Work Text:
Despite now living here, there is still much Columbina does not know about the Frost Moon. The part of her that liked to observe Sandrone as the other worked sometimes ponders what would happen if she pried apart the devices that stabilized the gravity in Ungien's Circle.
It wouldn't necessarily be hard for her to force them open, to give into her curiosity and see what the wildlife would do with the gravity changes. Columbina is not cruel enough to ever follow through on these impulses.
Human life cannot survive outside of Ungien's Circle either, so it is for the best that she does not mess with the gravity there. It's unfortunate, the fact humans must stay constrained to that one part of the Frost Moon; if she could, Columbina would take them through the skies over the Moontide Sea with Ungie and Maggie, show them the Bubble Pool in all of its soft pastels, and so much more. But she cannot, so the main priority for now is cleaning up the Circle so her friends can come visit when they like.
These days, Columbina has many friends. From Lauma to Ineffa, she has a great many people she cares for. Sometimes she wonders, 'did the dragons have their friends come visit them here?' The Frost Moon was originally home to a number of draconic research facilities— is it strange to visit a friend at their workplace when said workplace is so out of the way? This is another internal question she does not possess an answer to. There is still much about both humans and dragons she has yet to fully understand.
There are also sweet flowers on the Frost Moon. They grow much larger than the ones back on Teyvat, yet another thing scaled down for humans over the course of history. It is interesting to consider that, in another life, Columbina might have possessed a draconic form far larger than her current, more human body— that human-sized sweet flowers might seem as small as what a blade of grass currently is to her.
The sweet flowers are not the only things that are larger on the Frost Moon compared to Teyvat. Some of the Kuuhenki are as well, rotund like Midsommar Berries or Ashru when he eats too much. Such Kuuhenki are varying shades of teal and black, wholly different from the kind back in Nod-Krai. Perhaps it is because these Kuuhenki are not born of her power, or due to the Blackbody Matter that led to their creation. Columbina finds them cute and cares for them nonetheless. That, and they remind her of Ninnin.…would Ninnin become friends with Luonnotar, if they ever met? That is yet another question she will never have an answer to.
Well, considering that Luonnotar is (was?) her, maybe in the hypothetical life where she is dragon-sized, Columbina would have been friends with Nin-Kiggia— would have perhaps stumbled across and conversed with her. Maybe they would have talked about their families, how both of them were 'created' rather than 'born' and… actually, Columbina's not sure. She's never exactly been a particularly vocal or conversational person.
No matter. For now, she should focus on the present and finish up cleaning this area. She can entertain such musings later.
…still, what would happen were she to deactivate the gravity, just for a bit?
