Aigis was a stranger to the many things that made a human. She knew what touch felt like, she could smell all sorts of sensations, she could see the world as if she were a human.
But there were many things she'd never understand.
One of them was the horrors of being sick. She had heard stories from scientists back at the Kirijo Laboratory. She had seen it before as well. Sometimes the engineers had to work despite their ailments. However, this wasn't the Kirijo Laboratory.
This was her humble home which she lived in with her currently sick Girlfriend, Kotone Shiomi.
"What are your symptoms?" Aigis asked, leaning down to hold Kotone tightly. She melted into the touch and connection like she always did. That was good. Aigis felt relief at that. One of the many things she had realized she could feel in recent years.
"Sore throat," Kotone mumbled before coughing. "Cough."
"I see," Aigis began coming through databases. "I shall prepare you warm tea with honey then." She decided, pulling away from Kotone. But she detected something suddenly. Her sensors picked up on it. Snot running down from Kotone's nose. "Are there any other symptoms to worry about?"
"Chest feels all icky," She groaned, shaking her head before trying to breathe and- "Runny nose."
"Then I will also bring a warm towel," Aigis decided at that moment, nodding before pulling away entirely(Kotone's whine was what one would call adorable. And of course, it was one of the many already recorded noises deep in Aigis' internal hard drives. It was just too cute) before turning to exit the room.
The very first thing she went to do was go toward the kitchen and grab the kettle. Then Aigis turned the tap on, filling the kettle with water before putting it on to boil. As soon as she did that, she went for a teabag from their cupboard and their bottle of honey.
All she needed to do was wait for the water to boil.
However, there was more for her to do.
Aigis opened one of the counter's drawers, reaching for a towel and turning on the water once more. She put her hand under the running water until it reached 50C. Then she ran the towel under it, soaking the towel until it was steaming.
The Gynoid switched off the water, and whilst the Kettle was still going, she returned to Kotone.
"'Gis..." She smiled weakly. "You're the best."
Aigis smiled back, the emotions that she felt were always what one would describe as incredible. She had what Kotone had once described as butterflies in her stomach. Of course, she did not have butterflies in her stomach.
But the phrase was one that Kotone had said, so she assumed it applied here.
"I am simply doing what I should do as your partner," Aigis leaned down, going in for a hug, she knew Kotone loved her hugs. But suddenly Aigis was pulled closer and into a kiss. It was unexpected, but Aigis did not dare pull away.
She leaned into it. For a few seconds, there was a wonderful blissful feeling in her chest as they kissed.
But good things could not last forever.
The Kettle began boiling, letting out its song with a whir. And Aigis pulled away, eliciting another whine from Kotone. She was too cute. "I will be back in a moment. Put the towel over your face as that will help with your sinuses."
"Okay!" Kotone did immediately. "It's so steamy- so icky!"
"Then it is working." With that, the Robot Girl left the room, making it to the kettle in seconds(perhaps, she ran too hard. Kotone may berate her over the scuff marks on their floor later. They were not rolling in cash, despite their work with Mitsuru.) and taking it off the heat.
It was an acceptable level of heat.
Aigis reached for a cup, grabbing the tea bag and putting it inside the cup before pouring a cup's worth of water inside. Once that was done, she reached for the bottle of honey and squeezed in one teaspoon.
As soon as she mixed, she left again. The tea bag needed to steep.
An internal timer was set however. One for three minutes.
She went back to Kotone, watching as she took the towel off her face and smiled at her, her nose was not running anymore. Of course it would not last, but Aigis was prepared to reheat the towel as many times as it took.
"The tea is steeping. It will be a few minutes," Aigis explained.
"Hug," Was all that Kotone responded with, holding her arm's out. Aigis was there in a second, and Kotone pulled her down into a hug, back onto the bed. "You're so warm..." She let out a sigh, moving down to position her head in Aigis' neck. "I could be here all day! I looooove it so much."
Aigis' face was red. She knew that already however. She could think of every reason why.
Kotone was just too cute.
"I will have to go in approximately one minute and fifty four seconds," Despite that, Aigis wrapped her arms around Kotone. Kotone looked up at her, pouting with her cheeks puffed out. "I will return with your tea and once you drink it all, then we can cuddle more."
"Good," Kotone let herself sink into Aigis once more, letting out a fond sigh. "I really did mean it! You're just that incredible. You give the best cuddles."
"Who else have you cuddled with?" Aigis immediately asked, perhaps holding Kotone a twinge more protectively.
"Just you," Kotone giggled. "Silly Aigis."
"I see," Her grip didn't loosen in the slightest. She wouldn't let it loosen yet. They still had 48 seconds to go. Why would she let go early? "Then does that also make me the worst person you have cuddled with."
