Because there she is—sitting on the floor of this sweltering, stuffy attic, sweating buckets as she’s pinned in place by the pretty girl on her lap who’s hardly wearing any clothes at all. If she keeps fawning over just how gorgeous and alluring Mydei is, she’s just going to combust.
When Mydei comes home for the summer hoping to rekindle an old friendship, it becomes adamantly clear that Phainon has something very different in mind.

“What is it?” Mydei asks warily.
Cipher’s grin widens into something almost manic.
“I want you both to fake date each other to advertise this show.”

Summary
“Glad to see you back among the living,” Phainon says through a yawn, clearly having spent the night in the uncomfortable chair in the infirmary by Mydei’s side. Like he often does.
Mydei’s head hurts. Just the regular kind of pain, easily managed by ignoring it until it goes away. But what makes it worse, is the confusion at his predicament. The memories returning to him in death used to vary in time and people who appeared in them. Why is it always Phainon nowadays?
“Fuck you,” Mydei says, hoarsely. He feels like he is losing his mind.
Phainon’s mouth locks mid-yawn and he blinks down at him stupidly, tilting his head with confusion. It’s probably fair, he hasn’t even done anything to earn Mydei’s ire as of late.
or; Human brain lives for a few more minutes after dying, replaying the most cherished memories. Mydei starts seeing Phainon after each of his deaths.

Mydei isn't the romantic type. He's never thought of it as a problem, but is he really that bad at it that even his own friends have no faith in him? He's not that hopeless... is he?
Well. It won't stop him from trying his best, not when there's a wager at stake. A year ago, before taking their relationship long-distance, he and Phainon made a bet to try to be more romantic than the other. He's spent a year preparing gifts for when they next meet up, when the contents of their gifts will decide who's the winner. It's now nearly time for their reunion.
