You're Invited Into Our Hearts

Summary:

[Louis loved so many things. Legundo liked that about him, he admired how open the vampire’s heart was given his age, he knew his own had closed itself off in many ways.

“Legundo!” Louis hugged him, kissed him, then draped himself in his arms and started recalling his day. “I met a man! Oh Legundo, he was such a beautiful man!”

Legundo chuckled. “Yeah?” He prompted.

“Yes!” Louis giggled. “Hair as curly and soft as a lamb! Eyes as brown and delicious as chocolate!”

“Chocolate?” Legundo replied in amusement. Neither of them had tasted that in centuries.

“He’s an absolute treat! You should see him!” Louis purred.

The Doctor shook his head with a laugh. “He’s a newcomer?” He asked unnecessarily. There wasn’t a single person in town who matched his partner’s description. Well not, at least, with such adoration.]

Legundo and Louis had been partners for a very long time, it was an unexpected (but welcome) surprise when a third man joined their relationship.

Chapter Text

Legundo hummed, a rare smile breaking over his face as he lifted his hand and guided his partner into a spin. Louis twirled and stepped away, catching his eye and sending all his adoration through his expression before crossing the gap and settling into Legundo’s hold again.

They travelled across the dance floor, the dance floor being a small cobbled clearing that the markets left open for couples to sway in.

Louis didn’t do small gestures and Legundo was inclined to follow his example as he moved them around the space.

Louis laughed and the sound was like magic to his ears. Legundo felt delight ripple through his veins more effectively than any blood.

Louis was his life, he was more than his lover - he was his whole world.

Legundo brought him closer, their foreheads meeting and he nuzzled their noses with a swift purr. When he drew back he could see Louis’s joy shining brighter than any star. The Doctor usually reserved his affection for the privacy of their home or in the shadows of Oakhurst, but today he couldn’t contain himself, he spun Louis once more before pulling him into a lift and twirling with a laugh.

Louis’s arms opened wide and the lights of the market reflected off him. He looked every bit like the angel Legundo saw him as. His puffy blouse ruffled with the air, the red fabric looked like wings as Legundo stared up at him and admired the view.

Louis looked so good under the night sky. He looked so breathtaking when he was happy.

Legundo dodged another couple and lowered his lover to the ground. With all his heart he wanted to make Louis happy. He wanted this to last forever, he wanted Louis to have only the best.

He brushed Louis’s white hair behind his ear and stared at him in awe. How did he get so lucky as to meet him?

Louis scrunched his nose and gave him a teasing look. He knew Legundo was getting sentimental, he always did on their anniversary.

“My love.” Louis leaned forward.

Legundo answered with a kiss. He swore there were fireworks lighting up the night with bursts of colour but Oakhurst did not have the means for that yet, they were only available in the city. Legundo wanted to take Louis there one day, he wanted to watch his face as he saw the most stunning displays gunpowder and smoke could produce. They would pale in comparison to his lover but even his withered heart could admit he’d felt exhilaration the first time he witnessed them. He wanted Louis to experience that, he wanted Louis to find every pocket of joy on this Earth and feel childlike wonder again.

He pulled back and stared at Louis with soft contentment. The man’s expression hinted that he would face days of light jabs after this. He was being so uncharacteristically sappy.

“I love you.” Legundo whispered. He adored him, he admired him, Louis was so perfectly wonderful, he was the best part of his afterlife.

Louis’s arms wrapped around his neck and he smiled, softening into the moment and taking Legundo in.

“I love you too my dear.” Louis tilted his head, his eyes sparkling. “Thank you.” He said. “Thank you for all that you do for me, all that you are and all that you continue to be.” His fingers toyed with the short hairs at the nape of his neck. “You’re perfect.”

Legundo tensed, his mind immediately refuting the statement but he soon relaxed and did not breathe a word of his doubts. His partner knew… he caught Louis’s pointed look and scoffed. “Thanks for putting up with me.” He replied.

Hundreds of years… Louis chose every year to stay by his side and Legundo still couldn’t comprehend it. He’d never take this for granted.

“Are you ready to renew our vows?” He asked.

Louis nodded enthusiastically. He planted another sweet kiss on his lips then grabbed his hand to guide him away from all the people.

Oakhurst may be a wonderful home that they built together but it still faced the rise and fall of mortality. The couple was a coven of two, they always had been and they likely always would be.

Legundo followed Louis into the forest and eagerly awaited for his partner’s reaction to the picnic he’d set up in their usual spot.

Louis’s smile was worth all the meticulous planning. They settled down and whispered their vows, exchanging new rings and fresh kisses with happy purrs.

The night felt like it lasted forever, Legundo lay down, Louis resting his head on his chest as the moon moved across the sky. They exchanged stories, they brushed their hands over each other and Legundo looked forward to the next few days where they did nothing but spend time together.

As immortals they always needed to stay busy. As a couple they always needed to reconnect.

Legundo pulled Louis up to hug him tightly, the vampire yelped and chuckled, kissing his neck.

The fireflies danced in the tall grass and the cicadas sang.

Legundo was happy.
