Summary
He'd been at the Department of Mysteries, watching his godfather fall through the Veil, while Lucius Malfoy was being arrested and sent to Azkaban. He hadn't known then what that meant. Hadn't understood that the Black family magic, ancient and powerful and seeking, would find its next vessel in Draco Malfoy.
Hadn't known that the Malfoy family magic would do the same, reaching for Draco the moment Lucius passed through Azkaban's wards and could no longer hold the Lordship.
Two family magics, slamming into a fifteen-year-old witch at the same time.
It should have killed her.
Instead, it had put her in a coma.
Family magic normally settled into its vessel over months, sometimes years. One inheritance at a time was manageable. Two at once was catastrophic.
And then Snape had died.
Snape, who had blood-adopted Draco at the end of fourth year when Voldemort returned. Snape, who had probably thought he was protecting her, giving her resources and power for the war to come.
Snape, whose death had sent a third family magic crashing into Draco's already-overwhelmed body.
Lady Malfoy. Lady Black. Lady Prince.
