nose. He was definitely cooking breakfast for you. Which is very sweet of him.
Vox was already dressed for the day, in his usual little top hat and suit. He was quietly humming a tune to himself as he served bacon and eggs onto two plates—one for you and one for him—on the kitchen counter.
He heard your footsteps as you walked down the stairs, and turned around. His smile grew wide at the sight of you, and instantly started walking towards you.
"Babyyy! You're awake!!" He chirped, wrapping his arms around your waist into a hug. "Sorry for waking up so early... I just really wanted to cook Breakfast for you this morning..."
"You didn't have to do that..." You smiled softly.
"I know..." He chuckled. "But... I wanted to do something for you, okay? I only want to do the best for my queen..."
"Awwww... Vox..." You cooed. "You're so sweet"
Vox (reluctantly) let go of the hug, taking your hand and leading you to the dining table.
"Here honey! Have a seat... I made bacon and eggs with orange juice... You like orange juice, right?"
You nod. Vox smiles. He grabs the two plates of bacon and eggs, setting one infront of you and one in the seat besides you, where he'd be sitting. After, he grabbed two glasses of cold orange juice from the fridge and set them infront of the plates as well, before finally taking his seat down next to you to enjoy Breakfast.
"There you go! I really hope you like it..." He blushed, rubbing his arm.
Vox looked a little nervous. He just really hoped you would like the Breakfast he made. After all, he only wants you to be happy. When your not satisfied, he doesn't like it, and will do anything to make sure you're happy.
You grabbed a fork and went for the eggs first, taking a bite. You smile and let out a small "mmm!" in satisfaction. He did really good with the eggs. You chewed and swallowed before expressing your gratitude.
"Vox... This is really good! You did amazing..."
"Really?" Vox's eyes lit up. "You really like it?"
"Of course I do!" You reassured. "It tastes great... Thanks babe..."
Vox starts to swing his legs under the table, his hands folded in his lap. His smile grew wide from the fact you liked his breakfast. "You're welcome, sweetheart..."
His hand reached from under the table to gently take your hand into his, intertwing your fingers together as you two sat in silence and ate breakfast. It's only been about 2½ years since you started dating, but Vox still acted the same now as he did 2½ years ago, still madly in love with you and still clingy. In fact, near the window, Vox kept a photo of you and him the night before a dinner on your first anniversary. He still remembered that very night.
You and Vox quietly continued to eat his bacon and eggs, the moment perfectly blissful and content. He never thought domestic life was for him, but he would never complain. It wasn't how he felt at all, he enjoyed it. Especially with you by his side, he was unstoppable.
He felt like he had it all with you.
"You almost finished?" Vox asked, dropping his fork on his now-empty plate and grabbing a napkin to wipe his mouth.
"Almost" You replied, taking another bite of the bacon.
"Okay. Take your time, baby. There's no rush..." He rubbed his thumb gently along your knuckles.
It didn't take much longer before you finished yourself, setting your fork on the plate and wiping your mouth with a napkin as well.
Since Vox cooked, you thought that it only made sense for you to clean the dishes. You gathered both your plates and got up to set them in the sink.
"It only makes sense that I'll clean since you cooked..." You spoke as you separated the forks and the plates.
"Aww... Thanks, darling. You didn't have to do that, y'know... I would've cleaned the dishes..."
He got up from his seat and came right behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist as you scrubbed the plates clean with a nearby sponge and bottle of soap. He presses a gentle kiss to the top of your head.
"I love you sweetheart..." He whispered quietly, resting his chin on your shoulder. Given that his head was a literal tv, it was a bit heavy on your shoulder, which is why he's always so careful not to hurt you.
"I love you too..." You whispered back, scrubbing the plates with the sponge.
Those four little words that you always say back to him never failed to make his heart warm. It was like a favorite song you never wanna stop hearing and just wanna keep listening too on repeat.
Isn't it obvious he's so in love with you?
