There's many theories out there about what this verse means. Some think it's a reference to prostitution. Lucy, being Lucy, prefers a more innocent explanation.

Notes:

I drew Lucy and Florence in generic historic-looking clothing rather than trying to match a specific time period. Based on my limited research it seems like no one really knows for sure how old the song is anyway.
