“Steve?” Bucky asked one night, as they were both seated on Steve’s couch, watching some random show on the TV. It had been a quiet day, but Steve could feel that something was on his friend’s mind.
Steve hummed, turning towards Bucky, giving him a soft smile.
“What’s up?”
“Did we used to…you know, be a thing back then?”
Steve coughed awkwardly, now avoiding Bucky’s gaze. He should have known Bucky would ask eventually!
“Well?” pressed Bucky, though he now had a small smirk on his lips.
“We did yeah.” said Steve softly. “But uh…I’m fine with what we have now!! So, like no pressure if you don’t feel the same way anymore. I’d understand.”
“Who said I didn’t feel the same way anymore?” said Bucky, leaning closer to his friend (boyfriend?), his smile even wider now.
“I don’t know? I just don’t want you to feel like you owe it to me or something” Steve shrugged.
“Shut up” grumbled Bucky, and then, softer, “I wouldn’t mind starting over with you.”
“Really?” smiled Steve.
Bucky nodded, and closed the gap and kissed Steve, hearing a small noise of surprise coming from Steve’s throat, before being kissed back avidly.
