Truth or Dare

Summary:

Beach AU where Taehyung and Jimin are best friends who are dumb enough to take any dare imagined by their bored minds. Their game of truth or dare might kill one of them or it’ll lead to a great summer, chances are tied.

Notes:

Where I live is summer and I'm currently at the beach so yeah.
I wrote this a few months ago but I kind of forgot about it (? and now I finished it!
Anyways, English is not my mother tongue so please be patient!
If you like it leave kudos & comments ♥

Work Text:

"Truth or dare." Jimin said for the eleventh time that day.

It was their thing. Since holidays started all was based on the "truth or dare" game.

They would pick dare 9.9/10 times just to make things more interesting because everyone knows truth is boring. And, if you are playing with your best friend, there aren’t truths you don't know already.

"Dare." Taehyung said.

Of course, he chose dare.

Usually, their dares were incredibly stupid or dangerous and, most of the times, just both.

That's how Jimin ended up dying his hair of a shiny orange which was already starting to fade at the difference of the beginning of summer.

Tae got a few green stripes between his locks because he couldn't resist the challenge.

Jimin got a tattoo on his back and a new piercing he didn't say where.

Tae drank a whole bottle of tequila and puked on his aunt's wedding, just after making a mess with the cake.

And how to forget the time he got his head stuck in a fence just because Jimin said he couldn't do it? Well, he actually said that he shouldn’t do that but Taehyung accepted as a challenge. (It took two and a half hours to the fireman to free him).

Both of them agreed to do things they usually won't in any other circumstances, in the end, it was for the game. And both of them were really bad losers.

Otherwise, Jimin wouldn't have played bowling in the supermarket with cereal boxes.

Or Tae wouldn't have open all the gates in the pet store while playing 'Who Let the Dogs Out?' on his phone.

Oh, summer was so funny.

They were at the beach, the sun was warm and even the water of the ocean was too hot to dive in.

During the last two hours they'd been doing all sort of silly challenges, including Tae getting his swimsuit full of crabs -living crabs- and Jimin letting him cover his entire body with sand making the boy all itchy for the rest of the day.

Jimin came back from the waves after taking all -or most- of the sand out of his body. Both of them were already tanned of spending their days under the sunlight, their bodies were covered under a natural golden glow that made them look like a pair of models.

"You can't blame me," Tae said. "those crabs were very, very, very angry." The younger was hoping he had got rid of all of them; otherwise, the surprise wouldn’t be nice.

"It was their way to show you their affection." Jimin laughed at loud bringing back the memory of Tae's face when one of them 'bit him'. “I think I still have sand somewhere inside my swimsuit.” He shook himself once more looking like a dog after a bath.

The good thing about the beach is that there isn’t another place like that. All beaches are different and they have their particularities and sceneries, waves don’t crash the same in two beaches. So far, that was their favorite one, not fully crowded like those places where you can’t place a sun umbrella without bumping into someone’s stuff, or a desert where not even the lifeguard is around.

That beach had thick sand, perfect to build sandcastles –or buried someone in case you were asking-; the waves were from a solid teal color, like the ones you see in the Caribbean. Sun shone brightly in the middle of the blue sky, no clouds to be seen.

“Alright, well...” Jimin thought about a good one after finishing his drying session. He smirked maliciously.

“Oh God, not that smirk.” Taehyung knew him well enough to know that at that moment, he fucked up.

The elder scanned the beach quickly. It was almost empty in this area in particular and there were just a few people around sunbathing or swimming in the sea. Still, he had an idea.

"You have to kiss the next person who comes close here." Judging by Taehyung’s expression, he was right. It was a good one indeed.

Taehyung pouted "Oh come on! There's no one here who's younger than forty! Chimchim!" He sounded almost desperate what made his friend enjoy the moment even more.

“You know, you can always admit your defeat.” Jimin said casually, testing him.

That was not even in the table to discuss. None of them had rejected any dare since the game started and he wasn't going to be the first to throw the towel.

“No way. It's on, bitch.”

He stood up and got closer to the sea to analyze his options. With his hands on his waist, he discovered they weren't promising at all. Standing there he almost looked like an actor of Baywatch, he even lifted his hand above his eyes to have a better vision.

There was a couple of elders who were walking in their direction but they were too slow to be there anytime soon, plus he wasn't going to kiss an old person who was married. He could always ask one child a kiss on the cheek, kids loved him. Unfortunately, the ones he had seen earlier seemed to be taking a nap.

Next, it was this super creepy dude who kept running topless with his bouncing man boobs, a lot of white chest hair and a small, tiny, tiny neon swimsuit. And that haircut of "business at the front, party at the back" that should have been forbidden for humanity's good.

When he saw the man coming closer he started to panic, Jimin was laughing out his ass at Tae's scared expression.

Taehyung joined his hands together. He had never been religious but at that moment he could have recited the entire Bible. “Please God if I've ever made something good in my life please don't let me...”

