The vibes on the stark tower, now apparently called watchtower, was confusing Apparently Steve Rogers wasn't the only one on a different universe, there was a family that said know about the origin of the current threat to the universe, and if Loki was to believe this time , the multiverse too. There was also a group of people he didn't know but seams close enough to Bucky, aside from him the only people who he knew were Thor, ant-man, and of course Sam, who was carrying the shield, seeing his friend carrying it filled him with pride
The reunion with Bucky and Sam was incredibly bittersweet, he was scared that they hadn't been accepting of his choice , they however assured him that there were no more open wounds regarding the past and although in the beginning it was hard to accept, specially for Bucky, they were now past that
Steve however sense that there were something more to the story after all the knew his friends well, of at least he used to, a part of his brain reminded him. Still there were more pressing issues than his thoughts on a life that he chose to leave
The vives continued to be tense while they all discussed how to proceed with the dr. Doom situation until a little kid of about four or five years old bust into the room demanding his dads attention, Steve did not put any attention to the scene until he saw the kid jumping into Sam's arms and Bucky immediately stop paying attention to the plan they were making to start talking to the boy
To say the least he was shocked, that shock continued until a blonde woman who he recognized as Natasha's sister yelena suggest to put a stop on the meeting to gather more information about the situation and to go back to planing after their multiversal guests as she put, have a good rest. After most of the people that were on the common room left it she made her way to the apparent couple and started to talk to them and to the kid, they all seemed to have a really close bond and that thought was confirmed when Steve heard the kid calling yelena "auntie" and asking her to see some Mr. Cucumber, in that moment buckys attention shifted from the boy to him and he realized he was staring, nat's sister took that as a clue to invite her nephew to visit what he supposed was a pet
Sam and Bucky made their way towards him and he decided to be direct and ask them about the kid, a flash of worry covered both of their faces, but them Sam told him proudly that the boy was his and bucky's son, that they adopted him when he was just months old and they found him during a mission after about a year from their wedding, that his name was Riley and was five years old, Bucky then added with a smile that their kid had actually just started kindergarten and that he hoped they could introduce Riley properly to him
Steve could not hide his happiness after learning that nor did he wanted, he asked a million different questions about their lives and about Riley that they answer with enthusiasm, he could clearly see the love and happiness on his friends. seeing Bucky like this was a relief to say the least, after talking for some time that absolutely wasn't enough to know everything about the time he lost from the life on the man he thought of as a brother, Riley came back to the room with a guinea pig in his hands and proudly let his dads know that Mr. Cucumber wanted to say hi and that auntie yelena was calling aunt Kate, after that Sam and Bucky happily introduced him to his son, in that moment he confirmed his suspicions that both of them had become great parents.
Reuniting with both his friends and learning that they had created a beautiful family together was something that Steve never thought would happen, but even with the threat of doom, he was happy and grateful to have witnessed