"Hmmm," Kotone scooted herself up, placing a kiss on Aigis' cheek. "Nah." She was close, Aigis could feel the warmth of her skin. It was close. So close. She liked it being that close though, she wanted to be as close to Kotone as possible. "If you were, then I'd wanna cuddle with other people. But no one can compete with your amazingness as my incredible girlfriend."
"I'm not as amazing as you are," Aigis knew that as a fact. But Kotone's frown told the gynoid that she was not happy. "I apologise."
"Good. Because you are! We're just as amazing, okay? We're not better than each other," Kotone went back to resting her face in the crook of Aigis' neck. "You complete me and I complete you."
Aigis could truly say that Kotone Shiomi was the love of her life. If Kotone had died, Aigis was not sure if she would ever move on. She was the kindest, most incredible woman ever and that was just simply fact.
But of course, Aigis did not have a response to that, instead her face went red. And Kotone looked up, smiling at the sight.
"You're redder than the tomatoes we used to grow back at the dorms... apart from the ones Junpei grew with us," Kotone giggled before coughing again suddenly- And Aigis remembered the tea. SHe was roughly 2 minutes late to collecting the tea.
"I do not want you to move. But I need to go collect your tea," Aigis said before placing an arm under Kotone's back, just below her arms. And another went under her knee's. Then the Gynoid pushed herself up, carrying Kotone with her bridal style. "It will be good for you to move around."
"Oh uh-" Kotone sputtered, coughing in between words a few times. "Am I a princess?"
"A princess is typically a royal family member. You are not one," Aigis began as the two walked(Aigis was much slower than last time. She did not want to risk hurting Kotone at all). "You are far more precious and valuable than a princess."
"Aren't you just a charmer," Kotone's arms were around Aigis' neck suddenly and she pulled herself close, kissing the blonde girl once before pulling away. "Well, I can't knight you technically! But you're better than a knight. You're better than a princess too!"
"Thank you," Aigis held her with one arm suddenly, now that Kotone was holding her. Aigis sat down, reaching for the teacup before holding it toward Kotone. "Would you like to drink it yourself or do you want me to hold the cup for you?"
"Hold it hold it!" Kotone chanted, holding herself closer to Aigis. "I wanna keep holding onto you like this."
"I see," She held the cup at Kotone's lips. "Drink. It should be warm enough to soothe your throat without burning now" Kotone drank the liquid rapidly, gulping it down like a woman possessed. That phrase did make sense to Aigis at least.
She had seen several movies with Kotone and the rest of SEES.
"Do you feel any better now?" Aigis asked, taking the cup away and placing it down. There was no noise. "Is your throat still sore?"
"Better... still sore," Kotone mumbled, cuddling close to Aigis. "Can we go back to bed for a bit?"
"Of course dear," Aigis nodded, already moving.
Soon, the two were back in bed together. Kotone immediately did her best to cuddle as much into Aigis as possible, and Aigis did her best to accommodate that. She hugged Kotone close, putting the covers over her and making sure she was comfortable.
"'Night sunshine..." Kotone mumbled, closing her eyes.
"Good night, my love."
It was still daytime. Roughly 1:43 in the afternoon. Aigis knew it was around lunch time, and soon she would wake Kotone up so she could eat. Aigis had been getting lessons from Fuuka, so she knew her cooking would be good(At least, Kotone said it was good).
But Aigis was always enamoured with Kotone's beauty. She looked like an angel.
Sometimes Aigis wondered if Kotone was indeed an angel.
The way the light shone on her face. The way her hair was splayed out. How soft her skin was whenever Aigis brushed her fingers across her Girlfriend's cheek. The soft snores which she tended to fall asleep to herself.
It was all beautiful.
But unfortunately, Kotone had to be woken up. Aigis did so by gently shaking her, and as soon as her eyes fluttered open she placed a kiss on her lips. Kotone let out a weak joyous mumble. Aigis could not decipher the meaning.
"It is time for lunch," Aigis announced, though her voice was still quiet. "What would you like me to cook?"
"Eggs," Kotone responded. "Eggs and... all our bacon." She decided, grinning with a trail of saliva appearing from her mouth. "I'm hungyyyyyyy!"
"I know," Aigis pushed herself away, and Kotone let her go. "I will be back shortly."
"Thank you sunshine... you're the best," Kotone sat up, stretching and letting out a yawn. "Can you make me some juice as well? Ooh ooh! Slice of pie, I know we have some left!" Kotone began drooling a bit before shaking her head. "Pleaseeeeee!"
She was already going to do so.
Aigis would never say no. Especially when her girlfriend was as adorable as Kotone was. But that only served to make Aigis' resolve stronger. She had to prepare the best meal possible for her girlfriend now, lest she be disappointed.