“Excuse me, uh... I was...”

And without thinking twice he kissed that boy, anything was better than the sweaty runner. He kissed him and all suddenly felt a warm sensation on his tummy, and it wasn’t due sunburn for sure, it was different. It was because of that boy. He tasted like watermelons and sunscreen. He tasted like summer love.

Taehyung was happily surprised when he separated his lips from the boy's, and kind of sad it was over. He blinked a few times just to make sure his imagination wasn't fooling him around.

That boy was cute, and hot, in a way that those qualities go together hand to hand. He had dark brown hair and an adorable bunny face but... Surprise! The bunny had abs and thighs to die for. He had to thank Jimin later.

“I... I'm...” The boy tried to say after being released.

“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you or something.” Tae played his best card showing his boxy smile. “I'm Taehyung.”

“I'm Jeongguk.” He blushed and it was the prettiest thing in the world.

“You're a good kisser, Jeongguk.” Jeongguk blushed harder.

“Yes, you too... I mean... I was... My whole family is there and I was going to ask if you boys wanted to join our volleyball team but this was better.” Jeongguk seemed to be about to bury his head in the sand like an ostrich.

“Your whole what?" Taehyung peeked behind Jeongguk's head.

A bunch of people waved towards his direction. There were two couples of adults, a few children and even a pair of grandparents.

“Are those your grandparents?” Taehyung gulped.

“Yep.” Jeongguk waved back at them.

Taehyung could feel his cheeks getting hotter than the sun while he stared back at Jimin and back to Jeongguk's family, waving at them. One of Jeongguk's little cousins made fun of him kissing the air.

“I'm going to kill him.” The younger murmured.

Taehyung still wanted to drown himself in the ocean, and it started to look like an attractive option from his perspective.

“I'm sorry. I really am.” He covered his face with his hands.

“Are you sorry because you kissed me or because my family saw you?” Jeongguk asked with a flirty tone.

“Oh! Because your family saw me, of course. I told you, you're a really good kisser and I wasn't joking.”

Jeongguk's smile was more beautiful than a thousand of summer days and a million of suns.

“I'm not good at playing volleyball but, if you want to, you can join me and my friend Jimin for the evening. We brought marshmallows and booze, but you don’t have to tell your parents the last part.”

“It's our family vacation so I'm not sure if they're going to let me just run away with a boy I just met and kissed me before I could even say hi.”

Taehyung was so disappointed that his entire face went down.

“You could tell them this is how we say hello here.” Jeongguk laughed again, his laugh and the ocean waves matched perfectly into a symphony.

“I guess...” Jungkook said and the hope was back. “If I can convince my cousin to come with us I wouldn't be alone and his family.” he said pointing back at a green haired boy who was reading under the parasol.

“Consider it done.” And Jungkook flashed a last big smile making him melt down like ice cream.

Taehyung ran back to Jimin splitting sand all over their towels. The orange haired boy was in disbelief.

“I swear you're a lucky son of...”

“Truth or dare" Tae said.

“What? Did you just...?” Jimin looked confused.

“Truth or dare!”

“Dare!” Jimin picked.

And Taehyung smiled in the same way Jimin did earlier.

15 minutes before

Yoongi was reading his book quietly when he put it down to take a sip of juice. It was damn hot. He had started hating the beach since day two.

He disliked the sunburns and the fact he had to use a +50 sunscreen like a baby. He didn’t like the sticky feel of his skin after swimming in the sea; he wasn’t a fan of salty water on his nose. He hated the sand all over his clothes and the seagulls stealing his food.

But that day things seemed to be a little bit more interesting. Rather tolerable.

He stared at his younger cousin Jeongguk, laughing at some goofy dorks who were doing stupid stuff not so far from them.

One of the boys was laughing on the floor when he finished covering the other with sand. And then stood up to take a hundred pictures with his phone.

“Hyung, you're missing it!” Said the younger. “The cute one made the short sing the Piña colada song at loud.”

“I'm not interested in dumb and dumber. And what's that of the 'cute' one and the 'short' one?" Yoongi kept staring at those dorks.

"Well, the one with green reflects is hot, what can I say? And the other one... it's not that he's short... He must be about your height now that I think about it."

Yoongi watched how the 'short' one ran to the ocean with his body full of sand. Idiot n# 2 couldn't stop laughing.

But then, idiot n# 1 came back from his swim and holy shit.

It was like a god emerging from the waves with his tanned skin, orange hair and perfect six pack.

A fly could enter inside Yoongi's mouth at any moment if he didn't shout it.

"Jungkook, let’s play volleyball.”

"We don’t have enough players and we didn’t even bring the volleyball today." The younger said.

"Well... You know that and I know that. But they don’t."

Jungkook raised an eyebrow in understanding and then stood up and walked towards their direction.

Min Yoongi genius struck again.
