Work Text:
The quiet hum of the bedroom was a familiar sanctuary, lit only by the golden amber glow of the bedside lamp. Outside the window of their high-rise apartment, the city’s skyline blurred into a distant gallery of twinkling neon, but inside, the world was narrowed down to just the two of them.
Xie Lian leaned back against the plush headboard of their bed, letting out a soft sigh that fluttered the loose pages of the history essays resting on her lap. It had been a grueling day at the high school. She loved her students dearly, but grading thirty individual, deeply confused takes on the socioeconomic reforms of the Tang dynasty had thoroughly drained her brain.
With a soft groan, she stacked the papers into a neat pile and slid them onto the nightstand. She was finally done with work, which meant she wanted—no, needed—to be done with being alone on her side of the mattress.
She cast a longing look across the room. At the small desk in the corner, her wife was still firmly entrenched in her own world.
San Niang sat hunched over her laptop, the screen reflecting sharply against the glass of her prescription frames. Because of her notoriously terrible eyesight, she wore the thin-rimmed glasses whenever she worked, though they had a habit of sliding down the bridge of her nose when she concentrated too hard. She was dressed in one of her signature oversized black hoodies—plush, worn-in, and smelling faintly of sandalwood—and a pair of loose gray lounge shorts.
From this angle, Xie Lian could see the soft, choppy texture of San Niang’s short, boyish dark hair. A few stubborn strands stuck up at the crown, a sight that never failed to make Xie Lian’s chest ache with tenderness. The silver glow of the monitor illuminated the striking, mismatched colors of San Niang’s eyes: her right eye a soft, stormy, ethereal gray, and her left eye a deep, ink-like black. They darted rapidly across rows of complex code, completely focused.
Xie Lian looked down at herself. Hoping to draw her wife’s attention hours ago, she had dressed in a delicate, white lace bra that hugged her frame beautifully. Over it, she had thrown on one of San Niang’s oversized white button-up shirts, leaving it completely unbuttoned so it draped lazily off her shoulders, exposing the soft curve of her collarbones. Below, she wore nothing but matching white panties.
Ever since they had gotten married, Xie Lian’s body had softened in the most beautiful way. San Niang took absolute, fierce pride in pampering her wife. Between the lavish, meticulously prepared dinners San Niang insisted on cooking and the endless supply of sweets she bought "just because," Xie Lian had gained a bit of healthy, plush weight. She had been self-conscious about it at first, but San Niang worshiped every single new inch of her, treating her body like a temple of the highest order.
Right now, however, the temple was being neglected for a software program.
"San Niangggg," Xie Lian whined softly, the sound deliberate and drawn-out as she extended her arms toward the desk.
The typing stopped instantly. It was as if Xie Lian had uttered a magic command that overrode San Niang’s entire operating system.
"All done, jiejie," San Niang murmured. Her voice was a low, soothing purr, thick with the exhaustion of a long coding session but instantly warming up at the sight of her wife. She closed the laptop with a definitive click, stretched her arms over her head, and took off her glasses for just a second to pinch the bridge of her nose before sliding them back on.
When San Niang looked over and truly took in the sight of Xie Lian—bathed in golden light, clad in white lace, with her long, glossy hair flowing over her shoulders like a river of silk—her expression melted into pure, unadulterated devotion.
San Niang didn't just walk over; she kicked off her slippers, climbed onto the foot of the mattress, and began to crawl across the blankets on all fours. She moved with the quiet, fluid grace of a sleek, dark cat, her mismatched eyes locked entirely on Xie Lian. The heavy black hoodie pooled around her as she advanced, aiming straight for the space between Xie Lian's legs to pull her into a tight, desperate cuddle.
Xie Lian’s eyes narrowed playfully. She saw her opening.
Just as San Niang’s face passed right between her knees, Xie Lian snapped her thighs shut.
Clap.
She caught San Niang perfectly, clamping her thighs tightly around her wife’s head, trapping her securely in the plush warmth of her lap.
"Ah! Jiejie?" San Niang let out a muffled, incredibly high-pitched whine.
A brilliant, dark crimson flush immediately erupted across San Niang’s pale cheeks, spreading all the way to the tips of her ears. The sudden movement sent her prescription glasses askew, leaving them crooked against her nose and trapped awkwardly against Xie Lian’s soft inner thighs. She froze mid-crawl, her hands gripping the mattress on either side of Xie Lian's hips, completely at her wife's mercy.
Xie Lian leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees and propping her chin up with her hands. A mischievous, wicked glint danced in her eyes. She deliberately shifted her weight, slowly rubbing the smooth, soft skin of her inner thighs against San Niang’s burning cheeks, purposefully jostling the frames of her glasses.
"My darling San Niang has been so incredibly naughty tonight," Xie Lian teased, her tone dripping with mock suspicion and dramatic flair. "Staring at that screen for hours and hours. Ignoring her poor wife. Tell me, San Niang... are you keeping secrets from me? Are you perhaps cheating on your jiejie with someone else? Is there another girl out there who understands your coding better than I do?"
It was a completely ridiculous accusation. San Niang’s loyalty was legendary; the woman practically left a trail of imaginary puppy footprints wherever Xie Lian went. But ever since their marriage, Xie Lian had felt safe enough to let her guard down completely. She didn't have to be the perfect, unbreakable pillar anymore. She could be vulnerable. And sometimes, when San Niang got too hogged up by her tech work, a cute, fiercely possessive streak of jealousy would flare up in Xie Lian's chest. She had learned that she rather liked expressing it.
San Niang gasped, the sound caught in her throat. Even knowing it was a playful tease, the mere suggestion of Xie Lian doubting her absolute, singular devotion made her heart practically stop.
"N-No! Jiejie, please!" San Niang stuttered wildly. Her usual cool, unbothered tech-genius confidence completely dissolved into helpless, desperate whines. She squeezed her eyes shut for a second before opening them, looking up at Xie Lian with absolute desperation through her crooked, smudged lenses. "I-I would never! There is no one else, I swear it! I don't care about anyone else! I don't love anyone but my jiejie... please, you have to believe me..."
Xie Lian’s heart melted into a warm, gooey puddle. The helpless, stuttering mess beneath her was just too endearing to bear. She couldn't hold onto the playful, stern facade for a single second longer.
Giggling softly—a bright, musical sound that filled the quiet bedroom—Xie Lian relaxed her thighs, opening her legs and releasing San Niang from the plush trap.
Before San Niang could even reach up to straighten her glasses, Xie Lian leaned down, gripped the thick lapels of the black hoodie, and pulled her wife upward with surprising strength. She hauled San Niang right into her lap.
San Niang collapsed against her willingly, burying her face straight into the crook of Xie Lian’s neck. Xie Lian wrapped her arms tightly around San Niang's shoulders, rocking her slightly as her long, pretty hair draped over both of them like a protective, silky blanket.
"I know, silly," Xie Lian whispered softly into the dark, boyish strands of San Niang's hair. She reached up, gently adjusting the crooked glasses back onto the bridge of San Niang's nose, before pressing a lingering, tender kiss to her still-flushed cheek. "I know you only love me. I was just teasing. Come here and hold me now. No more coding, okay?"
San Niang let out a long, trembling breath of pure relief. She wrapped her arms securely around Xie Lian’s waist, pulling their bodies flush together, sinking entirely into the soft comfort of her wife. She was completely content to let the rest of the world blur away, entirely ruled by her beautiful history teacher forever.
