‘Hikaru’ was biking to Yoshiki’s house. It quite early in the morning, after all it was a school day. ‘Hikaru’ didn’t mind the cold all too much. Sure, it was mid-winter, but the temperature didn’t affect ‘Hikaru’ all too well.
As ‘Hikaru’ came to the front door of the Tsujinkas’ residence. But there was no Yoshiki in sight… how odd.
‘Hikaru’ knocked on the door three times. He waited outside, swaying back and forth on his feet.
After a short amount of time Yoshiki’s mum answered the door.
“Oh, Hikaru?” She said.
“Mornin’, Mrs. Tsujikna!” Replied ‘Hikaru’ cheerfully. “Where is Yoshiki?”
“Oh,” Her face pulled into a slight frown. “He’s got a terrible fever, afraid he can’t come to school.”
“What?!” Cried ‘Hikaru.’
“I know, but he’s being treated with the right medicine.”
“No way!” ‘Hikaru’s’ chirpy demeanour quickly soured.
“But besides the point, you must go to school now!” Scolded Yoshiki’s mum.
“Naw! I can’t go to school if he’s like this,” Said ‘Hikaru’. “If he’s sick, I’m taking care of ‘im!”
“…No you shouldn’t—“
“Relax ma’am! I don’t get sick easily.”
“But—“
“I’ll help ya take care of ‘im!”
“…I suppose. Go tell your mum though. And come back in warmer clothes! You’ll freeze to death!”
“Aye aye, ma’am!” ‘Hikaru’ flashed her a toothy grin before quickly biking off back to his house.
“What am I going to do with these boys?” She mumbled to herself, shaking her head.
But, she does find them endearing. That’s something she can’t deny.
After a while ‘Hikaru’ came back in more casual, warmer clothes. He knocked knocked knocked on the Tsujinka’s residence.
“Hello? Mrs. Tsujinka?” ‘Hikaru’ called out.
She opened the door shortly after.
“Come in, his fever has actually come down a bit. You may visit him but no funny business!”
“When have I ever caused him any harm!” ‘Hikaru’ retorted playfully. He knew the answer, and it wasn’t never.
Mrs. Tsujinka sighed, but had a tired smile. She let ‘Hikaru’ in. He took off his shoes and went up the stairs. It was nice to be in Yoshiki’s house again. With its familiar smells, and its overall comfy vibe. It felt like Yoshiki. ‘Hikaru’ heard Karou snoring in the other room next to Yoshiki. He let out a small giggle at that. How does Yoshiki deal with her?
He came to Yoshiki’s door and knocked loudly.
“Yoshiki!” He called out.
There was no response, so he just barged in.
And Lo and Behold, Yoshiki was on his bed on his phone. He slowly looked up at ‘Hikaru’ and sniffled.
God, he looks awful! But cute, like a little cute.
Or that’s what ‘Hikaru’ thought when he first saw Yoshiki.
Yoshiki’s face was flush red. He had an awful runny nose. He had a small patch on his forehead. His hair was all messy and his pyjamas were in a worser state! Damn, is this what a fever can do to one person?
“‘Hikaru?!’” Cried Yoshiki, his voice sounded rather coarse.
“Yoshiki!” ‘Hikaru’s’ eyes gleamed with excitement.
“What’re ya doing here? Yer supposed to be at school!”
“I convinced yer mama to let me in,”
“How about yer mama?”
“She let me come too.”
Yoshiki sighed and lied down on the bed. ‘Hikaru’ walked a bit closer to the bed.
“We’re not gonna have any fun anyways,” Yoshiki started. “I can barely move.”
“It’s ok Yoshiki we can… I dunno watch movies?”
“Which movie?”
“We’ll figure it out.” ‘Hikaru’ sat down next to his bed and put his chin up on it.
Maybe, maybe it was a trick of light, but when Yoshiki saw the light-haired boy with his expression rested, and looking up at Yoshiki! He flushed a brighter red!
Agh!
“Can’t ya get sick?”
“I dunno that either…” ‘Hikaru’ mumbled.
Yoshiki put his head on ‘Hikaru’s’ head and ruffled his hair. “What do ya know?”
‘Hikaru’ mumbled a few weak protests and pushed his hand away, although he’ll never admit it the attention was nice.
“Ya gotta stop doing that!” Hikaru argued.
“Why? It puts ya in yer place.” Yoshiki giggled but that turned into a coughing fit.
“Sheesh…” ‘Hikaru’ whispered, he brought his hand up to his mouth to suppress a giggle.
“Oi, yer laughing at my suffering.”
“It’s not my fault yer suffering is funny.”
Yoshiki rolled his eyes and sunk back into his bed. He let out a small sneeze, like an actual small sneeze. It was so cute!
“Awh, is that how ya sneeze? How cute!” ‘Hikaru’ semi-teased.
“Shut yer trap.” Grumbled Yoshiki.
“So cute I almost didn’t notice the snot all over yer face,” Hikaru tossed him a tissue box.
Yoshiki took it and blew in it as hard as he could. It was gross but hey, he’s sick.
“So… do ya still want to watch that movie?”
“I asked ya earlier, which movie?”
“Uhm… let’s look for one?” ‘Hikaru’ crawled into Yoshiki’s bed.
“Oi Oi Oi Oi Oi Oi!” Yoshiki protested. “What do ya think yer doing?!”
“Wow, I can’t even sit next to my friend now?” ‘Hikaru’ knew what he was doing. But what was Yoshiki going to do? Stop him? He’s to weak at the heart for that.
“Yer always tryin’ to embarrass me.” Yoshiki’s face burned up, and it didn’t seem like it was due to temperature.
“Same with ya!”
“It’s different when I do it, since I’m the elder one. That’s normal!”
