"You're telling me this was the best solution?" Marinette laughed.
Luka's hands slid up her legs to rest on her thighs, keeping her balanced on his shoulder as he shifted forward, closer to the cupboard. "You said you couldn't reach."
"And this is better than reaching them for me?"
Luka squeezed her thigh. "You're a very independent woman. I didn't want to get in the way."
"So, this is you supporting me?" Marinette asked, leaning forward to grab the wine glasses from the top shelf.
"Yep. That's me. supportive. Or hadn't you noticed?"
She laughed again as Luka slid her from his shoulder into his arms and to the ground. When he didn't immediately let her go, she set the glasses on the countertop in front of them and turned in his arms to face him. "Oh, I noticed."
She reached up to pull his head to hers, stealing a kiss. "You are very supportive."
He grinned against her lips. "So, how else can I support you?"
With one more kiss, Marinette pulled away, laughing when he pouted. "Well, the wine isn't going to pour itself."
She knew that wasn't the answer he was looking for, but the night was still young. She leaned against the counter as she watched her boyfriend pour the wine for the dinner she'd meticulously planned. She was pretty sure he would be getting exactly what he wanted when she surprised him with a ring. After the tricky early days of their relationship, she couldn't think of a better way to make sure he knew she had chosen him.
