Work Text:
“Charles, when’s the last time you ate something?” Monty asked the scientist who was bent over a spread of papers on his desk.
“Oh um… last night.”
“Last night?!”
Charles looked up at him sheepishly. “I need to get these plans finished.”
Monty shook his head and started rummaging through his desk drawer. “That simply won’t do, Charles, you need to fuel that clever little brain of yours.” Monty found what he was looking for and headed over to Charles’ desk. He made himself comfortable on the wooden surface, taking extra care not to sit on any paperwork.
Charles turned to see what Monty was doing. “Well, don’t stop now. You have...” He gestured to the documents. “Important stuff to do.”
That was all the encouragement Charles needed to sink back into his work whilst Monty carefully unwrapped the bundle he held in one hand. It contained precut pieces of cheese, leftover from a wine and cheese night he’d had with Ivor. He picked up a piece, holding it between his thumb and index finger, and pressed it lightly against Charles’ lips. The man’s body flinched ever so slightly at the contact, his eyes meeting Monty’s briefly, before he ate the cheese that was presented to him.
Monty smiled as he picked up another piece to feed his genius once more.
“Monty, I’m eating all of your cheese.” Charles pointed out a few pieces later.
He’d intended to save the cheese for when he needed a little pick up during a long work day or to refuel after an arduous meeting with Bevan, but he decided that this was a much more valuable use of his precious cheese. After all, it was vital that the brain of the operation was working with optimum efficiency. It was just a bonus that it also allowed him to stare at Charlie's mouth, no questions asked.
“I’ve had plenty. And I, unlike you, have eaten lunch today.” Monty pressed another piece of cheese to his lips and the mouth obeyed.
They continued like this for a while. Charles deeply focussed on his work, Monty deeply focused on Charles. They were both so invested in their tasks at hand that Monty almost missed it when Charles’ lips brushed his finger tip as he took the latest piece of cheese. He was so busy savouring the sensation that he’d forgotten to grab another piece and he froze when warm lips wrapped around the end of that finger. Neither of them moved and Charles raised his eyes to meet Monty’s gaze.
Monty cleared his throat. “I’m afraid you can’t eat me, Charlie, I’d be awfully bad for your digestion.” He attempted a chuckle but was too distracted by how perfect those lips looked wrapped around his finger. The lips that hadn’t moved away, even though their owner now looked like a deer caught in headlights. Interesting.
Monty tested the waters, and very slowly pushed his finger deeper, not blinking as Charles took him in. Charles’ eyes fluttered closed as Monty’s finger brushed the back of his tongue.
God he was beautiful.
Montagu felt his tongue move against the underside of his finger and he slipped it out hastily with a wet pop. “Well, it looks like you have eaten all of my cheese. Good man.”
Charles opened his eyes, his expression slightly dazed. “I uh- did say.”
Monty blinked at him, clearing his throat once more. “Yes you did.” He scrunched up the empty packaging and jumped off of the desk. “Remember to eat Charles, your country needs you! You’re of no use to anyone if you waste away down here.”
“I’ll try.” He offered Monty a small smile.
The other man simply nodded and headed in the direction of the gents. This scientist was going to be the death of him.