“Whatever…” ‘Hikaru’ chuckled, and Yoshiki couldn’t help but smile at that.
Time passed and they did find a movie on Yoshiki’s phone. It was a crappy one, but it was funny-ish. ‘Hikaru’ kept laughing at the crappy jokes and Yoshiki rolled his eyes. The only reason he was laughing is because of how funny ‘Hikaru’s’ laugh is. The cold winter was raging outside their window. No sun in sight.
They were so engrossed in the movie they hadn’t realised the position they were in currently. Their legs were tangled up, cheek to cheek. ‘Hikaru’s’ arms were practically swaddling Yoshiki. And Yoshiki was making no effort to move. In fact, he was embracing ‘Hikaru’ back. They were both under the same blanket.
‘Hikaru’ let out another small giggle and Yoshiki turned his head to ‘Hikaru’. Only then did he realise how close their faces were… and their position.
Yoshiki dropped the phone on his own torso.
“‘Hikaru’…” Yoshiki’s mumbled weakly.
After ‘Hikaru’ was done with his little laughing fit he only then notice their little predicament.
They both layed in an awkward silence, the movie was still playing but it was slightly muffled due to the blanket.
“Maybe… ya should move—“ Yoshiki’s suggested but was immediately cut off.
“Naw.” ‘Hikaru’ buried his face into the side of Yoshiki’s neck. Whether it was for his own comfort or it was to tease Yoshiki was unclear. Maybe a mixture of both?
“Hey—!” Yelped Yoshiki.
“Why should I move?” ‘Hikaru’ spoke in a sly tone.
‘Hikaru’s’ breath was so close to Yoshiki that it made him shiver a little. “‘Cause I’m sick, I don’t want ya to get sick.” Yoshiki’ wasn’t trying hard to find a good reason.
“I think I won’t get sick.” ‘Hikaru’ mumbled.
“Seriously, yer actin’ kinda weird.” Yoshiki looked at his bedroom door. His arm was under ‘Hikaru’s’ head. His hand subconsciously combing through his short, white hair.
“Naw, yer the one always actin’ weird.” Responded ‘Hikaru’.
“What do ya mean?”
“Ya never hug me or… I dunno kiss me.”
“Kiss ya?” Squeaked Yoshiki. “Yer acting like we’re some couple.”
“Don’t ya love me, Yoshiki? School has been soo busy and whenever we hang out we study.”
“Well—I—“ Yoshiki sputtered.
“You said I mean more to ya than a friend.” ‘Hikaru’ was sounding kind of… whiny?
Yoshiki had no idea how it lead up to here. Why was ‘Hikaru’ acting like this? Was Yoshiki’s temperature rising or is he just flustered like hell? Should he kiss ‘Hikaru’?
“It’s not like I have any romantic or sexual desire…” ‘Hikaru’s’ arms wrapped around Yoshiki’s chest. “I just kinda want… ya!”
Yoshiki mustered up the courage to turn his head to ‘Hikaru’. His heart was in his ass and he didn’t know what was going to happen next.
Sick, gay, and kind of whipped for ‘Hikaru’, how could this get even worse??
“Jeez, ya look terrible.” ‘Hikaru’ did have a flush on his face but it was nothing compared to Yoshiki.
“Heavens forbid I look bad while I have a fever.” Yoshiki muttered.
‘Hikaru’ gave a small peck on Yoshiki’s neck. Yoshiki let out a small whimper. ‘Hikaru’ gave a couple more, Yoshiki involuntarily responded.
“Yer so cute…”
“Ugh, I hate you.” Yoshiki said. “Taking advantage of my weak state… how cruel!” But in reality, he wouldn’t mind if they stayed in the same position.
‘Hikaru’ continued to peck on Yoshiki’s neck, leading up to his jaw. It was to the point where he peppered kisses all over Hikaru’s face.
They sat up as Hikaru’s kisses got longer. Both of their minds were fuzzy and numb as hell, especially Yoshiki’s. This was almost a fever dream to him.
Hikaru then paused and looked down on Yoshiki’s lips. Their legs were tangled, chest to chest, flushed. It was such a peaceful and intimate moment between the two boys. The snow banging on the window creating white noise. Hand holding.
“…My lips are chapped as hell.” Yoshiki jokingly mentioned.
“I don’t mind.” And then Hikaru went for the kiss.
It was truly such an intimate kiss. It was tender and sweet. The two boys having a private moment of affection between the two.
‘Hikaru’ chuckled between breathes in the kiss.
“…Love ya, ‘Hikaru’”
“Love ya too, Yoshiki.”
…
The next day came around and Yoshiki was feeling better than ever! Sure, he still had an awful runny nose but there was no more fever. He had to study for his entrance exams anyways.
He said his goodbyes to his family and biked over to ‘Hikaru’s’ house. He knocked on the door.
“‘Hikaru?’” Yoshiki called out. He pushed the door open, noticing it was unlocked.
“Yoshiki!” Hikaru’s mama called out.
He jumped. “Hi ma’am!” Squeaked Yoshiki.
“Don’t ya know that it’s illegal to barge into people’s houses like that!” She teased.
“A-ah! I’m so s-sorry I—“
She let out a giggle. “Naw, don’t worry yer head off now.”
Yoshiki was blushing from embarrassment slightly, but he bowed quickly and rushed up the stairs to check on ‘Hikaru.’
“‘Hikaru’???” Yoshiki knocked on the door. No reponse.
He got worried for second, what if he’s hurt? What if something happened.
“‘Hikaru’… I’m going to come in…” Warned Yoshiki. He opened the door slowly and quietly.
There was ‘Hikaru’ on the bed with an ice pack on his head. He had a horrible fever!
“I told ya! Yer sick now!” Yoshiki scolded.
“Worth it…” ‘Hikaru’ mumbled in a raspy voice.