That would be the worst possible outcome.
"Please remain patient," With that said, Aigis left for the kitchen again. When she got there, the very first thing she did was place the old dishes from before into the sink. Aigis set a reminder for herself. She would wash them later. But for now, she had greater goals in mind.
The gynoid grabbed four eggs and a whole back of bacon from the fridge. And the very first thing she did was reach for a tray, placing Aluminum foil over it to keep it from getting dirty. And then she placed the bacon over it. The entire pack.
It went into the oven at the appropriate temp.
Then came the eggs.
First, butter went into the pan. It was how Kotone herself liked to start her own eggs. It was unsalted butter. The eggs were next. Aigis cracked them perfectly into the pan, letting them fall into the butter. The whites would crisp up.
Aigis let them cook for a bit, checking on the bacon periodically. In the meantime, she ensured they did indeed have juice and a slice of pie remaining. Fortunately, they did. And thus there would be no surprise visits to the store or asking fellow members of SEES for aid today.
As soon as the eggs were nearly done, Aigis seasoned them. Salt, pepper, a bit of onion powder. And then she placed a lid over the top. The top would cook just enough and leave the yolk runny. Kotone would be pleased.
At least, Aigis hoped so.
When lunch was ready, Aigis brought it on a tray. She got a better look at Kotone's features upon seeing her sitting up. She had her hair loosely put up at this point. It was not perfect. But the imperfections were cute. Her face was slightly red because of sickness, but her features brightened upon seeing Aigis. Something that always succeeded in making Aigis feel butterflies. And finally, Kotone now had on her normal, casual clothing instead of sleepwear.
"You made all that for me?" Kotone smiled brightly as Aigis placed the tray down, sitting across Kotone. "You're too kind, Aigis."
"You requested it. I was more than happy to prepare it for you," Aigis smiled before suddenly Kotone grabbed a piece of bacon and shoved it toward Aigis. "I made this for you. I do not need sustenance like you do, Kotone."
"Aigis, eat the food! I wanna feed you." And, Aigis couldn't say no. Kotone was simply too adorable, the sparkle in her eye as she asked that was irresistable. She took a bite out of the bacon and Kotone took the rest of the strip, eating it for herself and smiling, practically melting as she too tasted the flavors. "So?"
"Bacon is quite fatty and salty. It is as you would say; delicious," She had tasted many things by now. A lot of things, actually. Various upgrades through the years had allowed her to experience more and more human things.
Like how wonderful food was.
"Yep yep," Kotone then picked up an entire egg with chopsticks. Careful balancing and years of practice allowed her to pick it up without it being damaged in any way. It was impressive, as even Aigis couldn't do such a thing. "Now eat!"
Aigis opened her mouth wide and took in the whole egg. "The yolk is the most notable part. The white is crispy, I can taste the butter as well. But the yolk is runny, salty, peppery. It is also delicious." Kotone's smile at hearing that was something she treasured every time.
"Great!" She popped open the yolk, dipping a piece of bacon into it and then taking a bite. Then she did it again, pointing it at Aigis. Once again, Aigis took a bite. The sensations combined. The bacon flavor combined with the yolk. "It's better with other stuff like toast- but I didn't want toast today. I've gotta make it for you sometime actually!"
"That would be wonderful," Aigis nodded, smiling widely. It was hard not to smile. "I would suggest finishing your food quickly. It will get cold soon. Or warm, in your pie's case."
Kotone's eyes widened in horror.
"You're right! We've gotta finish it!" She grabbed another strip of bacon and stuffed it down her throat. Then another and another, it was truly impressive. The speed she moved would likely kill weaker people.
It would definitely kill Junpei.
Kotone kept pushing food toward Aigis, and she kept eating it. And the two worked together to finish their lunch. It was a delicious lunch, Aigis felt quite proud of herself. But the important thing was how happy Kotone looked. Especially as they finished.
"Come on-" She reached for Aigis. "Come closer, I wanna smooch! Kiss the cook! You need a reward for all your hard work today!"
Aigis moved toward Kotone, pulling her in and giving her a kiss. She pulled back, watching as Kotone blushed with a scandalized look on her face before taking the tray and taking a step back. She would wash the dishes now rather than later. It would save time.
But, Kotone did not seem to see that logic.
"I was supposed to kiss you!" Aigis' smile grew wider as Kotone tried to pull herself toward Aigis. "No- don't leave yet! You need payment! I can't just let you go like this!" She coughed, reaching toward Aigis- and Aigis' heart melted. She placed the tray down on their bed before letting Kotone pull her down into a deep kiss. Heat filled her cheeks as Kotone went deep, pulling Aigis as close as she could.
