“Cover you with my wings”
My love, whenever we have a day like this,
I wish I could cover you with my wings.
Just keep you close, with no attached strings,
And onto your beautiful head place a kiss.
I'd love to take you, hide from the world,
Behind a wall of feathers and dreams,
Away from the stress, troubles and screams;
And for that, I would leave them unfurled.
To give you some rest, to give you some peace,
Allow you to breathe, warm and content.
The outside noise would have no consent
To intrude, I'd make sure of it. I‘d be your police.
Yes, I would do it. I would keep you safe,
I’d let you rest within this feathery fort,
Being your reprieve, being your port,
I would protect you from reality’s strife.
And I would hold you, however long you want,
Because there, between the feathers and hope,
I'd hold something of such important scope-
You, My world. And I’m your faithful servant.
