im no hero ( i'll still come to your rescue )

Summary:

Eddie would be lying if he said it didn't infuriate him when he started seeing Steve 'the hair' Harrington start frequenting the trailer park. What kind of nickname is that anyway? It's like an insolent designed a character and couldn't think of anything of importance besides a haircut.

He supposes it's only fitting for a guy like Harrington. Eddie is unfortunately familiar with the type. Dumb jock himbo who is decent at throwing around a stupid ball and so now everyone falls to his feet like he's made of gold. People legit treat him like royalty.

OR

Steve has been frequenting the trailer park ever since some preteen moved in, and Eddie is not a fan. But what is he to do when she comes to him for help when Steve gets hurt?

Notes:

Okay look day five was originally one of my favorites but far too much of it is unedited, I am sick, I have to be up at 5am and the world is conspiring against me. I will be back for you my beloved, but tomorrow needs to be about day 6 :/

Day 5 prompts:

Enemy to Caretaker / Imposter Syndrome / Haircut
"I only make things worse"

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Eddie wasn't expecting to have to play hero today. If only he was braver than he is. He's the type of guy to run away from his problems not towards other peoples.

He parades around town in his ridiciously expensive and utterly obnoxious Beemer. Eddie has despised the godforsaken thing ever since he started seeing it around town. His only saving grace has been Forest Hills trailer park, because up until recent Silver Spoon Steve Harrington wouldn't be caught dead in a place like this.

And yet ever since he got new neighbor moved in, that horrendous deep Maroon has been peeking through the blinds in his living room more weeks than not.

It's really starting to grind his gears. Most of the jocks are busy running around terrorizing downtown or shotgunning beers in a parking lot somewhere. He'll see them out and about at gas stations, sneering at him and calling him trailer trash. Wannabe. Freak. The usual.

And even though it adds to the long list of reasons he's treated like dirt on one of their fancy shoes, Eddie likes the trailer park. It's home. It's respite from the blundering idiots who think all their money somehow makes up for the fact that they are loser conformists with no personality aside from being rich assholes.

They bug him everywhere in this godforsaken town except at home.

So yeah, Eddie's not the biggest fan of seeing the guy in his territory. Or his stupid haircut. Sue him. It doesn't change the fact that for the past two months he's been showing up at least once a week, hauling what looks like at least thirty bucks of groceries and banging on the trailer door until a red headed preteen opens it with a scowl on her face. She normally huffs and rolls her eyes before eventually moving aside to let him in.

Should Eddie be this aware of their little routine they got going on? Probably not. But what can he say? On top of having always loved people watching, Eddie's learned it's best to keep his eye on everything jock related in order to be ready when they eventually try and pull a fast one on him.

Notes:

Thank you for taking the time to read this little blurb! It's quite fun joining along the writing side of Whumptober. I can't wait for thanksgiving break to backtrack and read everyones lol.
