Work Text:
Lilith was no stranger to luxury, or, at least, how she knew it back in Ru'aun. Where the lords could own the most beautiful manor and silks and still be expected to ensure their citizens would have the same.
The Phoenix Capitol took it a step further.
She could remember her mother in armour and prepared to lose her life and bleed before any of her guards in her stead.
The bastard on the throne who had his mind and heart set on conquering Ru'aun was by far the most disgraceful.
She still feels the taste of rocks and dust as she was dragged to her cell, seeing the now empty throne disappearing above the ceiling.
She could almost be certain that the bells knelling in her ears were for her.
The cuts from the rocks are still scattered throughout her body.
She can still hear the drunken chatter from up in the chambers.
They never shut up, always on about something day and night
Her sides still throb.
Despite the protests of her body, she stands and leans on the bars, looking outside where guards are posted.
She can see her sword, discarded now.
If it had been up to her, she would have plunged the damn thing in her chest during the first game and been done with it.
Closest she can get to spitting in their faces anyways.
Alina wouldn't survive.
The kid still chokes up at the sight of blood.
If they aren't tort...
If they aren't hurting her they will if Lilith was that stupid.
And who would lead the troops?
Who would settle the plans?
Who would Alina lean on?
Who would Levin talk to?
Who would stop Dmitri from being an idiot?
Not to mention she wanted to
live.
To live, survive and come back for his head.
To-
The rattling of kingsmen armour interrupts her thoughts, as guards change their posts.
Do they hear the endless chatter too?
Are any of them ashamed?
Are any of them disgusted by the indulgent court like Lilith was, hiding behind their own gold and robes?
What would they think of themselves now?
Slaves, almost?
What would mother think of her now?
Shaking these thoughts away, she turns to her "bed."
The Tu'alans, for all of their talk and jeering about her as their "honoured guest," have given her a wooden plank, maybe with some hard rope around it.
She probably gained more scars from that than from her fights.
The rope keeps cutting into her skin.
She tried to check the guards, their schedule, anything that could help her and Alina escape.
The fights just leave her so-
She lets out a gasp of pain, bending over the bed.
The bandage around her hand is red again.
Even then, she just wants to rest.
A healer is supposed to be here soon anyways.
Just close her eyes, just for a bit.
