Work Text:
namjoon carded his fingers through his lover’s slightly damp hair, watching as the soft blankets of pink appeared on his cheeks and his lips effortlessly curled into a smile. seokjin leaned into the delicate touch, reaching out to settle his hand onto his boyfriend’s cheek affectionately.
“thank you so much for tonight, joonie,” jin whispered, averting his gaze from the younger male’s eyes when he realized they were settled on his smooth lips.
“of course, you deserve the best.”
namjoon let his hand fall, then gently tipped seokjin’s chin up. “tonight was for you,” the older sighed dreamily, his eyes fluttering closed when their lips met and his heart felt like velvet.
seokjin happily lay in his lover’s arms, finishing checking his social media and answering the comments his followers left him..tonight was one of the best nights of his life; namjoon always planned the most wonderful dates, and seokjin couldn’t wait to have more of them in the future.
he’ll never forget how good the food tasted because of the way namjoon nervously told him he could get whatever he wanted, since he had been saving up to treat him.he’ll never ever forget how they held hands underneath the table, or ever forget how warm his lover was when they walked alongside the river, with his head resting on his shoulder and his arm wrapped around his waist, much like it was now. what seokjin really was thinking, though, was that he’ll never forget how much he loved namjoon.
namjoon held his lover tightly in his arms, pulling him close so that his chest was pressed against his back, and he nuzzled his nose against the back of his neck. seokjin set his phone down on the bedside table, his heart fluttering when he finally let his eyes close, and reality dawned on him.
here he was, in the arms of the love of his life after an amazing date, and he couldn’t have felt more light and airy than he did then. seokjin felt so safe there with him, he felt so right tucked up against him and feeling his gentle puffs of breath against his skin. the older sighed into his pillow, a tiny smile pulling at his lips when namjoon buried further against him.
this was it: the perfect night.
“mommy…,” seokjin stirred in his sleep, rolling over slightly and reaching out to grab gently at namjoon’s shirt.
“m-mommy.”
his eyes fluttered open, breath catching in his throat as he let go of his lover to try his best to sit up, even though he was still half asleep.
“jimin, baby? what’s the matter?” jin could barely even process what was going on, but through his blurry eyes he could see the small boy standing next to the bed with his arms out so he could be picked up.
“missed you…” jimin whispered, his voice little and slightly breaking. the older boy cooed lightly, leaning over to pick the boy up.
yoongi had watched jimin for the night, and the boy had gone to bed quite early because yoongi’s son, jungkook, was a bit younger than him, and had fallen asleep the moment he decided ‘sleep’ was something he wanted to do. jimin was left with no one to play with, and though he did play pattycake with uncle yoongi a couple of times, he eventually got tired of it. yoongi was going to ask if he wanted a snack, only to find him asleep on the floor next to his favourite pony colouring book.
“are you okay baby?” seokjin whispered, pressing a soft kiss to the boy’s forehead, and wiping away the slightly dried up tears that glimmered on his squishy cheeks.
“y-yeah, just wanted you,” jimin was laying on top of seokjin, his hands gently holding at his shoulders, and jin wrapped his arms around the puppy.
“did you have a good time with yoongi?” jin asked, watching as jimin puffed out his cheeks and slowly nodded.
“not as much fun as i would have had with you, though…,” jimin was always, always going to be upset when it came to separation just because he loved seokjin so much.
“You really are my little baby,hm?” seokjin ran his fingers through the puppy’s hair, watching as his floppy ears wiggled, then smiled as bright as the sun.
“yeah! your baby!” jimin cheered quite loudly, and jin had to hold back his laughter because namjoon was still sleeping soundly beside him.
“honey, you have to be quiet, daddy is sleeping,” he pressed another kiss to his cheek, and the puppy flushed shyly about getting so excited.
“o-oh, i’m sorry momma,” jimin rested his cheek against the man’s chest, his eyes closing for a second before he whined slightly. “tomorrow, can i have banana pancakes?” whatever made jimin ask that was beyond seokjin, and the elder couldn’t help but let out a loud chuckle.
“you can have whatever you want, baby,” seokjin kissed the top of his head, watching as a little lump under the blankets began to wiggle and he held his baby even closer to him. the puppy’s tail continued to wag, even though it was tiring because of all the blankets on top of him, and jimin kissed jin’s jaw very softly.
“i love you momma, really do,” the puppy managed, his voice slightly slurred because it was well past his bedtime and jin was proving to be the comfiest pillow.
“i love you more, sweetheart,” seokjin swallowed the lump in his throat, holding jimin as if he was the most precious thing in the world;to jin he probably was.
he was his everything.
seokjin had fallen asleep about five minutes after jimin did, still holding him gently in his arms and keeping him safe. his lover rolled over in bed, eyes fluttering open, and he smiled softly at the sight. the two most important people to him, in complete peace, and surrounded by love.
namjoon scooted closer, kissing the puppy’s forehead softly and adoring the way his lips parted in a tiny snore. he looked up at seokjin, his heart skipping a beat at the beautiful love of his life, and he leaned up to kiss his forehead as well. when namjoon settled back down beside him, he pulled his phone out from under the pillow and squinted at the brightness of it.
it was 3:30 am., and he really should have been sleeping because of the amount of work he had to do the following afternoon. he shoved his phone back under the pillows and lay there on his back, staring up at the ceiling and contemplating the day ahead. of course, it took a wrong turn and he began thinking of all the things that could go wrong in his plan of action, and he began making alternative choices.
“you okay?” seokjin whispered, his hand brushing over namjoon’s arm delicately, and the younger tilted his head to look at him. when they locked eyes, it was as if all his worries were lifted, and he exhaled shakily.
“y-yeah just overthinking, babe…”, he knew he shouldn’t be telling him this, because seokjin gets really upset when namjoon doubted himself and will end up writing a five page letter expressing how mad he is after all the amazing things he’s done.
“you’re perfect,” seokjin murmured, and namjoon froze. he wasn’t expecting that.
he was genuinely blown away, and he blinked up at his boyfriend.
“i’m no-”
“i love you enough for the both of us,” jin smiled sleepily, reaching his hand out and lazily opening and closing his fist. “sleep, i’ll yell at you tomorrow.”
namjoon slid his hand into Jin’s, intertwining their fingers and then bringing it up to his mouth so he could press a kiss to the back of his hand.
“goodnight baby,” namjoon whispered, resting their hands on top of his heart and settling back into a comfortable position.
“night, jooniebear.” the younger grinned like an idiot hearing the petname they both agreed was unbearably cringy, and he let his eyes close once more.
this really was, the perfect night.