It felt like she was trying to suck Aigis' tongue from her skull at times. The kiss felt like it went on for eternity as well. A wonderful eternity that was unfortunately too short and Aigis was forced to watch as Kotone laid back down, having exhausted herself.
"There..." She took a deep breath, huffing in and out to try and get oxygen back into her lungs. "You've done so much for me already today... I couldn't just let you go with nothing sunshine."
There was a pause.
"Sunshine?"
"I shall go wash the dishes now," Aigis sped off, taking the tray with her and feeling heat rise up in her chest. She truly loved Kotone. Only she could make her feel things like this. But Aigis unfortunately had to be responsible. She could kiss Kotone more later.
However, now she had duties.
She would kiss Kotone later.
It was later. And unfortunately, she was not kissing Kotone.
However, Aigis was still happy with her current predicament. Together with her girlfriend, she was on the couch. Together they were wrapped up in a nice fuzzy blanket that she had suggested they ordered last week.
As it turns out, it was a great thing.
"Thanks for taking care of me today, Aigis..." Kotone was leaning in close, snuggling with Aigis as best as she could. It was acceptable to Aigis. Though, any amount of Kotone was acceptable. Despite that, she always wanted more. "I've been thinking about something."
"What have you been thinking about?" Aigis asked, turning to look at Kotone- she did not care for the movie they were currently watching anyways. Kotone took higher priority. Especially with the way she was looking at her.
Total love, total devotion. She did not care about the movie either it seemed.
That was fine.
"Us," Kotone immediately held Aigis tighter. "You're such a wonderful girl, sunshine." Her smile lit up Aigis' world. Sunshine was a far more appropriate nickname for Kotone, but she had always said it was her nickname. "I wanna be with you forever."
"I want to be with you forever as well Kotone." They knew they'd one day part. Aigis would possibly live for a lot longer than Kotone. Or perhaps she wouldn't. Either way, they would meet up together again eventually.
But hearing the words made something in her Papillion heart set itself on fire and scream happily. Aigis could already feel heat rising up into her face as Kotone smiled at her.
"I know I know... but I was thinking about making it more official," She let go, and let head fall onto Aigis’ lap, just so she could look up at the robot girl. "I don't have a ring or anything. But... I wanna take care of you forever, and I want you to take care of me like this forever!"
A ring?
Steam slowly began exhausting from her exhaust ports.
That could only mean one thing.
One singular thing.
"Will you marry me, Sunshine?" Kotone asked, reaching her hands up to grab Aigis by the face. They looked into each other's beautiful sparkling eyes, and Aigis just knew she didn't even need to think. She would be deranged as they say.
Marriage was about as sacred of a thing as there was for a relationship. Besides possibly children, of course. But before they could even think about that, this would be the logical step. Aigis had long since considered asking Kotone. But...
Hearing Kotone herself ask, with that special spark in her eyes.
"Of course," She gently took Kotone off her lap, placing her in a laying position. "Forgive me for this."
"For wha-" Kotone was surprised by the burst of air as Aigis began sprinting around their apartment, steam coming from her exhaust ports as she let out an excited scream that even Igor could hear in the Velvet Room.
All before stopping in front of Kotone.
"YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES-" She was burning at this point practically, but her face was still cool enough, same with her hands. And she grabbed Kotone, pulling her into a kiss. One just as deep and intimate as their one earlier was.
Kotone was eventually let go, and she was in a daze as she gasped for air.
"OF COURSE I'LL MARRY YOU!" Aigis threw herself into Kotone's arms then, and all Kotone could do was hug her. Hug her tightly and laugh, even though she still was gasping for air.
"You-" Tighter, Aigis could feel Kotone's heart pounding. She could feel it so close to her own heart. "-You did all that-" Kotone gasped for air, but she didn't let Aigis go at all. "-I love you so much. That was... that was great!"
When she let Aigis go back, the two stared into each other's eyes.
"I love you," Kotone said, her tone far lighter, her words coming far slower as the two stared deep into each other's souls. "Please do that again, that was hot."
"The kiss or the running?"Aigis asked, ready to do either or. Because her girlfriend(FIANCEE!) was perfect and she would do anything and everything to make her as happy as she possibly could.
"The kiss you-" Kotone couldn't finish.
Because as soon as she said the word, the two kissed again. A much gentler one before Aigis pulled back, gently holding Kotone's face.
"I did not forget you were sick," She began, smiling as she took in the little notes- the way there was a bit of snot running down her nose, the way her face was just so red. Both from her illness and previous lack of oxygen. But her beautiful eyes were what Aigis loved the most. They used to be so hollow. But... the two had come a long way. "How do you feel now, my love?"
Kotone's mischievous grin was telling.
"Like the luckiest gal in the world. Now kiss me again, Sunshine!-"
